Seconda Epistola di Santo Paulo a Timoteo 4

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Io testimonio dinanzi a Dio e a Iesù Cristo il quale dee giudicare li vivi e li morti, (e dico) per il suo avvenimento e per il suo regno,	1 Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in thename of his appearing and of his kingdom:
2 che tu prèdichi la parola di Dio; sta perseverantemente nella predicazione e arditamente; riprendi, priega e castiga con ogni pazienza, con ogni ammaestramento.	2 proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, giveencouragement -- but do all with patience and with care to instruct.
3 Chè verrà tempo, che non vorranno sostenere (di udire) la sana (e pura) dottrina; anzi trovaranno e raguneranno a sè maestri e ingannatori,	3 The time is sure to come when people wil not accept sound teaching, but their ears wil be itching foranything new and they wil col ect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes;
4 li quali faranno partire altrui dalla verità, e rivolgerannosi alle favole.	4 and then they will shut their ears to the truth and wil turn to myths.
5 Ma tu veglia, e in tutte le cose lavora, e fa opera di evangelista (e predicatore); compi il tuo servizio che dèi fare, e sii temperato.	5 But you must keep steady al the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfilthe service asked of you.
6 Chè io già mi parto; il tempo della mia fine è presso.	6 As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to depart.
7 Di buono combattimento ho combattuto; il mio corso abbo consumato (e compiuto); la fede ho guardata.	7 I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith;
8 Oggi mai m' è riposta la corona della giustizia, la quale il Signore renderà in quel dì, sì come giusto giudice; e non solamente a me, ma a tutti quelli che amano il suo avvenimento. Studiati di venire a me presto.	8 al there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, wil give tome on that Day; and not only to me but to al those who have longed for his appearing.
9 Chè Demas m' ha abbandonato, amando questo secolo, e andò in Tessalonica.	9 Make every effort to come and see me as soon as you can.
10 E Crescenzio andò in Galazia; Tito in Dalmazia.	10 As it is, Demas has deserted me for love of this life and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens has gone toGalatia and Titus to Dalmatia;
11 E Luca solo è rimaso meco. Prendi Marco, e menalo teco; chè egli m' è utile nel servizio.	11 only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you; I find him a useful helper in my work.
12 Io hoe mandato Tichico in Efeso.	12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 Il vestimento, il quale lasciai in Troade in casa di Carpo, vegnendo recalo teco, e i libri, e specialmente le carte.	13 When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, and the scrol s, especially the parchmentones.
14 Alessandro confiscatore molto male m'ha dimostrato; il Signore renderà a lui secondo l'opere sue.	14 Alexander the coppersmith has done me a lot of harm; the Lord wil repay him as his deeds deserve.
15 Il quale tu schifa (e non abbi usanza con colui); chè molto resistette (e contradisse) alle mie parole.	15 Be on your guard against him yourself, because he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say.
16 Nella prima mia defensione (alla Corte) niuno fu meco, anzi mi abbandonarono tutti; non sia reputato loro a pena.	16 The first time I had to present my defence, no one came into court to support me. Every one of themdeserted me -- may they not be held accountable for it.
17 Ma il Signore fu meco, e confortommi che per me la predicazione sia adempiuta e tutte le genti odano (e intendano la predicazione di Dio); e così sono liberato dalla bocca del leone.	17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be ful yproclaimed for al the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth.
18 Chè Dio m' ha scampato d'ogni male, farammi salvo nel suo regno celestiale; al qual sia gloria nel secolo de' secoli. Amen.	18 The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Tohim be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Salutami Prisca e Aquila, e tutti coloro della casa d' Onesiforo.	19 Greetings to Prisca and Aquila, and the family of Onesiphorus.
20 Erasto rimase a Corinto; e Trofimo lasciai infermo a Mileto.	20 Erastus stayed behind at Corinth, and I left Trophimus il at Miletus.
21 Stùdiati di venire inanzi il verno. Ti salutano Eubulo e Prudente e Lino e Claudia e tutti gli altri fratelli (in Iesù Cristo).	21 Make every effort to come before the winter. Greetings to you from Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudiaand all the brothers.
22 Sia con il spirito tuo il Signore Iesù Cristo. La grazia (del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo) sia con voi. Amen.	22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.
