Isaiah 57

1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.	1 - Il giusto perisce e non è alcuno che vi ponga mente; e gli uomini pii sono raccolti [dal mondo] senza che alcuno comprenda come innanzi che s'affacci il male è raccolto il giusto.
2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.	2 Che la pace giunga, vada agli eterni riposi chiunque ha camminato nella rettitudine.
3 But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.	3 Ma voi appressatevi qua, figli della megera, razza adulterina e imbastardita!
4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,	4 Di chi vi siete voi presi giuoco? contro di chi avete spalancata la bocca e messa fuori la lingua? non siete voi figli scellerati, razza degenerata?
5 Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?	5 Voi che trovate la vostra consolazione negli idoli, sotto ogni albero frondoso, immolando nei torrenti i bambini sotto il cavo di rupi prominenti.
6 Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?	6 Nelle pietre che fan parte d'un torrente hai scelto la tua parte: questa è la tua sorte! Ad esse hai profuso libazioni, hai offerto sacrifizi! Non mi muoverò io a sdegno per cose tali?
7 Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.	7 Sopra un monte alto ed elevato collocasti il tuo giaciglio e salisti lassù per immolare delle vittime.
8 Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.	8 Dietro la porta e dietro le imposte hai collocato il ricordo dei tuoi idoli; sì, a fianco di me ti sei discoperta e hai accolto un adultero; hai fatto letto assieme e avuto relazioni con loro; hai amato di giacere con loro dovunque l'occasione ti fu sotto mano!
9 And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.	9 Ti sei imbellettata di pomate cortigianesche e hai moltiplicati i cosmetici; hai mandato i tuoi ambasciatori fin lontano, fin sotto terra ti sei abbassata!
10 Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.	10 Affaticata nella moltitudine dei tuoi passi non hai detto: «Voglio star quieta!». Hai ritrovato ancora della vita nelle tue mani, per cui non hai implorato aiuto.
11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?	11 E di chi hai avuto tanta affannosa paura, da rinnegarmi e non ricordarti più di me, nè prenderti pensiero? Perchè io taceva come se non vedessi, tu ti sei scordata di me.
12 I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.	12 Ben io annunzierò la tua giustizia, e le tue opere non ti gioveranno.
13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;	13 Quando tu griderai, ti salvino coloro che hai radunati attorno a te; ma tutti se li porterà il vento, un soffio li travolgerà. Chi invece avrà fiducia in me possederà la terra, possederà il mio santo monte.
14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.	14 Ed io dirò: «Fate strada, aprite la via, sgombrate il cammino; togliete dalla via del mio popolo ogni inciampo.
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.	15 Perchè dice così l'eccelso e l'Altissimo che abita l'eternità, e Santo è il nome suo; che risiede nel cielo eccelso e nel santuario, e collo spirito contrito ed umile, per vivificare lo spirito degli umili, per vivificare i cuori contriti.
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.	16 Io non starò eternamente a contendere: io non starò continuamente corrucciato, perchè dalla mia faccia lo spirito uscirà e i soffi di vita sarò io che rifarò.
17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.	17 Per l'iniqua sua avarizia io mi adirai e l'ho percosso; ho nascosto da te la mia faccia e mi sono sdegnato: ed egli se ne andò vagando nella via del suo cuore.
18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.	18 Ho visto i suoi andamenti e ho voluto metterci rimedio, e lo ricondussi; e lo ripagherò in consolazioni, lui e i suoi afflitti.
19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.	19 Ho creato il frutto delle labbra, la pace! Pace a chi è lontano e a chi è vicino, ha detto il Signore, e io l'ho risanato».
20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.	20 Ma gli empi saranno come un mare sconvolto che non può trovare la calma, i flutti del quale rigettano melma e fango.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.	21 Non v'è pace per gli empi, dice il Signore Dio.
