1 Venticinque anni avea Joatham quando cominciò a regnare; e se dici anni regnò in Gerusalemme: sua madre ebbe nome Jerusa figliuola di Sadoc.	1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.
2 Ed egli fece quello, che era giusto dinanzi al Signore, imitando in tutto Ozia suo padre, eccetto che egli non entrò nel tempio del Signore: ma il popolo peccava tutt'ora.	2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.
3 Egli edificò l'altissima porta della casa del Signore, e molte cose fece sulle mura di Ophel.	3 It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.
4 Edifico parimente delle città sui monti di Giuda, e delle castella, e delle torri ne' boschi.	4 He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.
5 Egli fece guerra al re degli Ammoniti, e li vinse, e gli Ammoniti allora gli diedero cento talenti di argento, e dieci mila cori di grano, e altrettanti di orzo: queste cose le diedero a lui gli Ammoniti l'anno secondo, e il terzo.	5 He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.
6 E Joatham diventò potente, perchè egli avea regolate le sue vie sul volere del Signore Dio suo.	6 Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.
7 Il rimanente poi delle azioni di Joatham, e tutte le sue battaglie, e le imprese sono scritte nel libro dei re di Israele, e di Giuda.	7 The rest of the history of Jotham, al his wars and his policy, are recorded in the Book of the Kings ofIsrael and Judah.
8 Egli avea venticinque anni quando principiò a regnare; e sedici anni regnò in Gerusalemme.	8 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem.
9 Indi Joatham si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto nella città di David: e gli succedette nel regno Achaz suo figliuolo.	9 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.
