1 Samuel 9

1 Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.	1 Ed era uno uomo (della tribù) di Beniamin, il quale avea nome Cis, figliuolo di Abiel, figliuolo di Seror, figliuolo di Becorat (figliuolo di Saret), figliuolo di Afia, figliuolo d'uno uomo di Gemini, forte di fortezza.
2 And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.	2 E avea uno figliuolo, il quale avea nome Saul, eletto e buono; e non era uomo, de' figliuoli d' Israel, migliore di lui; dall' omero in suso avanzava sopra tutto il popolo.
3 And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.	3 E l'asine di Cis, padre di Saul, erano perdute; e disse a Saul suo figliuolo: togli teco uno de' servi, e vanne e cerca per l'asine. Li quali passando per lo monte di Efraim,
4 And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.	4 e per la terra di Salisa, e non le ritrovassero, passarono anco per la terra di Salim, e non v'erano; e per la terra di Gemini, e non le ritrovarono.
5 And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.	5 E venuti nella terra di Suf (e non trovandole), disse Saul al servo (suo) il quale era con lui: vieni, andiamcene; forse che il mio padre, lasciando andare l'asine, è sollecito di noi.
6 And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.	6 Il quale rispuose: ecco, in questa città sì è uno uomo di Dio, nobile; e ciò che dice senza dubbio interviene; ora andiamo a lui; forse addimostrerà della nostra via, per la quale noi siamo venuti.
7 Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?	7 E Saul disse al servo suo: ecco che noi anderemo; che porteremo all' uomo di Dio? il pane è venuto meno nelle sporte, e isportella non abbiamo per darli, nè veruna altra cosa.
8 And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.	8 E ancora il servo, rispondendo a Saul, disse: ecco che si trova nella mano [mia] la quarta parte d'uno statere d'ariento; daremlo all' uomo di Dio, e diracci della nostra via.
9 (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)	9 Però che nel tempo passato così soleva dire in Israel ogni uomo che andava a dimandare consiglio a Dio (dicevano): venite, andiamo al Vedente (cioè al profeta). Però che quello, che ora è chiamato profeta, sì solea esser chiamato il Vedente.
10 Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.	10 E Saul disse al servo suo: la tua parola sì è ottima, vieni e andiamo. E andarono nella città nella quale era l' uomo di Dio.
11 And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?	11 E andando suso il monte verso la città, trovarono fanciulle, le quali uscivano (della città) per attignere acqua, e dissero loro: è quiritta il Vedente?
12 And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:	12 Le quali rispondendo dissero loro: qui è innanzi a te, va e affretta; perchè oggi viene alla città, perchè è dì di sacrificio al popolo nel monte.
13 As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.	13 Ed entrando nella città, incontanente il troverete, prima che ascenda nel monte a mangiare; e il popolo non mangerà insino a tanto ch' egli non sarà venuto; però ch' egli benedirà l'ostia, e poi mangeranno quegli i quali saranno invitati. E però ascendete, chè oggi voi il troverete.
14 And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.	14 E ascenderono alla città: e andando per mezzo alla città, ecco che Samuel andava incontro loro per andare nel monte.
15 Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,	15 E Iddio avea rivelato nelle orecchie di Samuel, uno dì innanzi che Saul venisse, e avea detto:
16 To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.	16 Domani, a quest' ora che è testè, io manderò uno uomo della terra di Beniamin a te; il quale tu ugnerai duca sopra il popolo mio d'Israel; e salverà il popolo mio (d' Israel) delle mani de' Filistei; però che io ho guardato il popolo mio, però che il loro clamore sì è venuto a me.
17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.	17 E Samuel riguardando Saul, Iddio gli disse: ecco l'uomo del quale io t' avea detto; questo sì signoreggerà il popolo mio.
18 Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.	18 E andò Saul a Samuel nel mezzo della porta, e disse: io ti prego che tu a me dichi, dove è la casa del Vedente.
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.	19 E Samuel respuose a Saul, e disse: io sono il Vedente; ascendi dinanzi a me nel monte oggi a mangiare meco, e domattina ti lascerò andare; e dirotti tutte le cose che sono nel tuo cuore.
20 And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?	20 E dell' asine che tu perdesti l'altrieri non essere sollecito, però che sono ritrovate. E di cui saranno tutte le cose ottime d' Israel? Or non saran le tue, e di tutta la casa del padre tuo?
21 And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?	21 E respondendo Saul, disse: or non sono io figliuolo di Gemini della minima tribù d' Israel? E la mia progenie si è la minore tra tutte le famiglie della tribù di Beniamin; dunque perchè mi dici tu così fatte parole?
22 And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.	22 Or tollendo Samuel Saul e il suo servo, menogli nella casa con tre sale, e diedegli luogo in capo di coloro ch' erano invitati; ed erano quasi trenta uomini.
23 And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.	23 E disse Samuel al cuoco: la parte ch' io ti diedi, che tu la riponessi disparte, dara?li.
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.	24 E il cuoco levò la spalla (dello arognone) e puosela dinanzi a Saul. E disse Samuel: ecco, quello che è rimaso, pontelo innanzi e manuca; però che per industria ti fu riservato, quando io chiamai il popolo. E in quello dì mangiò Saul con Samuel.
25 And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.	25 E discesono del monte (e vennero) nella città; e favellò con Saul nel palco; e preparò Saul il letto nel palco, e dormi.
26 And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.	26 Ed essendo levati su, e cominciatosi a chiarire il dì, chiamò Samuel Saul nel palco, e disse: istà su, ch' io ti lascio andare. E Saul si levò; e amendue uscirono fuori, cioè egli e Samuel.
27 And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.	27 E discendendo loro nella estrema parte della città, Samuel disse a Saul: di' al servo, che vada uno poco innanzi, e passi; e tu resta uno poco, acciò ch' io ti manifesti la parola di Dio.
