Prima lettera ai Corinzi 1

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 PAOLO, chiamato ad essere apostolo di Gesù Cristo, per la volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene;	1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,
2 alla chiesa di Dio, la quale è in Corinto, a’ santificati in Gesù Cristo, chiamati santi; insieme con tutti coloro, i quali in qualunque luogo invocano il nome di Gesù Cristo, Signor di loro, e di noi;	2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.
3 grazia, e pace a voi, da Dio, nostro Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo.	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Io del continuo rendo grazie di voi all’Iddio mio, per la grazia di Dio che vi è stata data in Cristo Gesù.	4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;
5 Perciocchè in lui siete stati arricchiti in ogni cosa, in ogni dono di parola, e in ogni conoscenza;	5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;
6 secondo che la testimonianza di Cristo è stata confermata fra voi.	6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.
7 Talchè non vi manca dono alcuno, aspettando la manifestazione del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo;	7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;
8 il quale eziandio vi confermerà infino al fine, acciocchè siate senza colpa nel giorno del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo.	8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Fedele è Iddio, dal quale siete stati chiamati alla comunione del suo Figliuolo Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore	9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 ORA, fratelli, io vi esorto, per lo nome del nostro Signor Gesù Cristo, che abbiate tutti un medesimo parlare, e che non vi sieno fra voi scismi; anzi che siate uniti insieme in una medesima mente, e in un medesimo sentire.	10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.
11 Perciocchè, fratelli miei, mi è stato di voi significato da que’ di casa Cloe, che vi son fra voi delle contenzioni.	11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.
12 Or questo voglio dire, che ciascun di voi dice: Io son di Paolo, ed io di Apollo, ed io di Cefa ed io di Cristo.	12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'
13 Cristo è egli diviso? Paolo è egli stato crocifisso per voi? ovvero siete voi stati battezzati nel nome di Paolo?	13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?
14 Io ringrazio Iddio, che io non ho battezzato alcun di voi, fuori che Crispo e Gaio;	14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 acciocchè alcuno non dica ch’io abbia battezzato nel mio nome.	15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.
16 Ho battezzata ancora la famiglia di Stefana; nel rimanente, non so se ho battezzato alcun altro	16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.
17 PERCIOCCHÈ Cristo non mi ha mandato per battezzare, ma per evangelizzare; non in sapienza di parlare, acciocchè la croce di Cristo non sia resa vana.	17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
18 Perciocchè la parola della croce è ben pazzia a coloro che periscono; ma a noi, che siam salvati, è la potenza di Dio.	18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.
19 Poichè egli è scritto: Io farò perir la sapienza dei savi, ed annullerò l’intendimento degl’intendenti.	19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.
20 Dov’è alcun savio? dov’è alcuno scriba? dov’è alcun ricercatore di questo secolo? non ha Iddio resa pazza la sapienza di questo mondo?	20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?
21 Perciocchè, poichè nella sapienza di Dio, il mondo non ha conosciuto Iddio per la sapienza, è piaciuto a Dio di salvare i credenti per la pazzia della predicazione.	21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.
22 Poichè e i Giudei chieggono segno, e i Greci cercano sapienza.	22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
23 Ma noi predichiamo Cristo crocifisso, che è scandalo a’ Giudei, e pazzia a’ Greci.	23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,
24 Ma a coloro che son chiamati, Giudei e Greci, noi predichiam Cristo, potenza di Dio, e sapienza di Dio.	24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.
25 Poichè la pazzia di Dio è più savia che gli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio più forte che gli uomini.	25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26 Perciocchè, fratelli, vedete la vostra vocazione; che non siete molti savi secondo la carne, non molti potenti, non molti nobili.	26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.
27 Anzi Iddio ha scelte le cose pazze del mondo, per isvergognare le savie. E Iddio ha scelte le cose deboli del mondo, per isvergognare le forti.	27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,
28 E Iddio ha scelte le cose ignobili del mondo, e le cose spregevoli, e le cose che non sono, per ridurre al niente quelle che sono.	28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,
29 Acciocchè niuna carne si glorii nel cospetto di Dio.	29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.
30 Or da lui voi siete in Cristo Gesù, il quale ci è stato fatto da Dio sapienza, e giustizia, e santificazione, e redenzione;	30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.
31 acciocchè, siccome è scritto: Chi si gloria, si glorii nel Signore	31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
