After this, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them; and he took Gath and its towns away from the control of the Philistines.1 Después de esto, batió David a los filisteos y los humilló, tomando Gat y sus dependencias de manos de los filisteos.
He also defeated Moab, and the Moabites became his subjects, paying tribute.2 Batió también a los moabitas, que quedaron sometidos a David, pagando tributo.
David then defeated Hadadezer, king of Zobah toward Hamath, when the latter was on his way to set up his victory stele at the river Euphrates.3 Batió David a Hadadézer, rey de Sobá, en Jamat, cuando éste iba a establecer su dominio sobre el río Eufrates.
David took from him twenty thousand foot soldiers, one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen. Of the chariot horses, David hamstrung all but one hundred.4 David apresó mi carros, 7.000 soldados de carro y 20.000 hombres de a pie; David desjarretó toda la caballería de los carros, reservando cien tiros.
The Arameans of Damascus came to the aid of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, but David also slew twenty-two thousand of their men.5 Los arameos de Damasco vinieron en socorro de Hadadézer, rey de Sobá, y David hizo 22.000 bajas a los arameos.
Then David set up garrisons in the Damascus region of Aram, and the Arameans became his subjects, paying tribute. Thus the LORD made David victorious in all his campaigns.6 Estableció David gobernadores en Aram de Damasco, y los arameos quedaron sometidos a David, pagando tributo. Yahveh hizo triunfar a David doquiera que iba.
David took the golden shields that were carried by Hadadezer's attendants and brought them to Jerusalem.7 Tomó David los escudos de oro que llevaban los servidores de Hadadézer y los llevó a Jerusalén.
He likewise took away from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer, large quantities of bronze, which Solomon later used to make the bronze sea and the pillars and the vessels of bronze.8 De Tibjat y Kun, ciudades de Hadadézer, tomó David una gran cantidad de bronce, con el cual hizo Salomón el Mar de bronce, las columnas y los utensilios de bronce.
When Tou, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah,9 Cuando Tou, rey de Jamat, supo que David había derrotado a todas las fuerzas de Hadadézer, rey de Sobá,
he sent his son Hadoram to wish King David well and to congratulate him on having waged a victorious war against Hadadezer; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. He also sent David gold, silver and bronze utensils of every sort.10 envió a Hadoram, su hijo, donde el rey David para saludarle y para felicitarle por haber atacado y vencido a Hadadézer, ya que Tou estaba en guerra con Hadadézer. Traía Hadoram toda clase de objetos de oro, de plata y de bronce.
These also King David consecrated to the LORD along with all the silver and gold that he had taken from the nations: from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, and Amalek.11 El rey David los consagró también a Yahveh, con la plata y el oro que había tomado a todas las naciones: a Edom, a Moab, a los ammonitas, a los filisteos y a los amalecitas.
Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, also slew eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.12 Abisay, hijo de Sarvia, derrotó en el Valle de la Sal a 18.000 edomitas;
He set up garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Thus the LORD made David victorious in all his campaigns.13 puso gobernadores en Edom; y todos los edomitas quedaron sometidos a David. Yahveh hizo triunfar a David dondequiera iba.
