KING JAMES BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,1 Respondens autem Baldad Suhites dixit:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?2 “ Usquequo loqueris talia,
et spiritus vehemens sermones oris tui?
3 Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?3 Numquid Deus supplantat iudicium,
aut Omnipotens subvertit, quod iustum est?
4 If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;4 Et si filii tui peccaverunt ei,
et dimisit eos in manu iniquitatis suae,
5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;5 tu tamen, si diluculo consurrexeris ad Deum
et Omnipotentem fueris deprecatus,
6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.6 si mundus et rectus incesseris,
statim evigilabit ad te
et pacatum reddet habitaculum iustitiae tuae;
7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.7 in tantum ut, si priora tua fuerint parva,
et novissima tua multiplicentur nimis.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:8 Interroga enim generationem pristinam
et diligenter investiga patrum memoriam.
9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)9 Hesterni quippe sumus et ignoramus,
quoniam sicut umbra dies nostri sunt super terram.
10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?10 Nonne ipsi docebunt te, loquentur tibi
et de corde suo proferent eloquia?
11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?11 Numquid virere potest scirpus absque umore,
aut crescere carectum sine aqua?
12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.12 Cum adhuc sit in flore, nec carpatur manu,
ante omnes herbas arescit.
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:13 Sic viae omnium, qui obliviscuntur Deum,
et spes impii peribit.
14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.14 Cuius spes filum tenue,
et sicut tela aranearum fiducia eius.
15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.15 Innitetur super domum suam et nonstabit;
fulciet eam et non consurget.
16 He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.16 Umectus videtur, antequam veniat sol,
et in horto suo germen eius egredietur.
17 His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.17 Super acervum petrarum radices eius densabuntur,
et inter lapides commorabitur.
18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.18 Si absorbuerit eum de loco suo,
negabit eum et dicet: “Non novi te”.
19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.19 Haec est enim laetitia viae eius,
ut rursum de terra alii germinentur.
20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:20 Deus non proiciet simplicem
nec porriget manum malignis,
21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.21 donec impleatur risu os tuum,
et labia tua iubilo.
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.22 Qui oderunt te, induentur confusione,
et tabernaculum impiorum non subsistet ”.
