For the leader. Of David, the servant of the LORD. | 1 [For the choirmaster Of the servant of Yahweh Of David] Sin is the oracle of the wicked in the depthsof his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. |
Sin directs the heart of the wicked; their eyes are closed to the fear of God. | 2 He sees himself with too flattering an eye to detect and detest his guilt; |
For they live with the delusion: their guilt will not be known and hated. | 3 al he says is malicious and deceitful, he has turned his back on wisdom. To get his way |
Empty and false are the words of their mouth; they have ceased to be wise and do good. | 4 he hatches malicious plots even in his bed; once set on his evil course no wickedness is too much forhim. |
In their beds they hatch plots; they set out on a wicked way; they do not reject evil. | 5 Yahweh, your faithful love is in the heavens, your constancy reaches to the clouds, |
LORD, your love reaches to heaven; your fidelity, to the clouds. | 6 your saving justice is like towering mountains, your judgements like the mighty deep. Yahweh, yousupport both man and beast; |
Your justice is like the highest mountains; your judgments, like the mighty deep; all living creatures you sustain, LORD. | 7 how precious, God, is your faithful love. So the children of Adam take refuge in the shadow of yourwings. |
How precious is your love, O God! We take refuge in the shadow of your wings. | 8 They feast on the bounty of your house, you let them drink from your delicious streams; |
We feast on the rich food of your house; from your delightful stream you give us drink. | 9 in you is the source of life, by your light we see the light. |
For with you is the fountain of life, and in your light we see light. | 10 Maintain your faithful love to those who acknowledge you, and your saving justice to the honest ofheart. |
Continue your kindness toward your friends, your just defense of the honest heart. | 11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant overtake me or wicked hands drive me away. |
Do not let the foot of the proud overtake me, nor the hand of the wicked disturb me. | 12 There they have fallen, the evil-doers, flung down, never to rise again. |
There make the evildoers fall; thrust them down, never to rise. |
