EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Exhorto a los presbíteros que están entre ustedes, siendo yo presbítero como ellos y testigo de los sufrimientos de Cristo y copartícipe de la gloria que va a ser revelada.	1 The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come:
2 Apacienten el Rebaño de Dios, que les ha sido confiado; velen por él, no forzada, sino espontáneamente, como lo quiere Dios; no por un interés mezquino, sino con abnegación;	2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily:
3 no pretendiendo dominar a los que les han sido encomendados, sino siendo de corazón ejemplo para el Rebaño.	3 Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart.
4 Y cuando llegue el Jefe de los pastores, recibirán la corona imperecedera de gloria.	4 And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory.
5 De la misma manera, ustedes, los jóvenes, sométanse a los presbíteros. Que cada uno se revista de sentimientos de humildad para con los demás, porque Dios se opone a los orgullosos y da su ayuda a los humildes.	5 In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace.
6 Humíllense bajo la mano poderosa de Dios, para que él los eleve en el momento oportuno.	6 Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation:
7 Descarguen en él todas sus inquietudes, ya que él se ocupa de ustedes.	7 Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.
8 Sean sobrios y estén siempre alerta, porque su enemigo, el demonio, ronda como un león rugiente, buscando a quién devorar.	8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.
9 Resístanlo firmes en la fe, sabiendo que sus hermanos dispersos por el mundo padecen los mismos sufrimientos que ustedes.	9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world.
10 El Dios de toda gracia, que nos ha llamado a su gloria eterna en Cristo, después que hayan padecido un poco, los restablecerá y confirmará, los hará fuertes e inconmovibles.	10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you.
11 ¡A él sea la gloria y el poder eternamente! Amén.	11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Les escribo estas palabras por medio de Silvano, a quien considero un hermano fiel, para exhortarlos y atestiguar que esta es la verdadera gracia de Dios: permanezcan adheridos a ella.	12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand.
13 La iglesia de Babilonia, que ha sido elegida como ustedes, los saluda, lo mismo que mi hijo Marcos.	13 The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark.
14 Salúdense los unos a los otros con un beso de amor fraternal. Que descienda la paz sobre todos ustedes, los que están unidos a Cristo.	14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
