Prima lettera ai Corinzi 11

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Siate miei imitatori, come io pur di Cristo.	1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.
2 Vi do lode però, o fratelli, perchè in ogni cosa vi ricordate di me: e quali ve gli ho dati, ritenete i miei documenti.	2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.
3 Or voglio, che voi sappiate, come capo di ogni uomo è Cristo: capo poi della donna è l'uomo: e capo di Cristo è Dio.	3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.
4 Ogni uomo, che ora, o profeta col capo coperto, fa disonore al suo capo.	4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.
5 E qualunque donna, che ori, o profetizzi a capo scoperto, fa disonore al suo capo: imperocché è lo stesso, che se fosse rasa.	5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.
6 Conciossiachè se la donna non porta il velo, si tosi eziandio. Che se è indecente per la donna l'esser tosata, o rasa, veli la sua testa.	6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.
7 L'uomo poi non dee velar la sua testa: perché è immagine, e gloria di Dio, ma la donna è gloria dell'uomo.	7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.
8 Imperocché non è dalla donna l'uomo, ma dall'uomo la donna.	8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;
9 Conciossiachè non è stato creato l'uomo per la donna, ma la donna per l'uomo.	9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:
10 Per questo dee la donna avere sopra il capo la potestà per riguardo degli Angeli.	10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.
11 Per altro nè l'uomo senza la Donna, nè la donna senza l'uomo, secondo il Signore.	11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;
12 Imperocché siccome la donna dall'uomo, cosi l'uomo per mezzo della donna: tutto poi da Dio.	12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.
13 Siate giudici voi medesimi: è egli decente che la donna faccia orazione a Dio senza velo?	13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?
14 E non v' insegna la stessa natura, che è disonorevol per l'uomo il nudrire la chioma?	14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
15 Per la donna poi è onore il nudrire la chioma: imperocché i capelli le sono stati dati per velo?	15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.
16 Che se taluno mostra di amar le contese: noi non abbiamo tale uso, né la Chiesa di Dio.	16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.
17 Di questo poi vi avverto: non per lodarvi, che vi radunate non con profitto, ma con iscapito.	17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.
18 Primamente adunque adunandovi voi nella Chiesa, sento esservi scissure tra di voi, e in parte lo credo.	18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
19 Imperocché fa di mestieri, che sianvi anche delle eresie, affinchè si palesino que', che tra voi sono di buona lega.	19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.
20 Quando adunque vi radunate insieme, non è già un mangiare la cena del Signore.	20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;
21 Imperocché ciascheduno anticipamente prende a mangiar la sua cena. E uno patisce la fame, un altro poi è ubbriaco.	21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.
22 Ma e non avete voi case per mangiare, e bere? Ovvero dispregiate la Chiesa di Dio, e fate arrossire quegli, che non han nulla? Che dirovvi? Vi loderò? In questo io non vi lodo.	22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.
23 Imperocché io ho appreso dal Signore quello, che ho anche insegnato a voi, che il Signore Gesù in quella notte, in cui era tradito, prese il pane,	23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,
24 E rendute le grazie, lo spezzò, e disse: prendete, e mangiate: questo è il corpo mio, il quale sarà dato (a morte) per voi: fate questo in memoria di me.	24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'
25 Similmente anche il calice, dopo di aver cenato, dicendo: questo calice è il nuovo testamento nel sangue mio: fate questo tutte le volte, che lo berete, in memoria di me.	25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'
26 Imperocché ogni volta, che mangerete questo pane, e berete questo calice: annuncerete la morte del Signore per fino a tanto che egli venga.	26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.
27 Per la qual cosa chiunque mangerà questo pane, o berà il calice del Signore indegnamente: sarà reo del corpo, e del sangue del Signore.	27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.
28 Provi perciò l'uomo se stesso: e cosi mangi di quel pane, e beva di quel calice.	28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;
29 Imperocché chi mangia, e beve indegnamente, si mangia, e beve la condannazione: non distinguendo il corpo del Signore.	29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.
30 Per questo molti tra voi sono infermi, e senza forze, e molti dormono.	30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.
31 Imperocché se ci giudicassimo da noi stessi, non saremmo certamente giudicati.	31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,
32 Ma quando siam giudicati, siamo gastigati dal Signore, affinché non siamo condannati con questo mondo.	32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.
33 Per la qual cosa, fratelli miei, allorché vi radunate per mangiare, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri.	33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;
34 Se uno ha fame, mangi a casa: onde non vi raduniate per essere condannati. Alle altre cose poi, tenuto che io sia, darò ordine.	34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.
