Deuteronomio 4

1 E ora, Israel, audi i comandamenti e i giudicii i quali io t'insegnerò, acciò che, facendogli, vivi, ed entrando possegghi la terra la quale Iddio, Signore de' vostri padri, vi dee dare.	1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
2 Guardate che voi non aggiugnate alcuna cosa a quello ch' io vi parlo, nè non levate niente; guar date i comandamenti di Dio, vostro Signore, li quali io vi comando.	2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
3 I vostri occhi viddero ogni cosa ch' io feci contro a quello idolo) Beelfegor, e come io uccisi tutti coloro che l'adoravano di mezzo di voi.	3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baal-peor: for all the men that followed Baal-peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
4 Ma voi, i quali v'accostaste e adorate Iddio, vostro Signore, siete tutti vivi insino al dì d'oggi.	4 But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
5 Voi sapete, come io v'insegnai i comandamenti e le giustizie, sì come Iddio, vostro Signore e mio, mi comandò; così le serverete (quando sarete) nella terra la quale dovete possedere (e abitare);	5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
6 e mettetele in operazione; imperciò che questa si è la vostra sapienza e intelletto dinanzi a popoli, imperciò che udendo (li popoli) tutti questi comandamenti, dicano: questo sì è popolo savio, il quale intende cose grandi.	6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
7 E non è alcuna nazione (nè gente) tanto grande, che abbia i suoi dii i quali siano tanto congiunti (e presi per amore) a lui, come Iddio nostro Signore è presente (e presso) a' nostri prieghi (e orazioni).	7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
8 Quale gente anco è, che sia tanto gloriosa, che abbia le osservanze (e comandamenti) e giusti giudicii e tutta quanta la legge, la quale io (dìrò e narrerò e) proporrò oggi dinanzi dagli occhi vostri?	8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
9 Guarda adunque te medesimo e l'anima tua sollicitamente; e guarda che non t'escano di mente le parole e quello ch' hanno veduto i tuoi occhii; guarda che non si partano del cuore tuo, tutti i di della vita tua; ogni cosa insegnerete al vostri figliuoli e a' vostri nipoti,	9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
10 dal dì che istesti dinanzi a Dio, tuo Signore, in Oreb, quando Iddio mi parlò, e disse: fa che tu congreghi a me tutto il popolo, acciò che oda tutte le mie parole e i sermoni, e impari d'avere paura di me, tutto il tempo che vive sopra la terra, e ammaestri i suoi figliuoli.	10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
11 E allora veniste (e saliste) alla radice del monte, il quale ardea insino al cielo; ed eranvi, in quello monte, tenebre e nuvole e oscurità grandissima.	11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
12 E Iddio vi parloe di mezzo del fuoco. Voi udiste la voce delle sue parole; e la forma (e la imagine sua) in niuno modo vedeste.	12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
13 E (si disse e) mostroe il suo patto, il quale egli comandò che voi faceste, e anche le dieci parole (cioè i dieci comandamenti), i quali vi scrisse in due tavole di pietra.	13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
14 E in quello tempo Iddio mi comandò, ch' io v'insegnassi l'osservanze e i giudicii, che dovessi fare nella terra la quale dovete possedere, (e abitare).	14 And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
15 Guardate adunque sollicitamente l'anime vostre. Voi non vedeste alcuna (cosa, né) simiglianza (di cosa veruna), quando vi parlò Iddio, vostro Signore, in Oreb di mezzo del fuoco.	15 Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
16 A ciò fece questo, che ingannati non vi facciate (per Dio) somiglianza (di alcuna imagine) scol pita (relevata), ovvero imagine di femina, ovvero di maschio,	16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17 ovvero somiglianza di alcuno animale che sia sopra la terra, ovvero d'uccelli che volino per lo cielo,	17 The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
18 o (d'altri animali, cioè di schiatta) di serpenti che si muoveno (e vanno) sopra la terra, ovvero di pesci che sotto la terra stanno nell'acqua;	18 The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
19 nè ancora, che levando tu gli occhii tuoi in cielo, e veggendo il sole e la luna e tutte le stelle del cielo, caggendo in errore ti muovi ad adorare e a fare reverenza a quelle cose, le quali Iddio, tuo Signore, creò in servigio di tutte le genti le quali abitano (sopra la terra) sotto il cielo.	19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
20 (Sapete che) Iddio vi trasse (della contrada de Caldei) e si vi menò fuori della fornace del ferro d'Egitto (di molte tribulazioni) acciò ch' egli avesse uno popolo per suo erede, come è (di voi) insino al dì d'oggi.	20 But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
21 E Iddio s'adirò contro di (voi e di) me per le vostre parole, e sì giurò ch' io non passerei il (fiume) Giordano, e non entrerei nella terra ottima, la quale egli vi dee dare.	21 Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
22 Ed ecco ch' io muoio in questa terra, e non passerò (il fiume) Giordano; voi soli passerete, e possederete (e abiterete) quella terra, così buona (e delet tevole e magnifica).	22 But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.
23 Guàrdati che per niuno tempo tu dimentichi il patto di Dio, tuo Signore, il quale ordinò teco; che non facci somiglianza (di alcuna imagine) scolpita (e rilevata) la quale Iddio ti comando che non facessi.	23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
24 Imperciò che Iddio, tuo Signore, egli è un fuoco che consuma ogni cosa; è Iddio che izela molto.	24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
25 E se voi farete figliuoli e nepoti, e sarete istati nella terra, e ingannati vi farete alcuna si miglianza (d'idolo per adorare), facendo male dinanzi da Dio vostro Signore e provocandolo ad ira;	25 When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:
26 insino a qui io chiamo per testimonio il cielo e la terra, che tosto verrete meno della terra, la quale passato (il fiume) Giordano dovete (abitare e) possedere; voi non abitarete in lei molto tempo, ma Iddio [vi] spegnerà,	26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
27 e sì vi spargerà tra tutte quante le genti; e (poi) rimarrete pochi tra l'altre nazioni, alle quali Iddio vi dee (dare e) menare.	27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
28 E quivi servirete agli dii d'altrui) i quali sono (fatti e) fabbricati, per mano d'uomo, di legno e di pietra, che non veggono e non odono, e non mangiano e non fiutano.	28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29 Ma se tu quivi (tra quella gente) anderai chiedendo e cercando lo tuo Signore Iddio, lo tro verai, se con tutto il tuo cuore l'anderai chiedendo e con tutta la tribulazione [dell' anima] tua (cioè che credi perfettamente che solo ti puote liberare).	29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 Poi che ti verranno tutte quante quelle cose ch' io t'ho detto di sopra, poi all'ultimo tempo tornerai a Dio, tuo Signore, e udirai (quello che ti dirà) la sua voce.	30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
31 Imperciò che egli è Iddio tuo Signore (, e Iddio tuo) misericordioso; egli non ti abbandonerà, nè non ti ucciderà; e non si dimenticherà del patto, il quale giurò alli tuoi padri.	31 (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
32 Domanda delli di antichi, che sono istati (e passati) inanzi a te, da quello dì che Iddio creò il primo uomo (Adam) sopra la terra, dall'altezza del cielo insino alla sua altezza, se mai fu fatta così fatta cosa, ovvero mai saputa fu,	32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
33 che mai (uomo sopra la terra,) popolo udisse la voce di Dio, che favellasse nel mezzo del fuoco, come tu udisti e vedesti;	33 Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
34 ancora se Iddio hae fatto questo, che entrasse e togliesse gente del mezzo di tutte quante le nazioni, (facendo loro singolari cose,) e tentandogli, facendo segni e maravigliose cose, per battaglia, per for tezza di mano, e col braccio isteso, per visioni orri bili, siccome tutte quelle cose le quali vi fece Iddio vostro Signore in Egitto, veggendo gli occhii tuoi;	34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
35 acciò che tu sapessi che Iddio, tuo Signore, sì è solo (vero) Iddio, e non alcuno altro [fuori] di lui.	35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.
36 Dal cielo ti fece udire la sua voce, acciò che t'ammaestrasse (e insegnasse); e anche nella terra ti mostrò lo grandissimo suo fuoco, e udisti le parole sue del mezzo del fuoco.	36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
37 Imperciò ch' egli amò i padri tuoi, e sì elesse i suoi figliuoli dopo loro; e sì ti trasse (e menò) di Egitto, andando dinanzi con la sua grande virtude (e potenzia),	37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
38 per (uccidere e) ispegnere queste grandi nazioni e genti più forti di te, nell'entrare che facessi a loro; e si (vi ti mettesse entro, e sì) ti desse la terra loro in possessione, come vedi in questo die d'oggi presente.	38 To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
39 Sappi adunque oggi, e pensa nel tuo cuore, che Iddio è Signore suso il cielo, e giuso nella terra; e non è alcuno altro.	39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
40 Guarda i suoi comandamenti, i quali io ti comandai, acciò che tu abbia bene, e li figliuoli tuoi dopo te, e stii tu molto tempo sopra la terra la quale Iddio tuo Signore ti dee dare.	40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
41 Allora Moisè separoe (e ordinoe) tre città, di là dal (fiume) Giordano, dalla parte d'oriente,	41 Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
42 acciò che vi potesse fuggire chiunque uccidesse alcuna persona contra a sua volontà, e non fosse istato suo inimico innanzi a quelli dì, e che potesse fuggire ad una di queste cittadi e iscampare.	42 That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
43 L'una si fue Bosor, nella solitudine, la quale si è posta nella terra piana della tribù (e schiatta) di la Ruben; e l'altre fue Ramot che è in Galaad, quale si è nella tribù (e schiatta) di Gad; e Golan in Basan, la quale è nella tribù di Manasse.	43 Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.
44 Questa si è la legge, la quale puose Moisè dinanzi ai figliuoli d'Israel.	44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
45 E questi sono i testimonii e l'osservanze e giudizii, i quali egli parlò ai figliuoli d'Israel, quando furono usciti d'Egitto,	45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,
46 di là dal (fiume) Giordano; nella valle che sta dirincontro al tempio (dell' idolo) di Fogor nella terra di Seon del re degli Amorrei, lo quale abitava in Esebon, i quali uccise Moisè. E i figliuoli d'Israel, usciti d'Egitto,	46 On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:
47 sì possedettono la terra sua, e la terra di Og re di Basan, di due re degli Amorrei li quali erano di là dal (fiume) Giordano, dal lato dell' oriente, (dove si leva il sole),	47 And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
48 da Aroer, la quale è posta (ed edificata) sopra la ripa del torrente (dell' acqua) di Arnon, insino al monte di Sion, che è in Ermon,	48 From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,
49 tutto quanto il piano dilae dal (fiume) Gior dano, dalla parte dell' oriente, insino al mare della solitudine e insino a piè del monte di Fasga.	49 And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.
