Isaías 9

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El pueblo que caminaba en las tinieblas ha visto una gran luz: sobre los que habitaban en el país de la oscuridad ha brillado una luz.	1 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; on the inhabitants of a country in shadowdark as death light has blazed forth.
2 Tú has multiplicado la alegría, has acrecentado el gozo; ellos se regocijan en tu presencia, como se goza en la cosecha, como cuando reina la alegría por el reparto del botín.	2 You have enlarged the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice atharvest time, as they exult when they are dividing the spoils.
3 Porque el yugo que pesaba sobre él, la barra sobre su espalda y el palo de su carcelero, todo eso lo has destrozado como en el día de Madián.	3 For the yoke that weighed on it, the bar across its shoulders, the rod of its oppressor, these you havebroken as on the day of Midian.

5 Porque un niño nos ha nacido, un hijo nos ha sido dado. 6 Su soberanía será grande, y habrá una paz sin fin para el trono de David y para su reino; él lo establecerá y lo sostendrá por el derecho y la justicia, desde ahora y para siempre. El celo del Señor de los ejércitos hará todo esto.	6 to extend his dominion in boundless peace, over the throne of David and over his kingdom to make itsecure and sustain it in fair judgement and integrity. From this time onwards and for ever, the jealous love ofYahweh Sabaoth wil do this.
7 El Señor ha enviado una palabra a Jacob. Ella caerá sobre Israel:	7 The Lord has launched a word at Jacob and it has fal en on Israel;
8 la conocerá el pueblo entero, Efraím y los habitantes de Samaría, esos que andan diciendo con arrogancia y presunción:	8 and the people will al soon know it, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in the pride of theirarrogant hearts,
9 «¡Cayeron los ladrillos, pero construiremos con piedras talladas; fueron cortados los sicómoros, pero los suplantaremos con cedros!».	9 'The bricks have fal en down but we shal rebuild with dressed stone; the sycamores have been fel edbut we shal replace them with cedars.'
10 El Señor suscitó contra él a sus adversarios e incitó a sus enemigos.	10 But, against them, Yahweh has raised their foe Razon, he has whipped up their enemies,

16 Por eso el Señor no perdona a sus jóvenes ni se compadece de sus huérfanos y de sus viudas, porque todo este pueblo es impío y malvado y toda boca profiere insensateces. A pesar de todo esto, no se aplacó su ira y su mano está aún extendida.	16 Hence the Lord wil no longer take delight in their young people, or pity on their orphans and widows,since al of them are godless and evil, and everything they say is madness. After al this, his anger is not spent.No, his hand is still raised!
17 Porque la maldad quema como el fuego, devora cardos y espinas, arde en las espesuras del bosque, y el humo se alza en torbellinos.	17 Yes, wickedness has been burning like a fire, devouring bramble and thorn-bush, setting the forestthickets ablaze -- up they go in bil owing smoke!
18 Por el furor del Señor de los ejércitos se incendia el país, y el pueblo es como pasto del fuego. Nadie se compadece de su hermano,	18 The country has been set on fire by the fury of Yahweh Sabaoth, and the people are like food for theflames. No one spares a thought for his brother.
19 cada uno devora la carne de su prójimo: corta a la derecha, y queda con hambre; devora a la izquierda, y no se sacia.	19 They have sliced to the right and are stil hungry, they have eaten to the left and are not satisfied; eachdevours the flesh of his own arm.
20 Manasés devora a Efraím, Efraím a Manasés, y los dos juntos acometen contra Judá.
