Amos 6

DIODATI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 GUAI a quelli che sono agiati in Sion, e che se ne stanno sicuri nel monte di Samaria, luoghi famosi per capi di nazioni, a’ quali va la casa d’Israele!	1 Woe to the complacent in Zion, to the overconfident on the mount of Samaria, Leaders of a nation favored from the first, to whom the people of Israel have recourse!
2 Passate in Calne, e vedete; e di là andate in Hamat la grande; poi scendete in Gat de’ Filistei; non valevano que’ regni meglio di questi? non erano i lor confini maggiori de’ vostri?	2 Pass over to Calneh and see, go from there to Hamath the great, and down to Gath of the Philistines! Are you better than these kingdoms, or is your territory wider than theirs?
3 Voi, che allontanate il giorno malvagio, e fate accostare il seggio della violenza;	3 You would put off the evil day, yet you hasten the reign of violence!
4 che giacete sopra letti di avorio, e lussuriate sopra le vostre lettiere; e mangiate gli agnelli della greggia, e i vitelli tolti di mezzo della stia;	4 Lying upon beds of ivory, stretched comfortably on their couches, They eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall!
5 che fate concento al suon del salterio; che vi divisate degli strumenti musicali, come Davide;	5 Improvising to the music of the harp, like David, they devise their own accompaniment.
6 che bevete il vino in bacini, e vi ungete de’ più eccellenti olii odoriferi; e non sentite alcuna doglia della rottura di Giuseppe.	6 They drink wine from bowls and anoint themselves with the best oils; yet they are not made ill by the collapse of Joseph!
7 Perciò, ora andranno in cattività, in capo di quelli che andranno in cattività; e i conviti de’ lussurianti cesseranno	7 Therefore, now they shall be the first to go into exile, and their wanton revelry shall be done away with.
8 Il Signore Iddio ha giurato per l’anima sua, dice il Signore Iddio degli eserciti: Io abbomino l’alterezza di Giacobbe, e odio i suoi palazzi, e darò in man del nemico la città, e tutto ciò che vi è dentro.	8 The Lord GOD has sworn by his very self, say I, the LORD, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, I hate his castles, and I give over the city with everything in it;
9 Ed avverrà che se pur dieci uomini rimangono in una casa, morranno.	9 Should there remain ten men in a single house, these shall die.
10 E lo zio, o il cugin loro li torrà, e li brucerà, per trarre le ossa fuor della casa; e dirà a colui che sarà in fondo della casa: Evvi ancora alcuno teco? Ed esso dirà: Niuno. E colui gli dirà: Taci; perciocchè egli non è tempo di ricordare il Nome del Signore.	10 Only a few shall be left to carry the dead out of the houses; If one says to a man inside a house, "Is anyone with you?" and he answers, "No one," Then he shall say, "Silence!" for no one must mention the name of the LORD.
11 Perciocchè, ecco, il Signore dà commissione di percuotere le case grandi di ruine, e le case piccole di rotture.	11 Indeed, the LORD has given the command to shatter the great house to bits, and reduce the small house to rubble.
12 I cavalli romperanno essi le zolle su per le rocce? o vi si arerà co’ buoi? conciossiachè voi abbiate cangiato il giudicio in veleno, e il frutto della giustizia in assenzio;	12 Can horses run across a cliff? or can one plow the sea with oxen? Yet you have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of justice into wormwood.
13 voi, che vi rallegrate di cose da nulla; che dite: Non abbiamo noi acquistate delle corna con la nostra forza?	13 You rejoice in Lodebar, and say, "Have we not, by our own strength, seized for ourselves Karnaim?"
14 Perciocchè, ecco, io fo sorgere contro a voi, o casa d’Israele, una nazione, che vi oppresserà dall’entrata di Hamat, fino al torrente del deserto, dice il Signore Iddio degli eserciti	14 Beware, I am raising up against you, O house of Israel, say I, the LORD, the God of hosts, A nation that shall oppress you from Labo of Hamath even to the Wadi Arabah.
