DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ORA, dopo queste cose, Davide percosse i Filistei, e li abbassò; e prese a’ Filistei Gat, e le terre del suo territorio.	1 After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them. From the grip of the Philistines he wrestedGath and its dependencies.
2 Egli percosse ancora i Moabiti; onde i Moabiti furono soggetti di Davide, pagando tributo.	2 He also defeated the Moabites; the Moabites became David's subjects and paid him tribute.
3 Davide, oltre a ciò, percosse Hadarezer, re di Soba, verso Hamat, mentre egli andava per istabilire il suo dominio sul fiume Eufrate.	3 David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, which lies in the direction of Hamath, when the lattermounted an expedition to assert his rule on the River Euphrates.
4 E Davide gli prese mille carri, e settemila cavalieri, e ventimila pedoni, e tagliò i garetti a’ cavalli di tutti i carri, salvo di cento ch’egli riserbò.	4 David captured one thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers and twenty thousand foot soldiersfrom him; David hamstrung al the chariot teams, keeping only a hundred of them.
5 Or i Siri di Damasco erano venuti al soccorso di Hadarezer, re di Soba; e Davide percosse di que’ Siri ventiduemila uomini.	5 The Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer king of Zobah, but David kil ed twenty-two thousand of the Aramaeans.
6 Poi Davide pose guernigioni nella Siria Damascena; ed i Siri divennero soggetti di Davide, pagando tributo. E il Signore salvava Davide dovunque egli andava.	6 David then imposed governors in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans became David's subjectsand paid him tribute. Wherever David went, Yahweh gave him victory.
7 E Davide prese gli scudi d’oro, che i servitori di Hadarezer portavano; e li portò in Gerusalemme.	7 David took the golden shields carried by Hadadezer's guards and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Davide prese ancora una grandissima quantità di rame da Tibhat, e da Cun, città di Hadarezer; onde Salomone fece il mar di rame, e le colonne, e i vasellamenti di rame	8 From Tibhath and from Cun, towns belonging to Hadadezer, David captured a great quantity ofbronze, with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pil ars and the bronze implements.
9 Or Tou, re di Hamat, avendo inteso che Davide avea sconfitto tutto l’esercito di Hadarezer, re di Soba,	9 When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 mandò il suo figliuolo Hadoram al re Davide, per salutarlo, e per benedirlo di ciò che egli avea combattuto contro ad Hadarezer, e l’avea sconfitto; perciocchè Hadarezer avea fatta guerra aperta a Tou. Gli mandò ancora ogni sorte di vasellamenti d’oro, e d’argento, e di rame.	10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him on having made war onHadadezer and on having defeated him, since Hadadezer was at war with Tou. 11 Il re Davide consacrò ancora al Signore que’ vasellamenti, insieme con l’argento, e con l’oro, ch’egli avea portato da tutte le genti, da Edom, e da’ Moabiti, e dai figliuoli di Ammon, e da’ Filistei, e da Amalec.	11 which King David also consecrated to Yahweh, as wel as the silver and gold which he had leviedfrom al the nations, from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and Amalek.
12 Oltre a ciò, Abisai, figliuolo di Seruia, sconfisse gl’Idumei nella valle del sale, in numero di diciottomila.	12 Abishai son of Zeruiah defeated the Edomites in the Val ey of Salt -- eighteen thousand of them.
13 E mise guernigioni in Idumea; e tutti gl’Idumei divennero soggetti di Davide. E il Signore salvava Davide dovunque egli andava.	13 He stationed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's subjects. Wherever Davidwent, Yahweh gave him victory.
14 Così Davide regnò sopra tutto Israele, facendo ragione e giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.	14 David ruled over all Israel, administering law and justice to al his people.
15 E Ioab, figliuolo di Seruia, era Capo dell’esercito; e Giosafat, figliuolo di Ahilud, era Cancelliere;	15 Joab son of Zeruiah was in command of the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was herald;
16 e Sadoc, figliuolo di Ahitub, ed Abimelec, figliuolo di Ebiatar, erano Sacerdoti; e Sausa era Segretario;	16 Zadok son of Ahitub and Abiathar son of Ahimelech were priests; Shusha was secretary;
17 e Benaia, figliuolo di Gioiada, era sopra i Cheretei, ed i Peletei; ed i figliuoli di Davide erano i primi appresso del re	17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites; David's sons took firstplace after the king.
