JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Alors le roi fit convoquer auprès de lui tous les anciens de Juda et de Jérusalem,	1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 et le roi monta au Temple de Yahvé avec tous les hommes de Juda et tous les habitants deJérusalem, les prêtres et les prophètes et tout le peuple du plus petit au plus grand. Il lut devant eux tout lecontenu du livre de l'alliance trouvé dans le Temple de Yahvé.	2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.
3 Le roi était debout sur l'estrade et il conclut devant Yahvé l'alliance qui l'obligeait à suivre Yahvé età garder ses commandements, ses instructions et ses lois, de tout son coeur et de toute son âme, pour rendreeffectives les clauses de l'alliance écrite dans ce livre. Tout le peuple adhéra à l'alliance.	3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4 Le roi ordonna à Hilqiyyahu, au prêtre en second et aux gardiens du seuil de retirer du sanctuaire deYahvé tous les objets de culte qui avaient été faits pour Baal, pour Ashéra et pour toute l'armée du ciel; il lesbrûla en dehors de Jérusalem, dans les champs du Cédron, et porta leur cendre à Béthel.	4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
5 Il supprima les faux prêtres que les rois de Juda avaient installés et qui sacrifiaient dans les hautslieux, dans les villes de Juda et les environs de Jérusalem, et ceux qui sacrifiaient à Baal, au soleil, à la lune, auxconstellations et à toute l'armée du ciel.	5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6 Il transporta du Temple de Yahvé en dehors de Jérusalem, à la vallée du Cédron, le pieu sacré et lebrûla dans la vallée du Cédron; il le réduisit en cendres et jeta ses cendres à la fosse commune.	6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7 Il démolit la demeure des prostitués sacrés, qui était dans le Temple de Yahvé et où les femmestissaient des voiles pour Ashéra.	7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8 Il fit venir des villes de Juda tous les prêtres et il profana les hauts lieux où ces prêtres avaientsacrifié, depuis Géba jusqu'à Bersabée. Il démolit le haut lieu des portes, qui était à la porte de Josué, gouverneurde la ville, à gauche quand on franchit la porte de la ville.	8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.
9 Toutefois les prêtres des hauts lieux ne pouvaient pas monter à l'autel de Yahvé à Jérusalem, maisils mangeaient des pains sans levain au milieu de leurs frères.	9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10 Il profana le Tophèt de la vallée de Ben-Hinnom, pour que personne ne fît plus passer son fils ousa fille par le feu en l'honneur de Molek.	10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11 Il fit disparaître les chevaux que les rois de Juda avaient dédiés au soleil à l'entrée du Temple deYahvé, près de la chambre de l'eunuque Netân-Mélek, dans les dépendances, et il brûla au feu le char du soleil.	11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12 Les autels qui étaient sur la terrasse et qu'avaient bâtis les rois de Juda, et ceux qu'avait bâtisManassé dans les deux cours du Temple de Yahvé, le roi les démolit, les brisa là et jeta leur poussière dans lavallée du Cédron.	12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13 Les hauts lieux qui étaient en face de Jérusalem, au sud du mont des Oliviers, et que Salomon roid'Israël avait bâtis pour Astarté, l'horreur des Sidoniens, pour Kemosh, l'horreur des Moabites, et pour Milkom,l'abomination des Ammonites, le roi les profana.	13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14 Il brisa aussi les stèles, coupa les pieux sacrés et combla leur emplacement avec des ossementshumains.	14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15 De même pour l'autel qui était à Béthel, le haut lieu bâti par Jéroboam fils de Nebat qui avaitentraîné Israël dans le péché, il démolit aussi cet autel et ce haut lieu, il en brisa les pierres et les réduisit enpoussière; il brûla le pieu sacré.	15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16 Josias se retourna et vit les tombeaux qui étaient là, dans la montagne; il envoya prendre lesossements de ces tombeaux et les brûla sur l'autel. Ainsi il le profana, accomplissant la parole de Yahvé qu'avaitannoncée l'homme de Dieu lorsque Jéroboam se tenait à l'autel pendant la fête. En se retournant, Josias leva lesyeux sur le tombeau de l'homme de Dieu qui avait annoncé ces choses	16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17 et il demanda: "Quel est le monument que je vois?" Les hommes de la ville lui répondirent: "C'estle tombeau de l'homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda et qui a annoncé ces choses que tu as accomplies contrel'autel" --	17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.
18 "Laissez-le en paix, dit le roi, et que personne ne dérange ses ossements." On laissa donc sesossements intacts avec les ossements du prophète qui était de Samarie.	18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19 Josias fit également disparaître tous les temples des hauts lieux qui étaient dans les villes de laSamarie, et que les rois d'Israël avaient bâtis pour l'irritation de Yahvé et il agit à leur endroit exactement commeil avait agi à Béthel.	19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
20 Tous les prêtres des hauts lieux qui étaient là furent immolés par lui sur les autels et il y brûla desossements humains. Puis il revint à Jérusalem.	20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21 Le roi donna cet ordre à tout le peuple: "Célébrez une Pâque en l'honneur de Yahvé votre Dieu, dela manière qui est écrite dans ce livre de l'alliance."	21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22 On n'avait pas célébré une Pâque comme celle-là depuis les jours des Juges qui avaient régi Israëlet pendant tout le temps des rois d'Israël et des rois de Juda.	22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23 C'est seulement en la dix-huitième année du roi Josias qu'une telle Pâque fut célébrée en l'honneurde Yahvé à Jérusalem.	23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.
24 De plus, les nécromants et les devins, les dieux domestiques et les idoles, et toutes les horreursqu'on pouvait voir dans le pays de Juda et à Jérusalem, Josias les fit disparaître, en exécution des paroles de laLoi inscrites au livre qu'avait trouvé le prêtre Hilqiyyahu dans le Temple de Yahvé.	24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
25 Il n'y eut avant lui aucun roi qui se fût, comme lui, tourné vers Yahvé de tout son coeur, de touteson âme et de toute sa force, en toute fidélité à la Loi de Moïse, et après lui il ne s'en leva pas qui lui fûtcomparable.	25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26 Pourtant, Yahvé ne revint pas de l'ardeur de sa grande colère, qui s'était enflammée contre Judapour les déplaisirs que Manassé lui avait causés.	26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27 Yahvé décida: "J'écarterai Juda aussi de devant moi, comme j'ai écarté Israël, je rejetterai cetteville que j'avais élue, Jérusalem, et le Temple dont j'avais dit: Là sera mon Nom."	27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28 Le reste de l'histoire de Josias, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?	28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 De son temps, le Pharaon Neko, roi d'Egypte, monta vers le roi d'Assyrie, sur le fleuve del'Euphrate. Le roi Josias se porta au-devant de lui mais Neko le fit périr à Megiddo, à la première rencontre.	29 In his days Pharaoh-nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30 Ses serviteurs transportèrent son corps en char depuis Megiddo, ils le ramenèrent à Jérusalem etl'ensevelirent dans son tombeau. Le peuple du pays prit Joachaz fils de Josias; on lui donna l'onction et on leproclama roi à la place de son père.	30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.
31 Joachaz avait 23 ans à son avènement et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitHamital, fille de Yirmeyahu, et était de Libna.	31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, tout comme avaient fait ses pères.	32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
33 Le Pharaon Neko le mit aux chaînes à Ribla, dans le territoire de Hamat, pour qu'il ne règne plus àJérusalem, et il imposa au pays une contribution de cent talents d'argent et de talents d'or.	33 And Pharaoh-nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34 Le Pharaon Neko établit comme roi Elyaqim, fils de Josias, à la place de son père Josias, et ilchangea son nom en celui de Joiaqim. Quant à Joachaz, il le prit et l'emmena en Egypte, où il mourut.	34 And Pharaoh-nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35 Joiaqim livra à Pharaon l'argent et l'or mais il dut imposer le pays pour livrer la somme exigée parPharaon: il leva sur chacun, selon sa fortune, l'argent et l'or qu'il fallait donner au Pharaon Neko.	35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh-nechoh.
36 Joiaqim avait 25 ans à son avènement et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelait Zebida,fille de Pedaya, et était de Ruma.	36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, tout comme avaient fait ses pères.	37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
