1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Tu parleras aux prêtres, aux fils d’Aaron, et tu leur diras: Aucun de vous ne se rendra impur pour un mort de son entourage.
2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,	2 Seulement s’il s’agit d’un parent tout proche, de sa mère ou de son père, de son fils ou de sa fille, de son frère,
3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.	3 d’une sœur encore vierge qui vit auprès de lui sans être mariée, le prêtre pourra se rendre impur.
4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.	4 Il est seigneur au milieu de son peuple, il ne se souillera donc pas et ne profanera pas sa dignité.
5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.	5 Les prêtres ne se raseront pas la tête; ils ne tailleront pas les côtés de leur barbe; ils ne se feront pas d’incision dans la chair.
6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.	6 Ils devront être saints pour leur Dieu et ne pas profaner son Nom. Ce sont eux qui présentent les sacrifices en l’honneur de Yahvé, les holocaustes, le pain de leur Dieu, c’est pourquoi ils seront saints.
7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.	7 Ils ne prendront pas comme femme une prostituée ou une femme de mauvaise réputation. Le prêtre ne prendra pas une femme répudiée par son mari, car il a été consacré à son Dieu.
8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.	8 Tu le regarderas comme saint, car il offre le pain de ton Dieu. Il sera saint à tes yeux, car je suis saint, moi Yahvé qui vous sanctifie.
9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.	9 Si la fille d’un prêtre se profane elle-même en se prostituant, elle déshonore son père: elle sera brûlée vive.
10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;	10 Quand le grand prêtre a été élevé au-dessus de ses frères, qu’on a versé sur sa tête l’huile de consécration et qu’il a été choisi pour revêtir les vêtements sacrés, il ne doit plus dénouer sa chevelure et déchirer ses vêtements.
11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;	11 Il ne se rendra pas impur en s’approchant d’un mort, même s’il s’agit de son père ou de sa mère.
12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.	12 Il ne peut pas sortir du lieu saint sans profaner l’ordre du lieu saint de son Dieu, car l’huile qui l’a consacré à son Dieu est comme un diadème sur sa tête: je suis Yahvé.
13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity.	13 Il prendra pour femme une vierge.
14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.	14 Il ne prendra ni une veuve, ni une femme répudiée, ni une femme de mauvaise réputation, ni une prostituée, mais seulement une vierge de son peuple.
15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.	15 Il ne déshonorera pas sa famille au milieu de son peuple, car je suis Yahvé, c’est moi qui le sanctifie.”
16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	16 Yahvé parla à Moïse et lui dit:
17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.	17 “Voici ce que tu diras à Aaron: aucun de tes descendants, maintenant comme dans l’avenir, n’approchera pour offrir le pain de ton Dieu, s’il a une infirmité corporelle.
18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,	18 Voici ceux qui ont une difformité corporelle: l’aveugle, le boiteux, celui qui a été mutilé ou qui a une excroissance de chair,
19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,	19 l’homme qui a eu le pied ou la main fracturé,
20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;	20 le bossu et le nain, celui qui a une tache à l’œil, celui qui a la gale, une plaque ou les testicules écrasés. Aucun de ceux-là n’approchera.
21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.	21 Aucun descendant d’Aaron ayant une infirmité corporelle ne s’approchera pour offrir à Yahvé les holocaustes. Celui qui a une infirmité ne peut pas offrir le pain de son Dieu.
22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.	22 Il pourra manger le pain de son Dieu, manger des choses saintes,
23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.	23 mais il n’ira pas vers le rideau de la Demeure; il ne s’approchera pas de l’autel, à cause de son infirmité corporelle. Ce serait profaner mon sanctuaire, et moi je suis Yahvé qui les sanctifie.”
24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.	24 C’est ainsi que Moïse parla à Aaron et à ses fils, ainsi qu’à tous les Israélites.
