1 La sapienza si è costruita la sua casa, ha intagliato le sue sette colonne.	1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 Ha ucciso il suo bestiame, ha preparato il suo vino e ha imbandito la sua tavola.	2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 Ha mandato le sue ancelle a proclamare sui punti più alti della città:	3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 «Chi è inesperto venga qui!». A chi è privo di senno ella dice:	4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 «Venite, mangiate il mio pane, bevete il vino che io ho preparato.	5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Abbandonate l’inesperienza e vivrete, andate diritti per la via dell’intelligenza».	6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 Chi corregge lo spavaldo ne riceve disprezzo e chi riprende il malvagio ne riceve oltraggio.	7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Non rimproverare lo spavaldo per non farti odiare; rimprovera il saggio ed egli ti sarà grato.	8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Da’ consigli al saggio e diventerà ancora più saggio; istruisci il giusto ed egli aumenterà il sapere.	9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 Principio della sapienza è il timore del Signore, e conoscere il Santo è intelligenza.	10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 Per mezzo mio si moltiplicheranno i tuoi giorni, ti saranno aumentati gli anni di vita.	11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 Se sei sapiente, lo sei a tuo vantaggio, se sei spavaldo, tu solo ne porterai la pena.	12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 Donna follia è irrequieta, sciocca e ignorante.	13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 Sta seduta alla porta di casa, su un trono, in un luogo alto della città,	14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 per invitare i passanti che vanno diritti per la loro strada:	15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16 «Chi è inesperto venga qui!». E a chi è privo di senno ella dice:	16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17 «Le acque furtive sono dolci, il pane preso di nascosto è gustoso».	17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 Egli non si accorge che là ci sono le ombre e i suoi invitati scendono nel profondo del regno dei morti.	18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
