1 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 בן אדם הנבא ואמרת כה אמר אדני יהוה הילילו הה ליום	2 'Son of man, prophesy and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Howl: Disaster day!
3 כי קרוב יום וקרוב יום ליהוה יום ענן עת גוים יהיה	3 For the day is near, the day of Yahweh is near; it wil be a day dark with cloud, a time of doom for thenations.
4 ובאה חרב במצרים והיתה חלחלה בכוש בנפל חלל במצרים ולקחו המונה ונהרסו יסודתיה	4 "The sword wil come on Egypt, and anguish on the country of Cush when the slaughtered fal inEgypt, when her riches are carried away and her foundations are destroyed.
5 כוש ופוט ולוד וכל הערב וכוב ובני ארץ הברית אתם בחרב יפלו	5 Cush, Put and Lud, all Arabia, Cub and the children of the country of the covenant will fal by thesword with them.
6 כה אמר יהוה ונפלו סמכי מצרים וירד גאון עזה ממגדל סונה בחרב יפלו בה נאם אדני יהוה	6 "Yahweh says this: "The supports of Egypt wil fall; the pride of her strength wil crumble; they will fal by the sword from Migdol to Syene -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
7 ונשמו בתוך ארצות נשמות ועריו בתוך ערים נחרבות תהיינה	7 "They will be the most desolate of desolate countries, and its cities the most ruined of cities.
8 וידעו כי אני יהוה בתתי אש במצרים ונשברו כל עזריה	8 And they wil know that I am Yahweh when I set fire to Egypt and al its supports are shattered.
9 ביום ההוא יצאו מלאכים מלפני בצים להחריד את כוש בטח והיתה חלחלה בהם ביום מצרים כי הנה באה	9 "That day, I shal send messengers by ship to terrify the carefree Cushites, and anguish wil overtakethem on the day of Egypt -- it is coming now!
10 כה אמר אדני יהוה והשבתי את המון מצרים ביד נבוכדראצר מלך בבל	10 The Lord Yahweh says this: I shal destroy the huge population of Egypt at the hand ofNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11 הוא ועמו אתו עריצי גוים מובאים לשחת הארץ והריקו חרבותם על מצרים ומלאו את הארץ חלל	11 He and his people, the most barbarous of nations, wil be brought to ravage the country. They wildraw the sword against Egypt and fil the country with corpses.
12 ונתתי יארים חרבה ומכרתי את הארץ ביד רעים והשמתי ארץ ומלאה ביד זרים אני יהוה דברתי	12 I shal dry up the courses of the Nile and sel the country to the wicked. I shal lay the whole countrywaste and everything in it, at the hand of foreigners. I, Yahweh, have spoken.
13 כה אמר אדני יהוה והאבדתי גלולים והשבתי אלילים מנף ונשיא מארץ מצרים לא יהיה עוד ונתתי יראה בארץ מצרים	13 "The Lord Yahweh says this: I shall destroy the foul idols and take the false gods away from Noph.Egypt wil be left without a ruler. I shall spread fear through Egypt.
14 והשמתי את פתרוס ונתתי אש בצען ועשיתי שפטים בנא	14 I shal lay Pathros waste, set Zoan on fire, inflict my punishments on No.
15 ושפכתי חמתי על סין מעוז מצרים והכרתי את המון נא	15 I shal vent my fury on Sin, the bastion of Egypt; I shall wipe out the throngs of No.
16 ונתתי אש במצרים חול תחיל סין ונא תהיה להבקע ונף צרי יומם	16 I shal set fire to Egypt; Sin will be seized with convulsions; a breach wil be opened at No and thewaters flood out.
17 בחורי און ופי בסת בחרב יפלו והנה בשבי תלכנה	17 The young men of On and Pi-Beseth wil fal by the sword and the cities themselves go into captivity.
18 ובתחפנחס חשך היום בשברי שם את מטות מצרים ונשבת בה גאון עזה היא ענן יכסנה ובנותיה בשבי תלכנה	18 At Tahpanhes day will turn to darkness when I shatter the sceptres of Egypt there, when the pride ofher strength ceases. A cloud will cover Egypt itself, and its daughters will go into captivity.
19 ועשיתי שפטים במצרים וידעו כי אני יהוה	19 Such wil be the punishments I inflict on Egypt. And they wil know that I am Yahweh." '
20 ויהי באחת עשרה שנה בראשון בשבעה לחדש היה דבר יהוה אלי לאמר	20 In the eleventh year, on the seventh day of the first month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to meas fol ows,
21 בן אדם את זרוע פרעה מלך מצרים שברתי והנה לא חבשה לתת רפאות לשום חתול לחבשה לחזקה לתפש בחרב	21 'Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; you can see that no one has dressedhis wound by applying remedies to it, by bandaging it and by dressing it, to make it strong enough to wield thesword.
22 לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני אל פרעה מלך מצרים ושברתי את זרעתיו את החזקה ואת הנשברת והפלתי את החרב מידו	22 This being so, the Lord Yahweh says this, "Look, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt; I shal breakhis arms, the sound one and the broken one, and make the sword drop from his hand.
23 והפצותי את מצרים בגוים וזריתם בארצות	23 I shal scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse it among the countries.
24 וחזקתי את זרעות מלך בבל ונתתי את חרבי בידו ושברתי את זרעות פרעה ונאק נאקות חלל לפניו	24 I shal strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand. I shal breakPharaoh's arms and, confronted with his enemy, he wil groan like a dying man.
25 והחזקתי את זרעות מלך בבל וזרעות פרעה תפלנה וידעו כי אני יהוה בתתי חרבי ביד מלך בבל ונטה אותה אל ארץ מצרים	25 I shal strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh wil fall. And they wilknow that I am Yahweh, when I put my sword into the hands of the king of Babylon and he wields it againstEgypt.
26 והפצותי את מצרים בגוים וזריתי אותם בארצות וידעו כי אני יהוה	26 I shal scatter Egypt among the nations and disperse it among the countries; and they wil know that Iam Yahweh." '
