1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.	1 Vous ne vous ferez pas d’idoles. Vous ne dresserez pas de statues ou de stèles. Vous ne placerez pas dans votre pays des pierres sculptées pour vous prosterner devant elles: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!
2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.	2 Vous observerez mes sabbats et vous respecterez mon sanctuaire: je suis Yahvé!
3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;	3 Si vous suivez mes lois, si vous observez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique,
4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.	4 je vous enverrai la pluie en sa saison; la terre donnera ses produits et les arbres des champs leurs fruits.
5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.	5 Le battage du blé se prolongera chez vous jusqu’à la vendange, et le temps de la vendange rejoindra celui des semailles. Vous ne manquerez jamais de pain et vous habiterez en paix dans votre pays.
6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.	6 Je donnerai la paix à votre pays et vous dormirez sans que personne ne vous inquiète. Je ferai disparaître du pays les bêtes féroces, et l’épée ne traversera pas votre pays.
7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.	7 Vous poursuivrez vos ennemis et ils tomberont sous votre épée,
8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.	8 cinq d’entre vous en poursuivront cent, et cent d’entre vous en poursuivront dix mille; vos ennemis tomberont sous votre épée.
9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.	9 Je m’intéresserai à vous et je ferai honneur à mon alliance avec vous: je vous ferai fructifier et vous vous multiplierez,
10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.	10 vous n’aurez pas fini de manger l’ancienne récolte que la nouvelle sera déjà là.
11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.	11 Je mettrai ma Demeure au milieu de vous et je ne vous prendrai pas en horreur.
12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.	12 Je me promènerai au milieu de vous, je serai votre Dieu et vous serez mon peuple.
13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.	13 Car je suis Yahvé, votre Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte pour mettre fin à votre esclavage. J’ai brisé le joug qui pesait sur vous et je vous ai fait marcher la tête haute.
14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;	14 Mais si vous ne m’écoutez pas, si vous ne mettez pas en pratique tous ces commandements,
15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:	15 si vous méprisez mes préceptes et rejetez mes ordonnances, si vous violez mon alliance au lieu de pratiquer tous mes commandements,
16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.	16 voici ce qu’à mon tour je ferai: j’enverrai contre vous la terreur, la peste et la fièvre. Vos yeux s’affaibliront et votre santé déclinera. Vous sèmerez mais vos ennemis mangeront la récolte.
17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.	17 Je me joindrai à vos adversaires et vous serez battus par vos ennemis. Ceux qui vous haïssent domineront sur vous et vous fuirez alors même que personne ne vous poursuit.
18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.	18 Et si après tout cela vous ne m’écoutez pas, je vous châtierai sept fois plus que vous n’aurez péché,
19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:	19 jusqu’à briser votre orgueilleuse puissance. Les cieux seront pour vous de fer et votre terre sera de bronze.
20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.	20 Vous dépenserez vos forces sans résultat; votre terre ne donnera plus sa récolte et les arbres de la terre ne donneront plus leurs fruits.
21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.	21 Si vous continuez de me résister et ne voulez pas m’écouter, je vous frapperai sept fois plus que vous n’aurez péché.
22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate.	22 Je lâcherai contre vous les animaux sauvages qui dévoreront vos enfants et déchireront votre bétail; je vous réduirai à presque rien et vos chemins deviendront déserts.
23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;	23 Si après tout cela vous ne vous laissez pas corriger par moi, si vous me résistez encore,
24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.	24 moi aussi je vous résisterai et je vous frapperai sept fois plus que vous n’aurez péché.
25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.	25 Je ferai venir contre vous l’épée qui vengera mon Alliance. Quand vous vous réfugierez dans vos villes, j’enverrai la peste au milieu de vous et vous serez livrés aux mains de vos ennemis.
26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.	26 Je vous priverai de pain, à tel point que dix femmes le cuiront dans un seul four. Elles vous donneront le pain si mesuré que vous mangerez sans vous rassasier.
27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;	27 Si après tout cela vous ne m’écoutez toujours pas et me résistez encore,
28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.	28 je m’en prendrai à vous avec colère et je vous châtierai sept fois plus que vous n’aurez péché.
29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.	29 Vous mangerez la chair de vos fils et la chair de vos filles.
30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.	30 Je détruirai vos hauts-lieux et je briserai vos pierres dressées. Je jetterai vos cadavres sur les cadavres de vos sales idoles et je vous rejetterai avec dégoût.
31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.	31 Je réduirai vos villes en ruines et je détruirai vos sanctuaires, je me détournerai de l’odeur de vos sacrifices.
32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.	32 Et je dévasterai le pays au point que vos ennemis en seront étonnés quand ils viendront l’habiter.
33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.	33 Je vous disperserai parmi les nations et je dégainerai contre vous l’épée. Votre pays sera dévasté, et vos villes resteront en ruines.
34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.	34 Alors la terre jouira de ses repos sabbatiques tout le temps que durera votre exil et que vous serez dans le pays de vos ennemis. Oui, la terre se reposera et elle aura son repos.
35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.	35 Durant tout le temps de son abandon elle aura le repos, puisqu’elle n’avait pas connu de sabbat lorsque vous l’habitiez.
36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.	36 Je mettrai la panique au cœur de tous ceux d’entre vous qui survivront dans le pays de leurs ennemis. Au seul bruit d’une feuille qui s’agite, ils fuiront comme on fuit devant l’épée, ils tomberont sans que personne ne les poursuive,
37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.	37 ils trébucheront les uns sur les autres, comme fuyant l’épée, alors que personne ne les poursuit. Vous ne pourrez pas résister à vos ennemis.
38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.	38 Vous mourrez sur la terre des autres nations et le pays de vos ennemis vous dévorera.
39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies' lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.	39 Ceux qui resteront pourriront en terre étrangère à cause de leurs péchés, et à cause des péchés de leurs pères qu’ils portent encore sur eux.
40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;	40 Alors ils confesseront leurs péchés et les fautes de leurs pères, les infidélités qu’ils ont commises contre moi quand ils me résistaient,
41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:	41 et que, moi aussi, je leur résistais jusqu’à les déporter au pays de leurs ennemis. Peut-être alors leur cœur incirconcis se repentira-t-il? Peut-être paieront-ils leurs fautes?
42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.	42 Alors je me souviendrai de l’alliance que j’ai faite avec Jacob, et de mon alliance avec Isaac, et de mon alliance avec Abraham. Et quand je m’en souviendrai, je me souviendrai du pays.
43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.	43 La terre sera donc abandonnée par eux, pour qu’elle acquitte ses sabbats, tout le temps qu’elle restera en friche loin d’eux et qu’ils paieront leurs fautes, après avoir méprisé mes commandements et n’avoir montré que du dégoût pour mes lois.
44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.	44 Malgré cela, je ne les abandonnerai pas lorsqu’ils seront dispersés dans le pays de leurs ennemis. Je ne les rejetterai pas au point de les exterminer et de rompre mon alliance avec eux, car je suis Yahvé leur Dieu.
45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.	45 Je me souviendrai en leur faveur de l’Alliance que j’ai faite avec leurs pères, quand je les ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte sous les yeux des nations pour être leur Dieu: je suis Yahvé!”
46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.	46 Voilà donc les sentences, les règles, et les lois que Yahvé fixa entre lui et les Israélites sur la montagne du Sinaï par le ministère de Moïse.
