1 Voici les bénédictions que Moïse, l’homme de Dieu, prononça sur les fils d’Israël avant de mourir.	1 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.
2 Il dit: “Du Sinaï Yahvé est venu, de Séïr il s’est levé pour toi, Israël, du mont Paran il a montré sa splendeur. Voici qu’il arrive de Mériba de Qadesh, escorté de ses anges.	2 And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.
3 Tu aimes tous les peuples, mais dans ta main est le peuple des saints. Les voici prosternés à tes pieds, et sur eux tombent tes paroles.	3 Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.
4 Moïse nous a donné une Loi, elle est l’héritage de la communauté de Jacob.	4 Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.
5 Yahvé fut alors pour Yéchouroun un roi: les chefs du peuple étaient rassemblés, les tribus d’Israël étaient unies.	5 And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.
6 Que Ruben vive et qu’il ne meure pas, malgré le petit nombre de ses hommes.	6 Let Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few.
7 Voici ce qu’il dit pour Juda: “Ô Yahvé, écoute la voix de Juda et ramène-le vers son peuple. Ses mains combattront pour lui et toi tu lui viendras en aide contre l’adversaire.”	7 And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.
8 Il dit pour Lévi: “Tes Ourim et tes Toumim sont entre les mains d’un homme fidèle. Tu l’as éprouvé à Massa, tu l’as querellé aux eaux de Mériba.	8 And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
9 Il a pu dire de son père et de sa mère: ‘Je ne les ai jamais vus’, et ne pas reconnaître ses frères, et ne savoir rien de ses fils. Car il a la charge de ta Parole et la garde de ton Alliance.	9 Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.
10 Tes prêtres enseignent tes préceptes à Jacob et ta Loi à Israël, ils présentent l’encens à tes narines, et l’holocauste sur ton autel.	10 They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.
11 Ô Yahvé! bénis leur valeur, accueille l’œuvre de leurs mains. Brise les reins de leurs ennemis, de ceux qui les haïssent, que plus jamais leurs ennemis ne se redressent!”	11 Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.
12 Il dit pour Benjamin: “Il est le bien-aimé de Yahvé, il habite en paix à côté de lui. Yahvé le protège sans cesse, il repose entre ses épaules.”	12 And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
13 Il dit pour Joseph: “Que son pays soit béni de Yahvé! qu’il lui donne la rosée, le précieux don du ciel, et les eaux de l’abîme souterrain,	13 And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
14 ce que le soleil généreusement fait croître, et tout ce qui pousse au fil des mois.	14 And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
15 À lui les prémices des montagnes d’autrefois et les dons généreux des collines de toujours,	15 And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills,
16 à lui le meilleur de la terre et de tous ses produits! Que les préférences de Celui qui habitait dans le Buisson reposent sur la tête de Joseph, sur celui qu’il a choisi parmi ses frères.	16 And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
17 Il est pour Lui comme un taureau premier-né, honneur à lui! Ses cornes sont des cornes de buffle; avec elles il bouscule tous les peuples jusqu’aux confins de la terre: voyez ces myriades d’Éphraïm, ces milliers de Manassé!”	17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.
18 Il dit pour Zabulon: “Sois heureux Zabulon, dans tes expéditions, et toi, Issacar, dans tes tentes!	18 And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.
19 Ils rassembleront les peuples sur leur montagne, ils y offriront de justes sacrifices. Car ils goûtent les richesses des mers et les trésors cachés dans le sable.”	19 They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.
20 Il dit pour Gad: “Béni soit celui qui met Gad au large! Il est couché comme une lionne, il déchire le bras et la tête.	20 And of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head.
21 Il a jeté un regard sur la première part, il a vu qu’une part de chef l’attendait. Il a marché à la tête du peuple, il a accompli l’œuvre de Yahvé et ses jugements envers Israël.”	21 And he provided the first part for himself, because there, in a portion of the lawgiver, was he seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments with Israel.
22 Il dit pour Dan: “Dan est comme un jeune lion qui bondit du Bashan.”	22 And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp: he shall leap from Bashan.
23 Il dit pour Nephtali: “Nephtali est comblé de faveurs. Yahvé le comble de bénédictions: qu’il progresse vers la mer et vers le midi.”	23 And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess thou the west and the south.
24 Il dit pour Asher: “Béni soit Asher plus que les autres fils, qu’il soit privilégié parmi ses frères et que ses pieds baignent dans l’huile!	24 And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.
25 Que tes verrous soient de fer et de bronze, et que ta force dure autant que tes jours!	25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.
26 “Ô Yéchouroun, nul n’est comme Dieu, qui pour te secourir chevauche à travers les cieux, et vient sur les nuages dans sa majesté.	26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.
27 Le Dieu des temps anciens est ton refuge; ses bras, qui t’abritent, sont là pour toujours. Devant toi il chasse l’ennemi et te dit: Détruis-le!	27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
28 “Israël demeure en sûreté, la source de Jacob coule à part, dans un pays de blé et de vin où le ciel répand sa rosée.	28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.
29 Heureux es-tu, Israël! Qui est, comme toi, peuple sauvé par Yahvé? Il est le bouclier qui te secourt, l’épée qui te mène à la gloire. Tes ennemis chercheront à t’apaiser, mais toi, tu fouleras aux pieds leurs montagnes.”	29 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
