Apocalipsis de Juan 13

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Entonces vi que emergía del mar una Bestia con siete cabezas y diez cuernos. En cada cuerno tenía una diadema, y sobre sus cabezas había leyendas con nombres blasfemos.	1 Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each ofits ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.
2 Parecía una pantera, pero tenía las patas como las de un oso y la boca como la de un león. El Dragón le cedió su poder y su trono con un inmenso imperio.	2 I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon hadhanded over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.
3 Una de sus cabezas parecía herida de muerte, pero su llaga mortal ya estaba cicatrizada. Toda la tierra, maravillada, siguió a la Bestia,	3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healedand the whole world had marvel ed and fol owed the beast.
4 y todos adoraron al Dragón porque él le había cedido el poder, y también adoraron a la Bestia, diciendo: «¿Quién se le puede igualar y quién puede luchar contra ella?».	4 They prostrated themselves in front of the dragon because he had given the beast his authority; andthey prostrated themselves in front of the beast, saying, 'Who can compare with the beast? Who can fightagainst it?'
5 Y se permitió a la Bestia proferir palabras altaneras y blasfemias; y se le dio poder para actuar durante cuarenta y dos meses.	5 The beast was allowed to mouth its boasts and blasphemies and to be active for forty-two months;
6 Ella abrió la boca para maldecir a Dios y blasfemar contra su Nombre y su Santuario, y contra los habitantes del cielo.	6 and it mouthed its blasphemies against God, against his name, his heavenly Tent and al those whoare sheltered there.
7 También le fue permitido combatir contra los santos hasta vencerlos, y se le dio poder sobre toda familia, pueblo, lengua y nación.	7 It was allowed to make war against the saints and conquer them, and given power over every race,people, language and nation;
8 Y la adoraron todos los habitantes de la tierra cuyos nombres no figuran, desde la creación del mundo, en el Libro de la Vida del Cordero que ha sido inmolado.	8 and al people of the world wil worship it, that is, everybody whose name has not been written downsince the foundation of the world in the sacrificial Lamb's book of life.
9 ¡El que pueda entender, que entienda!	9 Let anyone who can hear, listen:
10 El que tenga que ir a la cárcel, irá a la cárcel; y el que tenga que morir por la espada, morirá por la espada. En esto se pondrá a prueba la perseverancia y la fe de los santos.	10 Those for captivity to captivity; those for death by the sword to death by the sword. This is why thesaints must have perseverance and faith.
11 En seguida vi surgir de la tierra otra Bestia que tenía dos cuernos como los de un cordero, pero hablaba como un dragón.	11 Then I saw a second beast, emerging from the ground; it had two horns like a lamb, but made anoise like a dragon.
12 Esta Bestia ejercía todo el poder de la primera y estaba a su servicio; y logró que la tierra y sus habitantes adoraran a la primera Bestia, a aquella cuya llaga mortal se había cicatrizado.	12 This second beast exercised al the power of the first beast, on its behalf making the world and al itspeople worship the first beast, whose deadly injury had healed.
13 También realizaba grandes prodigios, llegando a hacer descender fuego del cielo sobre la tierra a la vista de todos.	13 And it worked great miracles, even to calling down fire from heaven onto the earth while peoplewatched.
14 Y por los prodigios que realizaba al servicio de la primera Bestia, sedujo a los habitantes de la tierra para que fabricaran una imagen en honor de aquella que fue herida por la espada y sobrevivió.	14 Through the miracles which it was al owed to do on behalf of the first beast, it was able to lead astraythe people of the world and persuade them to put up a statue in honour of the beast that had been wounded bythe sword and stil lived.
15 También se le permitió dar vida a la imagen de la Bestia, para hacerla hablar y dar muerte a todos aquellos que no adoran su imagen.	15 It was al owed to breathe life into this statue, so that the statue of the beast was able to speak, and tohave anyone who refused to worship the statue of the beast put to death.
16 Así consiguió que todos –pequeños y grandes, ricos y pobres, libres y esclavos– se dejaran poner una marca en su mano derecha o sobre su frente,	16 It compel ed everyone -- smal and great alike, rich and poor, slave and citizen -- to be branded onthe right hand or on the forehead,
17 de manera que nadie podía comprar o vender, si no llevaba marcado el nombre de la Bestia o la cifra que corresponde a su nombre.	17 and made it il egal for anyone to buy or sell anything unless he had been branded with the name ofthe beast or with the number of its name.
18 Para esto se precisa sutileza. El que tenga inteligencia calcule la cifra de la Bestia, porque es una cifra humana: 666.	18 There is need for shrewdness here: anyone clever may interpret the number of the beast: it is thenumber of a human being, the number 666.
