1 With three things my spirit is pleased, which are approved before God and men:	1 Il y a trois choses que je trouve belles, qui sont belles pour Dieu comme pour les hommes: l’union entre des frères, l’amitié entre des proches, et la parfaite harmonie entre mari et femme.
2 The concord of brethren, and the love of neighbours, and mall and wife that agree well together.	2 Il y a trois sortes de gens que je déteste, et dont je ne supporte pas la présence: un pauvre orgueilleux, un riche qui ment, un vieillard vicieux et sot.
3 Three sorts my soul hateth, and I am greatly grieved at their life:	3 Si tu n’as rien amassé dans ta jeunesse, avec quoi te retrouveras-tu dans ta vieillesse?
4 A poor man that is proud: a rich man that is a liar: an old man that is a fool, and doting.	4 C’est une belle chose qu’un homme âgé qui a bon jugement, un ancien qui sait conseiller.
5 The things that thou hast not gathered in thy youth, how shalt thou find them in thy old age?	5 C’est une belle chose qu’un vieillard qui est sage, un homme estimé qui comprend et sait décider.
6 O how comely is judgment for a grey head, and for ancients to know counsel!	6 Une riche expérience est la couronne des gens âgés; ils peuvent être fiers s’ils ont la crainte du Seigneur.
7 O how comely is wisdom for the aged, and understanding and counsel to men of honour!	7 Il y a neuf choses que j’estime heureuses, et j’en ajouterai une dixième: celui qui trouve sa joie dans ses enfants; celui qui voit avant de mourir la ruine de ses ennemis.
8 Much experience is the crown of old men, and the fear of God is their glory.	8 Heureux encore l’homme qui vit avec une femme de bon sens; celui qui ne laboure pas avec un âne et un bœuf; celui qui n’a pas fauté en paroles; celui qui ne sert pas un maître indigne de lui.
9 Nine things that are not to be imagined by the heart have I magnified, and the tenth I will utter to men with my tongue.	9 Heureux celui qui a acquis un bon jugement, et celui qui sait se faire écouter.
10 A man that hath joy of his children: and he that liveth and seeth the fall of his enemies.	10 Qu’il est grand, celui qui trouve la sagesse! Mais il ne dépasse pas celui qui craint le Seigneur.
11 Blessed is he. that dwelleth with a wise woman, and that hath not slipped with his tongue, and that hath not served such as are unworthy of him.	11 La crainte du Seigneur est au-dessus de tout: à qui comparer celui qui la possède?
12 Blessed is he that findeth a true friend, and that declareth justice to an ear that heareth.	12 NO TEXT
13 How great is he that findeth wisdom and knowledge! but there is none above him that feareth the Lord.	13 N’importe quelle blessure, plutôt que blessure de cœur! N’importe quelle méchanceté, mais qu’elle ne vienne pas d’une femme!
14 The fear of God hath set itself above all things:	14 N’importe quel embarras, mais pas à cause d’un adversaire! N’importe quelle sentence, mais pas dictée par un ennemi.
15 Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?	15 Pas de tête plus redoutable que celle du serpent, pas de pire fureur que celle de l’ennemi!
16 The fear of God is the beginning of his love: and the beginning of faith is to be fast joined unto it.	16 J’habiterais plus volontiers avec un lion ou un dragon qu’avec une femme méchante.
17 The sadness of the heart is every plague: and the wickedness of a woman is all evil.	17 La méchanceté de la femme lui change le visage, il en devient plus sombre que celui d’un ours.
18 And a man will choose any plague, but the plague of the heart:	18 Son mari part s’asseoir avec ses voisins, et il ne peut pas s’empêcher de soupirer.
19 And ally wickedness, but the wickedness of a woman:	19 Toute méchanceté est peu de chose près d’une malice de femme: puisse la punition des pécheurs tomber sur elle!
20 And any affliction, but the affliction from them that hate him:	20 Une montée sablonneuse sous les pas d’un vieillard: telle est la femme bavarde pour un mari de bon caractère.
21 And ally revenge, but the revenge of enemies.	21 Ne te laisse pas prendre à la beauté d’une femme, ne la convoite pas!
22 There is no head worse than the head of a serpent:	22 Mauvaise humeur, impatience, reproches…, il fallait s’y attendre si c’est la femme qui commande au mari!
23 And there is no anger above the anger of a woman. It will be more agreeable to abide with a lion and a dragon, than to dwell with a wicked woman.	23 Cœur abattu, visage attristé et blessure cachée: voilà le travail d’une femme méchante! Bras ballants et genoux mal assurés: elle ne rend pas heureux son mari!
24 The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours,	24 Le péché a commencé avec la femme: c’est à cause d’elle que tous nous mourons.
25 Her husband groaned, and hearing he sighed a little.	25 Arrête aussitôt les fuites d’eau! ne laisse pas une méchante femme s’imposer.
26 All malice is shore to the malice of a woman, let the lot of sinners fall upon her.	26 Si elle ne marche pas comme tu lui dis, plus de relations!
27 As the climbing of a sandy way is to the feet of the aged, so is a wife full of tongue to a quiet man.
28 Look not upon a woman's beauty, and desire not a woman for beauty.
29 A woman's anger, and impudence, and confusion is great.
30 A woman, if she have superiority, is contrary to her husband.
31 A wicked woman abateth the courage, and maketh a heavy countenance, and a wounded heart.
32 Feeble hands, and disjointed knees, a woman that doth not make her husband happy.
33 From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die.
34 Give no issue to thy water, no, not a little: nor to a wicked woman liberty to gad abroad.
35 If she walk not at thy hand, she will confound thee in the sight of thy enemies.
36 Cut her off from thy flesh, lest she always abuse thee.
