1 And after that men began to be multiplied upon the earth, and daughters were born to them.	1 Als sich die Menschen über die Erde hin zu vermehren begannen und ihnen Töchter geboren wurden,
2 The sons of God seeing the daughters of men, that they were fair, took themselves wives of all which they chose.	2 sahen die Gottessöhne, wie schön die Menschentöchter waren, und sie nahmen sich von ihnen Frauen, wie es ihnen gefiel.
3 And God said: My spirit shall not remain in man for ever, because he is flesh, and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.	3 Da sprach der Herr: Mein Geist soll nicht für immer im Menschen bleiben, weil er auch Fleisch ist; daher soll seine Lebenszeit hundertzwanzig Jahre betragen.
4 Now giants were upon the earth in those days. For after the sons of God went in to the daughters of men and they brought forth children, these are the mighty men of old, men of renown.	4 In jenen Tagen gab es auf der Erde die Riesen, und auch später noch, nachdem sich die Gottessöhne mit den Menschentöchtern eingelassen und diese ihnen Kinder geboren hatten. Das sind die Helden der Vorzeit, die berühmten Männer.
5 And God seeing that the wickedness of men was great on the earth, and that all the thought of their heart was bent upon evil at all times,	5 Der Herr sah, dass auf der Erde die Schlechtigkeit des Menschen zunahm und dass alles Sinnen und Trachten seines Herzens immer nur böse war.
6 It repented him that he had made man on the earth. And being touched inwardly with sorrow of heart,	6 Da reute es den Herrn, auf der Erde den Menschen gemacht zu haben, und es tat seinem Herzen weh.
7 He said: I will destroy man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth, from man even to beasts, from the creeping thing even to the fowls of the air, for it repenteth me that I have made them.	7 Der Herr sagte: Ich will den Menschen, den ich erschaffen habe, vom Erdboden vertilgen, mit ihm auch das Vieh, die Kriechtiere und die Vögel des Himmels, denn es reut mich, sie gemacht zu haben.
8 But Noe found grace before the Lord.	8 Nur Noach fand Gnade in den Augen des Herrn.
9 These are the generations of Noe: Noe was a just and perfect man in his generations, he walked with God.	9 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Noach: Noach war ein gerechter, untadeliger Mann unter seinen Zeitgenossen; er ging seinen Weg mit Gott.
10 And he begot three sons, Sem, Cham, and Japheth.	10 Noach zeugte drei Söhne, Sem, Ham und Jafet.
11 And the earth was corrupted before God, and was filled with iniquity.	11 Die Erde aber war in Gottes Augen verdorben, sie war voller Gewalttat.
12 And when God had seen that the earth was corrupted (for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth,)	12 Gott sah sich die Erde an: Sie war verdorben, denn alle Wesen aus Fleisch auf der Erde lebten verdorben.
13 He said to Noe: The end of all flesh is come before me, the earth is filled with iniquity through them, and I will destroy them with the earth.	13 Da sprach Gott zu Noach: Ich sehe, das Ende aller Wesen aus Fleisch ist da; denn durch sie ist die Erde voller Gewalttat. Nun will ich sie zugleich mit der Erde verderben.
14 Make thee an ark of timber planks: thou shalt make little rooms in the ark, and thou shalt pitch it within and without.	14 Mach dir eine Arche aus Zypressenholz! Statte sie mit Kammern aus, und dichte sie innen und außen mit Pech ab!
15 And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits: the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.	15 So sollst du die Arche bauen: Dreihundert Ellen lang, fünfzig Ellen breit und dreißig Ellen hoch soll sie sein.
16 Thou shalt make a window in the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish the top of it: and the door of the ark thou shalt set in the side: with lower, middle chambers, and third stories shalt thou make it.	16 Mach der Arche ein Dach und hebe es genau um eine Elle nach oben an! Den Eingang der Arche bring an der Seite an! Richte ein unteres, ein zweites und ein drittes Stockwerk ein!
17 Behold I will bring the waters of a great flood upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, under heaven. All things that are in the earth shall be consumed.	17 Ich will nämlich die Flut über die Erde bringen, um alle Wesen aus Fleisch unter dem Himmel, alles, was Lebensgeist in sich hat, zu verderben. Alles auf Erden soll verenden.
18 And I will establish my covenant with thee, and thou shalt enter into the ark, thou and thy sons, and thy wife, and the wives of thy sons with thee.	18 Mit dir aber schließe ich meinen Bund. Geh in die Arche, du, deine Söhne, deine Frau und die Frauen deiner Söhne!
19 And of every living creature of all flesh, thou shalt bring two of each sort into the ark, that they may live with thee: of the male sex, and the female.	19 Von allem, was lebt, von allen Wesen aus Fleisch, führe je zwei in die Arche, damit sie mit dir am Leben bleiben; je ein Männchen und ein Weibchen sollen es sein.
20 Of fowls according to their kind, and of beasts in their kind, and of every thing that creepeth on earth according to its kind; two of every sort shall go in with thee, that they may live.	20 Von allen Arten der Vögel, von allen Arten des Viehs, von allen Arten der Kriechtiere auf dem Erdboden sollen je zwei zu dir kommen, damit sie am Leben bleiben.
21 Thou shalt take unto thee of all food that may be eaten, and thou shalt lay it up with thee: and it shall be food for thee and them.	21 Nimm dir von allem Essbaren mit und leg dir einen Vorrat an! Dir und ihnen soll es zur Nahrung dienen.
22 And Noe did all things which God commanded him.	22 Noach tat alles genau so, wie ihm Gott aufgetragen hatte.
