Lucas 13

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En ese momento se presentaron unas personas que comentaron a Jesús el caso de aquellos galileos, cuya sangre Pilato mezcló con la de las víctimas de sus sacrificios.	1 It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose bloodPilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them,
2 El respondió: «¿Creen ustedes que esos galileos sufrieron todo esto porque eran más pecadores que los demás?	2 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should havehappened to them?
3 Les aseguro que no, y si ustedes no se convierten, todos acabarán de la misma manera.	3 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.
4 ¿O creen que las dieciocho personas que murieron cuando se desplomó la torre de Siloé, eran más culpables que los demás habitantes de Jerusalén?	4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fel , kil ing them al ? Do you suppose that they weremore guilty than al the other people living in Jerusalem?
5 Les aseguro que no, y si ustedes no se convierten, todos acabarán de la misma manera».	5 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.'
6 Les dijo también esta parábola: «Un hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viña. Fue a buscar frutos y nos encontró.	6 He told this parable, 'A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on itbut found none.
7 Dijo entonces al viñador: "Hace tres años que vengo a buscar frutos en esta higuera y nos encuentro. Córtala, ¿para qué malgastar la tierra?".	7 He said to his vinedresser, "For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree andfinding none. Cut it down: why should it be taking up the ground?"
8 Pero él respondió: "Señor, déjala todavía este año; yo removeré la tierra alrededor de ella y la abonaré.	8 "Sir," the man replied, "leave it one more year and give me time to dig round it and manure it:
9 Puede ser que así dé frutos en adelante. Si no, la cortarás"».	9 it may bear fruit next year; if not, then you can cut it down." '
10 Un sábado, Jesús enseñaba en una sinagoga.	10 One Sabbath day he was teaching in one of the synagogues,
11 Había allí una mujer poseída de un espíritu, que la tenía enferma desde hacía dieciocho años. Estaba completamente encorvada y no podía enderezarse de ninguna manera.	11 and there before him was a woman who for eighteen years had been possessed by a spirit thatcrippled her; she was bent double and quite unable to stand upright.
12 Jesús, al verla, la llamó y le dijo: «Mujer, estás curada de tu enfermedad»,	12 When Jesus saw her he cal ed her over and said, 'Woman, you are freed from your disability,'
13 y le impuso las manos. Ella se enderezó en seguida y glorificaba a Dios.	13 and he laid his hands on her. And at once she straightened up, and she glorified God.
14 Pero el jefe de la sinagoga, indignado porque Jesús había curado en sábado, dijo a la multitud: «Los días de trabajo son seis; vengan durante esos días para hacerse curar, y no el sábado».	14 But the president of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and headdressed all those present saying, 'There are six days when work is to be done. Come and be healed on one ofthose days and not on the Sabbath.'
15 El Señor le respondió: «¡Hipócritas! Cualquiera de ustedes, aunque sea sábado, ¿no desata del pesebre a su buey o a su asno para llevarlo a beber?	15 But the Lord answered him and said, 'Hypocrites! Is there one of you who does not untie his ox or hisdonkey from the manger on the Sabbath and take it out for watering?
16 Y esta hija de Abraham, a la que Satanás tuvo aprisionada durante dieciocho años, ¿no podía ser librada de sus cadenas el día sábado?».	16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has held bound these eighteen years -- was itnot right to untie this bond on the Sabbath day?'
17 Al oír estas palabras, todos sus adversario se llenaron de confusión, pero la multitud se alegraba de las maravillas que él hacía.	17 When he said this, all his adversaries were covered with confusion, and al the people were overjoyedat al the wonders he worked.
18 Jesús dijo entonces: «¿A qué se parece el Reino de Dios? ¿Con qué podré compararlo?	18 He went on to say, 'What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it with?
19 Se parece a un grano de mostaza que un hombre sembró en su huerta; creció, se convirtió en un arbusto y los pájaros del cielo se cobijaron en sus ramas».	19 It is like a mustard seed which a man took and threw into his garden: it grew and became a tree, andthe birds of the air sheltered in its branches.'
20 Dijo también: «¿Con qué podré comparar el Reino de Dios?	20 Again he said, 'What shall I compare the kingdom of God with?
21 Se parece a un poco de levadura que una mujer mezcló con gran cantidad de harina, hasta que fermentó toda la masa».	21 It is like the yeast a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour til it was leavened althrough.'
22 Jesús iba enseñando por las ciudades y pueblos, mientras se dirigía a Jerusalén.	22 Through towns and vil ages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem.
23 Una persona le preguntó: «Señor, ¿es verdad que son pocos los que se salvan?». El respondió:	23 Someone said to him, 'Sir, wil there be only a few saved?' He said to them,
24 «Traten de entrar por la puerta estrecha, porque les aseguro que muchos querrán entrar y no lo conseguirán.	24 'Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many wil try to enter and wil notsucceed.
25 En cuanto el dueño de casa se levante y cierre la puerta, ustedes, desde afuera, se pondrán a golpear la puerta, diciendo: "Señor, ábrenos". Y él les responderá: "No sé de dónde son ustedes".	25 'Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standingoutside knocking on the door, saying, "Lord, open to us," but he will answer, "I do not know where you comefrom."
26 Entonces comenzarán a decir: "Hemos comido y bebido contigo, y tú enseñaste en nuestras plazas".	26 Then you wil start saying, "We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets,"
27 Pero él les dirá: "No sé de dónde son ustedes; ¡apártense de mí todos los que hacen el mal!".	27 but he wil reply, "I do not know where you come from; away from me, al evil doers!"
28 Allí habrá llantos y rechinar de dientes, cuando vean a Abraham, a Isaac, a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el Reino de Dios, y ustedes sean arrojados afuera.	28 'Then there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob andal the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out.
29 Y vendrán muchos de Oriente y de Occidente, del Norte y del Sur, a ocupar su lugar en el banquete del Reino de Dios.	29 And people from east and west, from north and south, wil come and sit down at the feast in thekingdom of God.
30 Hay algunos que son los últimos y serán los primeros, y hay otros que son los primeros y serán los últimos».	30 'Look, there are those now last who will be first, and those now first who wil be last.'
31 En ese momento se acercaron algunos fariseos que le dijeron: «Aléjate de aquí, porque Herodes quiere matarte».	31 Just at this time some Pharisees came up. 'Go away,' they said. 'Leave this place, because Herodmeans to kill you.'
32 El les respondió: «Vayan a decir a ese zorro: hoy y mañana expulso a los demonios y realizo curaciones, y al tercer día habré terminado.	32 He replied, 'You may go and give that fox this message: Look! Today and tomorrow I drive out devilsand heal, and on the third day I attain my end.
33 Pero debo seguir mi camino hoy, mañana y pasado, porque no puede ser que un profeta muera fuera de Jerusalén.	33 But for today and tomorrow and the next day I must go on, since it would not be right for a prophet todie outside Jerusalem.
34 ¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas y apedreas a los que te son enviados! ¡Cuántas veces quise reunir a tus hijos, como la gallina reúne bajo sus alas a los pollitos, y tú no quisiste!	34 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kil the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How oftenhave I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!
35 Por eso, a ustedes la casa les quedará vacía. Les aseguro que ya no me verán más, hasta que llegue el día en que digan: ¡Bendito el viene en nombre del Señor!».	35 Look! Your house wil be left to you. Yes, I promise you, you shal not see me till the time comeswhen you are saying: Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord!'
