Exodus 24

1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the LORD, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.	1 Il dit à Moïse: "Montez vers Yahvé, toi, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu et 70 des anciens d'Israël, et vousvous prosternerez à distance.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.	2 Moïse s'approchera seul de Yahvé. Eux n'approcheront pas et le peuple ne montera pas avec lui."
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.	3 Moïse vint rapporter au peuple toutes les paroles de Yahvé et toutes les lois, et tout le peuplerépondit d'une seule voix; ils dirent: "Toutes les paroles que Yahvé a prononcées, nous les mettrons en pratique."
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.	4 Moïse mit par écrit toutes les paroles de Yahvé puis, se levant de bon matin, il bâtit un autel au basde la montagne, et douze stèles pour les douze tribus d'Israël.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.	5 Puis il envoya de jeunes Israélites offrir des holocaustes et immoler à Yahvé de jeunes taureaux ensacrifice de communion.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.	6 Moïse prit la moitié du sang et la mit dans des bassins, et l'autre moitié du sang, il la répandit surl'autel.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.	7 Il prit le livre de l'Alliance et il en fit la lecture au peuple qui déclara: "Tout ce que Yahvé a dit,nous le ferons et nous y obéirons."
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.	8 Moïse, ayant pris le sang, le répandit sur le peuple et dit: "Ceci est le sang de l'Alliance que Yahvé aconclue avec vous moyennant toutes ces clauses."
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:	9 Moïse monta, ainsi qu'Aaron, Nadab, Abihu et 70 des anciens d'Israël.
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.	10 Ils virent le Dieu d'Israël. Sous ses pieds il y avait comme un pavement de saphir, aussi pur que leciel même.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.	11 Il ne porta pas la main sur les notables des Israélites. Ils contemplèrent Dieu puis ils mangèrent etburent.
12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.	12 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Monte vers moi sur la montagne et demeure là, que je te donne les tables depierre -- la loi et le commandement -- que j'ai écrites pour leur instruction."
13 And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.	13 Moïse se leva, ainsi que Josué son serviteur, et ils montèrent à la montagne de Dieu.
14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.	14 Il dit aux anciens: "Attendez-nous ici jusqu'à notre retour; vous avez avec vous Aaron et Hur, quecelui qui a une affaire à régler s'adresse à eux."
15 And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.	15 Puis Moïse monta sur la montagne. La nuée couvrit la montagne.
16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.	16 La gloire de Yahvé s'établit sur le mont Sinaï, et la nuée le couvrit pendant six jours. Le septièmejour, Yahvé appela Moïse du milieu de la nuée.
17 And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.	17 L'aspect de la gloire de Yahvé était aux yeux des Israélites celui d'une flamme dévorante ausommet de la montagne.
18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.	18 Moïse entra dans la nuée et monta sur la montagne. Et Moïse demeura sur la montagne 40 jours et40 nuits.
