1 Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead, since all the older sons had been slain by the band that had come into the fort with the Arabs. Thus Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, reigned as the king of Judah.	1 Gli abitatori di Ierusalem fecero re per lui Ocozia suo figliuolo; però che tutti quelli, ch' erano innanzi a lui, aveano morti i ladroncelli degli Arabi, li quali avevano assalite le castella; e regnoe Ocozia figliuolo di Ioram re di Giuda.
2 He was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother was named Athaliah, daughter of Omri.	2 E quando Ocozia cominciò a regnare, era di XLII anni; e uno regnò in Ierusalem. Il nome della madre sua fu Atalia figliuola di Amri.
3 He, too, followed the ways of the house of Ahab, because his mother counseled him to act sinfully.	3 E anco egli entrò per la via della casa d'Acab; e la madre sua lo indusse, ch' egli facesse empie cose.
4 To his own destruction, he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab, since they were his counselors after the death of his father.	4 Onde egli fece male nel cospetto di Dio, sì come la casa di Acab; ed egli furono suoi consiglieri, dopo la morte del suo padre, nella morte sua.
5 He was also following their counsel when he accompanied Jehoram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, to battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead. There Jehoram was wounded by the Arameans.	5 E andò per lo consiglio loro; e andò con Ioram figliuolo di Acab alla battaglia contra Azael re di Siria in Ramot di Galaad; e i Siri ferirono Ioram.
6 He returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds he had received at Rama in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Because of this illness, Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, son of Ahab, in Jezreel.	6 Ed egli ritornò in Iezrael a farsi medicare; però ch' avea ricevuto molte ferite nella detta battaglia. Ocozia figliuolo di Ioram re di Giuda andò in Iezrael a vedere Ioram, figliuolo di Acab, infermo.
7 Now it was willed by God for Ahaziah's downfall that he should join Jehoram, for after his arrival he rode out with Jehoram to Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut down the house of Ahab.	7 E fu di volontà di Dio contro Ocozia, ch' egli andasse a Ioram; e venuto, è uscito con esso lui contro a Ieu figliuolo di Namsi, il quale avea unto Iddio acciò che disertasse la casa di Acab.
8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he also encountered the princes of Judah and the nephews of Ahaziah who were his attendants, and he slew them.	8 E disfacendo Ieu la casa di Acab, trovò i principi di Giuda, e i figliuoli de' fratelli d' Ocozia, i quali gli serviano, e uccisegli.
9 Then he looked for Ahaziah himself. They caught him where he was hiding in Samaria and brought him to Jehu, who put him to death. They buried him, for they said, "He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with his whole heart." There remained in Ahaziah's house no one powerful enough to wield the kingship.	9 E cercando per Ocozia, preselo, essendo nascosto in Samaria; e menato a lui, egli l' uccise; e seppellironlo, però ch' era figliuolo di Iosafat, il quale avea seguitato Iddio con tutto il cuore; e non era più speranza veruna, che della stirpe di Ocozia fosse chi potesse regnare.
10 When Athaliah, mother of Ahaziah, learned that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill off all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.	10 E veggendo Atalia sua madre, che era morto il suo figliuolo, levossi e uccise tutta la stirpe regale della casa di Ioram.
11 But Jehosheba, a royal princess, secretly took Ahaziah's son Joash from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. In this way Jehosheba, who was the daughter of King Jehoram, a sister of Ahaziah, and wife of Jehoiada the priest, hid the child from Athaliah's sight, so that she did not put him to death.	11 Ma Iosabet, figliuola del re, tolse Ioas figliuolo di Ocozia, e furollo del mezzo de' figliuoli del re, quando si uccideano; e nascose lui con la sua baila in una cameretta de' letti; e questa Iosabet, la quale avealo nascoso, era figliuola di re Ioram, moglie di Ioiada pontefice, sorella di Ocozia; e però Atalia non lo uccise.
12 For six years he remained hidden with them in the house of God, while Athaliah ruled over the land.	12 E fu con esso loro nascoso nella casa di Dio sei anni, nei quali Atalia regnoe sopra la terra.
