Titus 3

1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,	1 Remind them to be under the control of magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be open to every good enterprise.
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.	2 They are to slander no one, to be peaceable, considerate, exercising all graciousness toward everyone.
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.	3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deluded, slaves to various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful ourselves and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,	4 But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;	5 not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit,
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;	6 whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior,
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.	7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.	8 This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and beneficial to others.
9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.	9 Avoid foolish arguments, genealogies, rivalries, and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and futile.
10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;	10 After a first and second warning, break off contact with a heretic,
11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.	11 realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and stands self-condemned.
12 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.	12 When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, try to join me at Nicopolis, where I have decided to spend the winter.
13 Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.	13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey soon, and see to it that they have everything they need.
14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.	14 But let our people, too, learn to devote themselves to good works to supply urgent needs, so that they may not be unproductive.
15 All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.	15 All who are with me send you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you.
