EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Josías celebró en Jerusalén la Pascua del Señor, e inmolaron la víctima pascual el día catorce del primer mes.	1 And Josias kept a phase to the Lord in Jerusalem, and it was sacrificed on the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Restableció a los sacerdotes en sus funciones y los animó a dedicarse enteramente al servicio de la Casa del Señor.	2 And he set the priests in their offices, and exhorted them to minister in the house of the Lord.
3 Luego dijo a los levitas que instruían a todo Israel y estaban consagrados al Señor: «Pongan el Arca santa en el Templo que edificó Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel: ya no tendrán que llevarla sobre los hombros. Ahora sirvan al Señor, su Dios, y a su pueblo Israel.	3 And he spoke to the Levites, by whose instruction all Israel was sanctified to the Lord, saying: Put the ark in the sanctuary of the temple, which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built : for you shall carry it no more: but minister now to the Lord your God, and to his people Israel.
4 Agrúpense por familias, según sus clases, conforme a lo que establecieron por escrito David, rey de Israel, y su hijo Salomón.	4 And prepare yourselves by your houses, and families according to your courses, as David king of Israel commanded, and Solomon his son hath written.
5 Ocupen el sitio que les corresponde en el Santuario, según los grupos de las familias de sus hermanos, la gente del pueblo, de manera que a cada familia le corresponda una sección de los levitas.	5 And serve ye in the sanctuary by the families and companies of Levi.
6 Inmolen la Pascua, santifíquense y prepárenla para sus hermanos, a fin de que ellos puedan celebrarla según la palabra del Señor transmitida por Moisés».	6 And being sanctified kill the phase, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the words which the Lord spoke by the hand of Moses.
7 Josías entregó para la gente del pueblo ganado menor –corderos y cabritos –en número de treinta mil, como víctimas pascuales para todos los que se encontraban allí, y dio además tres mil bueyes. Todo esto provenía de los bienes del rey.	7 And Josias gave to all the people that were found there in the solemnity of the phase, of lambs and of kids of the flocks, and of other small cattle thirty thousand, and of oxen three thousand, all these were of the king's substance.
8 También sus jefes entregaron ofrendas voluntarias para el pueblo, los sacerdotes y los levitas. Jilquías, Zacarías y Iejiel, mayordomos de la Casa de Dios, dieron a los sacerdotes dos mil seiscientas víctimas pascuales y trescientos bueyes.	8 And his princes willingly offered what they had vowed, both to the people and to the priests and the Levites. Moreover Helcias, and Zacharias, and Jahiel rulers of the house of the Lord, gave to the priests to keep the phase two thousand six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
9 Conanías, Semaías y Netanel, sus hermanos, y Jasabías, Ieiel y Iozabad, jefe de los levitas, dieron a estos cinco mil víctimas pascuales y quinientos bueyes.	9 And Chonenias, and Semeias and Nathanael, his brethren, and Hasabias, and Jehiel, and Jozabad princes of the Levites, gave to the rest of the Levites to celebrate the phase five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
10 Una vez organizado el servicio, los sacerdotes ocuparon sus puestos, lo mismo que los levitas, Según sus clases, conforme a la orden del rey.	10 And the ministry was prepared, and the priests stood in their office: the Levites also in their companies, according to the king's commandment.
11 Luego se inmoló la Pascua, y los sacerdotes hacían la aspersión con la sangre recibida de manos de los levitas, mientras estos desollaban las víctimas.	11 And the phase was immolated: and the priests sprinkled the blood with their hand, and the Levites flayed the holocausts:
12 Además, cuando daban su parte a los grupos de familias de la gente del pueblo, separaban lo que se debía ofrecer al Señor en holocausto, como está escrito en el libro de Moisés. E hicieron lo mismo con los bueyes.	12 And they separated them to give them by the houses and families of every one, and to be offered to the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses, and with the oxen they did in like manner.
13 Después asaron al fuego la víctima pascual, como está establecido, cocinaron las otras ofrendas consagradas, en ollas, cacerolas y fuentes, y las repartieron rápidamente entre toda la gente del pueblo.	13 And they roasted the phase with fire, according to that which is written in the law: but the victims of peace offerings they boiled in caldrons, and kettles, and pots, and they distributed them speedily among all the people.
14 Luego prepararon la Pascua para ellos y para los sacerdotes, porque los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón, habían estado ocupados en ofrecer los holocaustos y las grasas hasta la noche: por eso los levitas prepararon la Pascua para sí mismos y para los sacerdotes, hijos de Aarón.	14 And afterwards they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: for the priests were busied in offering of holocausts and the fat until night: wherefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron last.
15 Los cantores, hijos de Asaf, estaban en sus puestos, según las prescripciones de David y de Asaf, de Hemán y de Iedutún, el vidente del rey; y también los porteros ocupaban cada uno su puesto: ninguno de ellos tuvo necesidad de apartarse de su servicio, porque sus hermanos, los levitas, les prepararon la Pascua.	15 And the singers the sons of Asaph stood in their order, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Idithun the prophets of the king: and the porters kept guard at every gate, so as not to depart one moment from their service: and therefore their brethren the Levites prepared meats for them.
16 Así se organizó aquel día todo el servicio del Señor, para celebrar la Pascua y ofrecer los holocaustos sobre el altar del Señor, según la orden del rey Josías.	16 So all the service of the Lord was duly accomplished that day, both in keeping the phase, and offering holocausts upon the altar of the Lord, according to the commandment of king Josias.
17 Los israelitas que se encontraban allí celebraron la Pascua en aquella ocasión, y también la fiesta de los Acimos durante siete días.	17 And the children of Israel that were found there, kept the phase at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
18 Nunca se había celebrado en Israel una Pascua como esta desde los días del profeta Samuel; ninguno de los reyes de Israel había celebrado una Pascua como la que celebró Josías con los sacerdotes y los levitas, con todo Judá, con los israelitas allí presentes y con los habitantes de Jerusalén.	18 There was no phase like to this in Israel, from the days of Samuel the prophet: neither did any of all the kings of Israel keep such a phase as Josias kept, with the priests, and the Levites, and all Juda, and Israel that were found, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 Fue el año dieciocho del reinado de Josías cuando se celebró esta Pascua.	19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josias was this phase celebrated.
20 Después de todo esto, cuando Josías ya había reorganizado el culto del Templo, subió Necao, rey de Egipto, para combatir en Carquemís, junto al río Eufrates. Josías le salió al paso,	20 After that Josias had repaired the temple, Nechao king of Egypt came up to fight in Charcamis by the Euphrates: and Josias went out to meet him.
21 pero Necao le envió mensajeros para decirle: «¿Qué hay entre nosotros, rey de Judá? Ahora no vengo contra ti, sino contra una dinastía que me hace la guerra. Dios me ha dicho que me apure. No te opongas a Dios, que está conmigo, no sea que él te destruya».	21 But he sent messengers to him, saying: What have I to do with thee, O king of Juda? I come not against thee this day, but I fight against another house, to which God hath commanded me to go in haste : forbear to do against God, who is with me, lest he kill thee.
22 Pero Josías no cedió, y se obstinó en combatirlo. Sin escuchar las palabras de Necao, que procedían de la boca de Dios, fue a presentarle batalla en la llanura de Meguido.	22 Josias would not return, but prepared to fight against him, and hearkened not to the words of Nechao from the mouth of God, I but went to fight in the field of Mageddo.
23 Los arqueros dispararon contra el rey Josías, y este dijo a sus servidores: «Sáquenme, porque estoy gravemente herido».	23 And there he was wounded by the archers, and he said to his servants: Carry me out of the battle, for I am grievously wounded.
24 Sus servidores lo sacaron de su carro de guerra, lo subieron a otro carro y lo llevaron a Jerusalén, donde murió. El fue sepultado en los sepulcros de sus padres, y todo Judá y Jerusalén hicieron duelo por Josías.	24 And they removed him from the chariot into another, that followed him after the manner of kings, and they carried him away to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in the monument of his fathers, and all Juda and Jerusalem mourned for him,
25 Jeremías compuso una lamentación sobre Josías, y todos los cantores y cantoras han hablado de él en sus cantos fúnebres hasta el día de hoy. Estos cantos se hicieron tradicionales en Israel y ahora están escritos en las Lamentaciones.	25 Particularly Jeremias: whose lamentations for Josias all the singing men and singing women repeat unto this day, and it became like a law in Israel: Behold it is found written in the Lamentations.
26 El resto de los hechos del rey Josías, sus obras de piedad, acordes con lo que prescribe la Ley del Señor,	26 Now the rest of the acts of Josias and of his mercies, according to what was commanded by the law of the Lord:
27 y todo lo que él hizo, desde el comienzo hasta el fin, está escrito en el Libro de los reyes de Israel y de Judá.	27 And his works first and last, are written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
