KING JAMES BIBLEBIBLES DES PEUPLES
Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.1 À ce moment-là, je vis que sur la plate-forme, au-dessus des chérubins, il y avait une pierre de saphir qui formait comme un trône.
And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.2 Alors il dit à l’homme habillé de lin: “Passe en dessous, entre les roues, et prends à pleines mains des charbons que tu répandras sur la ville.” L’homme y alla sous mes yeux;
Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.3 pendant qu’il s’y glissait, les chérubins se tenaient à l’arrêt sur le côté sud et la nuée remplissait la cour intérieure.
Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD's glory.4 La Gloire de Yahvé s’éleva de dessus le chérubin, en direction de la porte du Temple; la nuée remplissait le Temple et toute la cour était inondée de l’éclat de la gloire de Yahvé.
And the sound of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.5 Le bruit des ailes des chérubins s’entendait jusque dans la cour extérieure, on aurait cru la voix du Dieu Tout-Puissant lorsqu’il parle.
And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.6 Il donna cet ordre à l’homme habillé de lin: “Prends du feu au milieu des roues entre les chérubins.” L’homme s’approcha et se tint près de la roue.
And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.7 Le chérubin étendit la main vers le feu, il en prit et déposa les braises dans la main de l’homme habillé de lin; celui-ci les prit et sortit.
And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings.8 J’ai bien vu alors comme une main d’homme sous les ailes des chérubins.
And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone.9 J’ai vu quatre roues placées à côté des chérubins (il y avait une roue à côté de chaque chérubin) et les roues avaient l’éclat de la pierre précieuse.
And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.10 Les quatre roues avaient la même forme: on aurait dit que chaque roue était faite de deux roues entrecroisées.
When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.11 Elles pouvaient donc aller sans se tourner vers les quatre points cardinaux, elles allaient sans se tourner dans la même direction où était la face du chérubin.
And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.12 Les jantes des quatre roues étaient remplies d’yeux tout autour.
As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.13 J’entendis alors que l’on donnait à ces roues le nom de ‘tourbillon’.
And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.14 NO TEXT
And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.15 NO TEXT
And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.16 Lorsque les chérubins avançaient, les roues avançaient avec eux; lorsque les chérubins déployaient leurs ailes pour s’élever de terre, les roues ne cessaient de les accompagner.
When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.17 Lorsque les chérubins s’arrêtaient, les roues s’arrêtaient, et lorsqu’ils s’élevaient elles s’élevaient avec eux, car l’esprit de l’être vivant était en elles.
Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.18 La Gloire de Yahvé sortit du Temple et s’arrêta au-dessus des chérubins.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD's house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.19 Sous mes yeux, les chérubins ouvrirent leurs ailes pour s’élever de terre, et ils sortirent accompagnés par les roues; ils s’arrêtèrent à l’entrée de la porte orientale du Temple de Yahvé, avec la gloire du Dieu d’Israël reposant sur eux.
This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims.20 C’étaient bien les êtres vivants que j’avais vus au bord du fleuve Kébar portant le Dieu d’Israël; alors j’ai su que c’étaient des chérubins.
Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.21 Chacun avait quatre visages et quatre ailes, et sous leurs ailes ils avaient comme des mains d’homme.
And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.22 Leurs visages étaient les mêmes que j’avais vus près du fleuve Kébar: chacun allait droit dans la direction d’une de ses faces.
