1 ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 בן אדם שים פניך אל בני עמון והנבא עליהם	2 'Son of man, turn towards the Ammonites and prophesy against them.
3 ואמרת לבני עמון שמעו דבר אדני יהוה כה אמר אדני יהוה יען אמרך האח אל מקדשי כי נחל ואל אדמת ישראל כי נשמה ואל בית יהודה כי הלכו בגולה	3 Say to the Ammonites, "Hear the word of the Lord Yahweh. The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since yougloated over my sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was ravaged, and over theHouse of Judah when it went into exile,
4 לכן הנני נתנך לבני קדם למורשה וישבו טירותיהם בך ונתנו בך משכניהם המה יאכלו פריך והמה ישתו חלבך	4 I shal let the sons of the East take possession of you; they wil pitch their camps inside you, they wilmake their home in you. They will be the ones to eat your produce and drink your milk.
5 ונתתי את רבה לנוה גמלים ואת בני עמון למרבץ צאן וידעתם כי אני יהוה	5 I shal turn Rabbah into a camel yard and the towns of Ammon into sheepfolds. And so you wil knowthat I am Yahweh.
6 כי כה אמר אדני יהוה יען מחאך יד ורקעך ברגל ותשמח בכל שאטך בנפש אל אדמת ישראל	6 "The Lord Yahweh says this: Since you have clapped your hands and danced for joy, ful of maliciousdelight at Israel's fate,
7 לכן הנני נטיתי את ידי עליך ונתתיך לבג לגוים והכרתיך מן העמים והאבדתיך מן הארצות אשמידך וידעת כי אני יהוה	7 my hand wil be against you for this; I shall hand you over to be looted by the peoples, obliterate youas a nation and wipe you out as a country. I shal reduce you to nothing, and you wil know that I am Yahweh.
8 כה אמר אדני יהוה יען אמר מואב ושעיר הנה ככל הגוים בית יהודה	8 "The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since Moab and Seir have said: Look at the House of Judah; it is nodifferent from any other nation;
9 לכן הנני פתח את כתף מואב מהערים מעריו מקצהו צבי ארץ בית הישימת בעל מעון וקריתמה	9 very wel , I shall expose Moab's heights; its cities will no longer be cities throughout the land -- thejewels of the country, Beth-Jeshimoth, Baal-Meon and Kiriathaim.
10 לבני קדם על בני עמון ונתתיה למורשה למען לא תזכר בני עמון בגוים	10 I shal let the sons of the East and the Ammonites take possession of them, so that they wil nolonger be remembered by the nations.
11 ובמואב אעשה שפטים וידעו כי אני יהוה	11 I shal bring Moab to justice, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
12 כה אמר אדני יהוה יען עשות אדום בנקם נקם לבית יהודה ויאשמו אשום ונקמו בהם	12 "The Lord Yahweh says this: "Since Edom has taken revenge on the House of Judah and committedgreat crimes in doing so,
13 לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה ונטתי ידי על אדום והכרתי ממנה אדם ובהמה ונתתיה חרבה מתימן ודדנה בחרב יפלו	13 very well, the Lord Yahweh says this: My hand wil be against Edom and denude it of human andanimal. I shal lay it waste, from Teman as far as Dedan they wil be put to the sword.
14 ונתתי את נקמתי באדום ביד עמי ישראל ועשו באדום כאפי וכחמתי וידעו את נקמתי נאם אדני יהוה	14 I shal take vengeance on Edom by means of my people Israel. They wil treat Edom as my angerand fury dictate, and they wil know this is my vengeance -- declares the Lord Yahweh.
15 כה אמר אדני יהוה יען עשות פלשתים בנקמה וינקמו נקם בשאט בנפש למשחית איבת עולם	15 "The Lord Yahweh says this, "Since the Philistines have acted in revenge and, motivated by malice,have taken revenge, doing their best to destroy because of their long-standing hatred,
16 לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני נוטה ידי על פלשתים והכרתי את כרתים והאבדתי את שארית חוף הים	16 very well, the Lord Yahweh says this: My hand wil be against the Philistines; I shal exterminate theCherethites and destroy the rest of the coastal peoples.
17 ועשיתי בם נקמות גדלות בתוכחות חמה וידעו כי אני יהוה בתתי את נקמתי בם	17 I shal perform frightful acts of vengeance and inflict furious punishments on them; and they will knowthat I am Yahweh, when I exact my vengeance on them." '
