Proverbi 2

BIBBIA MARTINI	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figliuol mio, se tu vorrai dar ricetto alle mio parole, e riporre gli insegnamenti miei nel tuo seno,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 Affinchè le tue orecchie siano intente alle voci della sapienza, rivolgi il cuor tuo a conoscere la prudenza:	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 Perocché se tu invocherai la sapienza, e il cuor tuo rivolgerai alla prudenza;	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 Se cercherai di lei, come si fa delle ricchezze, e la scaverai, come si fa dei tesori,	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 Allora tu apparerai il timor del Signore, e troverai la scienza di Dio:	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 Perocché il Signore è quegli, che da la sapienza, e dalla bocca di lui (viene) la prudenza, e la scienza.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Egli è il custode della salute de' giusti, e protettore di quelli, che camminano nella innocenza.	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 E' regge i passi de' giusti, e governa le vie dei santi.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora tu intenderai la giustizia, la rettitudine, e l'equità, e tutti i sentieri della onestà.	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Se entrerà in cuor tuo la sapienza, e se la scienza sarà tuo diletto,	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 Tuo custode sarà il buon consiglio, e la prudenza ti salverà,	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 Lontano tenendoti dalla via del male, e dagli uomini di lingua perversa:	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 I quali abbandonan la via diritta, e battono vie tenebrose.	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 I quali si rallegrano del male, che han fatto, e delle loro malvagità fanno festa.	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 Le vie de' quali son storte, e vituperesi i loro andamenti.	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 Ella ti farà star lontano dalla donna altrui, e dalla donna straniera, che ha melate parole.	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 E abbandona il rettore di sua giovinezza,	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 Ed ha messo in dimenticanza il patto del Dio suo: la casa di lei declina verso la morte, e le sue vie verso l'inferno.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Tutti quelli, che entrano in casa di lei non torneranno indietro, né ripiglieranno le vie della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Affinchè tu segua la buona strada e non esca dai sentieri de' giusti.	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 Perocché gli uomini retti abiteranno la terra, e gli innocenti vi averan ferma stanza.	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 Ma gli empj saranno sterminati dalla terra, e quelli, che operano iniquamente, ne saranno rapiti.	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
