Geremia 22

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 COSÌ ha detto il Signore: Scendi nella casa del re di Giuda, e pronunzia quivi questa parola, e di’:	1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,
2 Ascolta la parola del Signore o re di Giuda, che siedi sopra il trono di Davide; tu, e i tuoi servitori, e il tuo popolo ch’entrate per queste porte.	2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.
3 Così ha detto il Signore: Fate giudicio e giustizia; e riscotete di man dell’oppressore colui a cui è tolto il suo: e non fate torto al forestiere, nè all’orfano, nè alla vedova; non fate violenza, e non ispandete sangue innocente in questo luogo.	3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.
4 Perciocchè, se pur mettete ad affetto questa parola, i re del legnaggio di Davide, che seggono sopra il suo trono, entreranno per le porte di questa Casa, montati sopra carri, e sopra cavalli, essi, ed i lor servitori, ed il lor popolo.	4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.
5 Ma se voi non ascoltate queste parole, io giuro per me stesso, dice il Signore, che questa Casa sarà messa in desolazione.	5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!
6 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore intorno alla casa del re di Giuda: Tu mi sei stata come Galaad, come la sommità del Libano; se io non ti riduco in deserto, in città disabitate.	6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.
7 Io ordinerò contro a te de’ guastatori, che avranno ciascuno le sue armi; e taglieranno la scelta de’ tuoi cedri, e li gitteranno nel fuoco.	7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.
8 E molte genti passeranno presso di questa città, e diranno l’uno all’altro: Perchè ha il Signore fatto così a cotesta gran città?	8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?
9 E si dirà: Perciocchè hanno lasciato il patto del Signore Iddio loro, ed hanno adorati altri dii, ed hanno lor servito	9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '
10 Non piangete per lo morto, e non ve ne condolete; piangete pur per quel che se ne va via; perciocchè egli non ritornerà più, e non vedrà più il suo natio paese.	10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.
11 Perciocchè il Signore ha detto così di Sallum, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, che ha regnato in luogo di Giosia, suo padre, ed è uscito di questo luogo: Egli non vi ritornerà più;	11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it
12 anzi morrà nel luogo dove è stato menato in cattività, e non vedrà più questo paese.	12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.
13 Guai a colui ch’edifica la sua casa, e non con giustizia; e le sue sale, e non con dirittura; che si serve del suo prossimo per nulla, e non gli dà il pagamento dell’opera sua; che dice:	13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,
14 Io mi edificherò una casa grande, e delle sale spaziose; e taglia a quelle delle finestre larghe, e la fa tavolata di cedri, e la dipinge di minio!	14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.
15 Regnerai tu perchè cerchi d’eccellere co’ cedri? non mangiò, e non bevve tuo padre, facendo ciò ch’è diritto, e giusto? ed allora bene gli avvenne.	15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.
16 Egli fece ragione al povero ed al bisognoso: ed allora bene gli avvenne; non è ciò conoscermi? dice il Signore.	16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.
17 Ma tu non hai gli occhi, nè il cuore, se non alla tua avarizia, ed a spandere il sangue innocente, e ad oppressione, ed a storsione, per farla.	17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'
18 Perciò, il Signore ha detto così di Gioiachim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda: Ei non se ne farà cordoglio, dicendo: Ahi fratel mio! Ahi sorella! Ei non se ne farà altresì cordoglio, dicendo: Ahi Signore! e: Ahi sua maestà!	18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"
19 Egli sarà seppellito della sepoltura di un asino, essendo strascinato, e gettato via lungi dalle porte di Gerusalemme	19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'
20 Sali pure in sul Libano, e grida; e da’ fuori la tua voce in Basan, e grida a quelli che sono di là; perciocchè tutti i tuoi amanti sono stati rotti.	20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!
21 Io ti ho parlato nelle tue prosperità; ma tu hai detto: Io non ascolterò; questa è stata la tua usanza fin dalla tua fanciullezza, che tu non hai giammai ascoltata la mia voce.	21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.
22 Il vento si pascerà di tutti i tuoi pastori, ed i tuoi amanti andranno in cattività; allora sarai pure svergognata e confusa, per tutta la tua malvagità.	22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.
23 Tu dimori nel Libano, tu ti annidi sopra i cedri; oh! quanto sarai graziosa, quando ti verranno le doglie del parto; i dolori, come di donna che partorisce!	23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!
24 Come io vivo, dice il Signore, avvegnachè tu, Conia, figliuolo di Gioiachim, re di Giuda, fossi un suggello nella mia man destra, pur te ne divellerò;	24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!
25 e ti darò in man di quelli che cercano l’anima tua, e in man di quelli de’ quali tu hai spavento, e in man di Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, e in man de’ Caldei.	25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.
26 E caccerò te, e tua madre che ti ha partorito, in un paese strano, dove non siete nati; e quivi morrete.	26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.
27 E quant’è al paese, al quale essi hanno l’animo intento, per tornarvi, non vi torneranno.	27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'
28 È quest’uomo Conia un idolo sprezzato, e rotto in pezzi? è egli un vaso, del quale non si fa stima alcuna? perchè dunque sono stati cacciati egli, e la sua progenie, e gettati in un paese, che non conoscono?	28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?
29 O paese, o paese, o paese, ascolta la parola del Signore!	29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!
30 Così ha detto il Signore: Scrivete pure che quest’uomo sarà privo di figliuoli, e sarà uomo che non prospererà a’ suoi dì; e che niuno della sua progenie prospererà, sedendo sopra il trono di Davide, e signoreggiando per l’innanzi sopra Giuda	30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'
