1 Cast your bread upon the waters; after a long time you may find it again.	1 Helyezd kenyeredet a folyóvíz színére, így sok nap múlva megtalálod azt.
2 Make seven or eight portions; you know not what misfortune may come upon the earth.	2 Oszd hét részre, vagy pedig nyolcra, mert nem tudod, milyen baj jön a földre.
3 When the clouds are full, they pour out rain upon the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, wherever it falls, there shall it lie.	3 Ha a felhők megtelnek, esőt ontanak a földre, ha délnek dől a fa, vagy akár északnak, azon a helyen marad, ahová ledőlt.
4 One who pays heed to the wind will not sow, and one who watches the clouds will never reap.	4 Aki folyton a széljárást lesi, sohasem vet, aki mindig a felhőket nézi, nem jut el az aratáshoz.
5 Just as you know not how the breath of life fashions the human frame in the mother's womb, So you know not the work of God which he is accomplishing in the universe.	5 Ahogy azt nem tudod, hogy merre megy a szél útja, és hogy a csontok hogyan állnak össze a várandós asszony méhében, ugyanúgy nem ismered Isten műveit sem, aki mindeneket alkotott.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening let not your hand be idle: For you know not which of the two will be successful, or whether both alike will turn out well.	6 Vesd el vetőmagodat reggel, és estig ne pihentesd kezedet, mivel nem tudod, hogy ez hasznosabb-e vagy az, vagy hogy jobb-e mindkettő együtt.
7 Light is sweet! and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.	7 Édes a fény, és a szemnek jó, ha látja a napot!
8 However many years a man may live, let him, as he enjoys them all, remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that is to come is vanity.	8 Akárhány évet ér is meg az ember, lelje örömét mindegyikben, de emlékezzék meg a sötét időről, és arról a sok napról, amelyek, amikor eljönnek, hiúságnak mutatják az elmúltakat.
9 Rejoice, O young man, while you are young and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart, the vision of your eyes; Yet understand that as regards all this God will bring you to judgment.	9 Örvendj, ifjú, fiatal korodban, és légy jó kedvvel ifjúságod napjain! Kövesd szíved hajlamát, és azt, amit szemed lát! De tudd meg, hogy mindezekért Isten törvény elé idéz!
10 Ward off grief from your heart and put away trouble from your presence, though the dawn of youth is fleeting.	10 Űzd el a búbánatot szívedből és tartsd távol a bajt testedtől, hisz az ifjúkor és az élvezet is csak hiúság!
