1 Mivel tovább már nem állhattuk meg, jónak láttuk, hogy magunkra maradjunk Athénben,	1 That is why, when we could bear it no longer, we decided to remain alone in Athens

6 Most viszont, amikor Timóteus visszatért tőletek hozzánk, és hírt hozott hitetekről és szeretetetekről, s arról, hogy mindig örömmel emlékeztek ránk, és látni kívántok minket, ahogy mi is titeket,	6 But just now Timothy has returned to us from you, bringing us the good news of your faith and love, and that you always think kindly of us and long to see us as we long to see you.
7 vigasztalást találtunk bennetek és a ti hitetekben, testvérek, minden ínségünk és szorongatásunk ellenére is.	7 Because of this, we have been reassured about you, brothers, in our every distress and affliction, through your faith.
8 Most újra feléledünk, mert ti állhatatosak vagytok az Úrban.	8 For we now live, if you stand firm in the Lord.
9 Mivel is róhatnánk le hálánkat értetek Istennél a bőséges örömért, mellyel örvendezünk miattatok a mi Istenünk előtt?	9 What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God for you, for all the joy we feel on your account before our God?
10 Éjjel-nappal igen buzgón esedezünk, hogy meglássuk arcotokat, és pótoljuk azt, ami hiányos még a hitetekben.	10 Night and day we pray beyond measure to see you in person and to remedy the deficiencies of your faith.

13 s így szívetek erős legyen, feddhetetlen és szent Istenünk és Atyánk előtt, amikor Urunk, Jézus eljön minden szentjével. Ámen.	13 so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. (Amen.)
