Amos 4

1 Ascoltate questa parola, vacche di Basan, che siete nella montagna di Samaria, che oppressate i miseri, che fiaccate i poveri, che dite a’ vostri signori: Recate, acciocchè beviamo.	1 Listen to this word, you fat cows that are on the mountain of Samaria, you who make false accusations against the destitute and crush the poor, who say to your nobles, “Bring, and we will drink.”
2 Il Signore Iddio ha giurato per la sua santità, che ecco, i giorni vi vengono addosso, ch’egli vi trarrà fuori con uncini, e il vostro rimanente con ami da pescare.	2 The Lord God has sworn in his holiness: behold, the days that will overcome you and that will impale you on poles, and that will place what remains of you in boiling pots.
3 E voi uscirete per le rotture, ciascuna dirincontro a sè; e lascerete in abbandono i palazzi, dice il Signore.	3 And you will go out through the breaches, one over another, and you will be cast out into Harmon, says the Lord.
4 Venite pure in Betel, e commettete misfatto, moltiplicate i vostri misfatti in Ghilgal, e adducete ogni mattina i vostri sacrificii, e le vostre decime a’ tre giorni.	4 Come to Bethel and behave impiously, to Gilgal and increase betrayals. And bring daybreak to your victims, your tithes in three days.
5 E fate ardere per profumo del pane levitato, per offerta di lode; e bandite a grida le offerte volontarie; poichè così amate di fare, o figliuoli d’Israele, dice il Signore Iddio	5 And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven. And call for voluntary oblations, and announce it. For such is your will, sons of Israel, says the Lord God.
6 E benchè io vi abbia data nettezza di denti in tutte le vostre città, e mancamento di pane in tutti i luoghi vostri; non però vi siete convertiti a me, dice il Signore.	6 Therefore, because of this, I have given you dull teeth in every one of your cities, and a lack of bread in all your places. And you have not been turned back towards me, says the Lord.
7 E benchè io vi abbia divietata la pioggia, tre mesi intieri avanti la mietitura, ed abbia fatto piovere sopra una città, e non sopra l’altra; e un campo sia stato adacquato di pioggia, ed un altro, sopra il quale non è piovuto, sia seccato;	7 Therefore, I have withheld the rains from you, when there were still three months left until the harvest. And I rained on one city, and I did not rain on another city; one part was rained on, and the part on which I did not rain, dried out.
8 e due, e tre città si sieno mosse verso una città, per bere dell’acqua, e non si sieno saziate; non però vi siete convertiti a me, dice il Signore.	8 And two and three cities went to one city, in order to drink water, and they were not satisfied. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.
9 Io vi ho percossi di arsura, e di rubigine; le ruche hanno mangiata la moltitudine de’ vostri giardini, e delle vostre vigne, e de’ vostri fichi, e de’ vostri ulivi; e pur voi non vi siete convertiti a me, dice il Signore.	9 I struck you with a burning wind and with yellowing; the caterpillar has consumed your many gardens and your vineyards, your olive groves and your fig groves. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.
10 Io ho mandata fra voi la pestilenza, nella via di Egitto; io ho uccisi con la spada i vostri giovani, oltre alla presa de’ vostri cavalli; ed ho fatto salire il puzzo de’ vostri eserciti, fino alle vostre nari; e pur voi non vi siete convertiti a me, dice il Signore.	10 I sent death to you by way of Egypt; I struck your youths with the sword, even bringing captivity to your horses. And I made the stench of your camp ascend into your nostrils. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.
11 Io vi ho sovvertiti, come Iddio sovvertì Sodoma e Gomorra; e siete stati come un tizzone salvato da un incendio; e pur voi non vi siete convertiti a me, dice il Signore.	11 I overturned you, just as God overturned Sodom and Gomorrah, and you became like an ember seized from the fire. And you did not return to me, says the Lord.
12 Perciò, io ti farò così, o Israele; e perciocchè io ti farò questo, preparati allo scontro dell’Iddio tuo, o Israele.	12 Because of this, I will do these things to you, Israel. But after I have done these things to you, Israel, be prepared to meet your God.
13 Perciocchè, ecco colui che ha formati i monti, e che crea il vento, e che dichiara all’uomo qual sia il suo pensiero; che fa dell’alba oscurità, e che cammina sopra gli alti luoghi della terra; il cui Nome è: Il Signore Iddio degli eserciti	13 For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind and announces his speech to man, who makes the morning mist and steps over the heights of the earth: the Lord God of hosts is his name.
