24 Quand vint le temps de ses couches, voici qu'elle portait des jumeaux. | 24 When the time came for her confinement, there were indeed twins in her womb. |
25 Le premier sortit: il était roux et tout entier comme un manteau de poils; on l'appela Esaü. | 25 The first to be born was red, altogether like a hairy cloak; so they named him Esau. |
26 Ensuite sortit son frère et sa main tenait le talon d'Esaü; on l'appela Jacob. Isaac avait 60 ans àleur naissance. | 26 Then his brother was born, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so they named him Jacob. Isaac wassixty years old at the time of their birth. |
27 Les garçons grandirent: Esaü devint un habile chasseur, courant la steppe, Jacob était un hommetranquille, demeurant sous les tentes. | 27 When the boys grew up Esau became a skil ed hunter, a man of the open country. Jacob on theother hand was a quiet man, staying at home among the tents. |
