1 E fatto è uno giorno del sabbato, passando egli per biade, gli suoi discepoli cavavano le spiche; e fricandole con le mani, manucavano.	1 Now it happened that, on the second first Sabbath, as he passed through the grain field, his disciples were separating the ears of grain and eating them, by rubbing them in their hands.
2 Onde alcuni de' Farisei dicevanli: il perchè facete quel che non è lecito nelli giorni del sabbato?	2 Then certain Pharisees said to them, “Why are you doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”
3 E rispondendo Iesù a loro, disse: etiam non avete leggiuto quel che fece David, avendo egli fame, ed etiam coloro ch' erano con lni?	3 And responding to them, Jesus said: “Have you not read this, what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him?
4 Come entrò nella casa di Dio, e tolse del pane della proposizione, e mangiò, e dettene a quelli ch' erano con lui; alli quali non era lecito a manucare, salvo a' soli sacerdoti?	4 How he entered into the house of God, and took the bread of the Presence, and ate it, and gave it to those who were with him, though it is not lawful for anyone to eat it, except the priests alone?”
5 E a loro diceva, come il Figliuolo dell' uomo egli è etiam signore del sabbato	5 And he said to them, “For the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
6 E fatto fu nell' altro sabbato, ch' entrò nella sinagoga, e insegnava. E quivi era uno uomo, la cui mano dritta era secca.	6 And it happened that, on another Sabbath, he entered into the synagogue, and he taught. And there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.
7 Eli Scribi e li Farisei ponevano mente, se egli sanasse nel sabbato, acciò trovassero la cagione ad accusarlo.	7 And the scribes and Pharisees observed whether he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might thereby find an accusation against him.
8 Ma egli sapeva loro pensieri; e disse all' uomo che avea la man secca: lèvati, e sta nel mezzo. Ed egli levato sì stette.	8 Yet truly, he knew their thoughts, and so he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise up and stand in the middle.” And rising up, he stood still.
9 Onde Iesù disse a loro: addimandovi, s' egli è lecito nel sabbato a fare bene, ovvero male, a fare salva la sua anima, ovvero a ucciderla?	9 Then Jesus said to them: “I ask you if it is lawful on the Sabbaths to do good, or to do evil? To give health to a life, or to destroy it?”
10 E guardando tutti dintorno, disse all' uomo: istendi la tua mano. Ed egli la istese, e fu restituita la sua mano alla sanità.	10 And looking around at everyone, he said to the man, “Extend your hand.” And he extended it. And his hand was restored.
11 Ma quelli furono empiuti di insipienza; e parlavano insieme quello che potessero fare a Iesù.	11 Then they were filled with madness, and they discussed with one another, what, in particular, they might do about Jesus.
12 E fatto è in quelli giorni, ch' egli uscitte a orare nel monte; ed egli dispensò tutta la notte in orazione.	12 And it happened that, in those days, he went out to a mountain to pray. And he was in the prayer of God throughout the night.
13 Ed essendo fatto il giorno, chiamò li suoi discepoli, e di essi eleggette dodici, li quali etiam nominò apostoli;	13 And when daylight had arrived, he called his disciples. And he chose twelve out of them (whom he also named Apostles):
14 (li quali furono questi): Simone nominato Pietro, e Andrea suo fratello, Iacobo e Ioanne, Filippo e Bartolomeo,	14 Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
15 e Matteo e Tomaso, Iacobo figliuolo di Alfeo, e Simone che si chiama Zelote,	15 Matthew and Thomas, James of Alphaeus, and Simon who is called the Zealot,
16 e Iuda di Iacobo, e Iuda Scariote, il quale fu traditore.	16 and Jude of James, and Judas Iscariot, who was a traitor.
17 E discendendo con quelli, ristette in uno luogo campestre con la turba e con gli suoi discepoli, e molte grande turba del popolo di Iudea e di Ierusalem e di molte parti, i quali passorono il mare di Tiro e di Sidone;	17 And descending with them, he stood in a level place with a multitude of his disciples, and a copious multitude of people from all of Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast, and Tyre and Sidon,
18 li quali erano venuti per udir Iesù, e per esser sanati di loro infermità. E quelli, ch' erano vessati dalli demonii, erano da lui curati.	18 who had come so that they might listen to him and be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled by unclean spirits were cured.
19 E tutta la turba cercava di toccarlo; imperò che virtù usciva di lui, che sanava tutti.	19 And the entire crowd was trying to touch him, because power went out from him and healed all.
20 Ed egli levando gli occhi inverso gli discepoli suoi, disse: beati gli poveri (di spirito), imperò ch' egli è loro il regno del cielo.	20 And lifting up his eyes to his disciples, he said: “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Beati quelli che piangono ora, imperò che si rallegreranno. Beati coloro che hanno fame, imperò che saranno saturati.	21 Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who are weeping now, for you shall laugh.
22 Beati sarete, quando gli uomini vi aranno in odio, e separerannovi e vergognarannovi e cacciarannovi e disprezzeranno li nomi vostri, sì come rei (e cattivi), per lo Figliuolo dell' uomo.	22 Blessed shall you be when men will have hated you, and when they will have separated you and reproached you, and thrown out your name as if evil, because of the Son of man.
23 Godete in quel giorno, e rallegratevi; imperò che la vostra mercede è copiosa in cielo; imperò che loro padri facevano alli profeti secondo queste cose.	23 Be glad in that day and exult. For behold, your reward is great in heaven. For these same things their fathers did to the prophets.
24 Nientedimeno, guai a voi, ricchi, li quali avete la vostra consolazione.	24 Yet truly, woe to you who are wealthy, for you have your consolation.
25 Guai a voi che viete satolli, imperò che sarete affamati! Guai a voi che al presente ridete, imperò che lacrimarete e piagnerete!	25 Woe to you who are satisfied, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.
26 Guai a voi, quando tutti li uomini diranno bene di voi! Imperò che i loro padri facevano alli [falsi] profeti secondo tutte queste cose.	26 Woe to you when men will have blessed you. For these same things their fathers did to the false prophets.
27 Ma a voi che udite dico: amate li vostri inimici, ben fate a coloro che vi hanno avuto in odio.	27 But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.
28 Benedicete alli vostri maldicenti; orate per coloro che vi calunniano.	28 Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who slander you.
29 E cui ti percote nella guancia, porgili l'altra; e a colui che ti tolle il mantello, non li voler vietare etiam la vestimenta.	29 And to him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your coat, do not withhold even your tunic.
30 Ma a ognuno che ti dimanda, donali; e cui ti tolle quel ch' è tuo, non ripetere.	30 But distribute to all who ask of you. And do not ask again of him who takes away what is yours.
31 A modo che volete che gli uomini a voi facciano, similmente fate a loro.	31 And exactly as you would want people to treat you, treat them also the same.
32 E se voi amate coloro che vi amano, a voi che grazia è? onde etiam li peccatori amano coloro che amano loro.	32 And if you love those who love you, what credit is due to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 E se voi farete bene a quelli che vi fanno bene, che grazia sarà a voi? onde certo etiam li peccatori fanno questo.	33 And if you will do good to those who do good to you, what credit is due to you? Indeed, even sinners behave this way.
34 E se imprestate a quelli, da' quali sperate di ricevere, che grazia egli è a voi? onde e li peccatori imprestano alli peccatori, perchè ricevano le cose eguali.	34 And if you will loan to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is due to you? For even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive the same in return.
35 Ma dicovi: amate li vostri inimici, fate bene, e imprestate, non sperando conseguire alcuna cosa; e molta sarà la vostra mercede, e voi sarete figliuoli dell' Altissimo; imperò ch' egli è benigno sopra li ingrati e mali uomini.	35 So truly, love your enemies. Do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and to the wicked.
36 Siate adunque misericordiosi, a modo che il vostro padre è misericordioso.	36 Therefore, be merciful, just as your Father is also merciful.
37 Non vogliate giudicare, e non sarete giudicati; non vogliate condannare, e non sarete condannati; perdonate, e saravvi perdonato.	37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Date, e a voi sarà dato; loro daranno nel vostro seno la misura buona ed empiuta, e bene fondata e soprabbondante; ma con quella medesima. misura con la quale misurate, a voi sarà misurato.	38 Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down and shaken together and overflowing, they will place upon your lap. Certainly, the same measure that you use to measure out, will be used to measure back to you again.”
39 E a loro diceva la similitudine: or può il cieco guidar l' altro cieco? or ambidue non caderanno nella fossa?	39 Now he told them another comparison: “How can the blind lead the blind? Would they not both fall into a pit?
40 E non v'è alcuno discepolo sopra il maestro; certo ogni uomo sarà perfetto, se egli è come il maestro suo.	40 The disciple is not above his teacher. But each one will be perfected, if he is like his teacher.
41 E tu il perchè vedi la festuca nell'occhio del tuo fratello, ma non consideri lo trabe ch' è nel tuo occhio?	41 And why do you see the straw that is in your brother’s eye, while the log that is in your own eye, you do not consider?
42 Ovvero come puoi dicere al tuo fratello : fratello, lascia ch' io cavi la festuca del tuo occhio; e tu stesso non vedi lo trabe nell' occhio tuo? O ipocrita, leva prima lo trabe dall' occhie tuo, e allora vederai a togliere via la festuca dall' occhio del tuo fratello.	42 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, allow me to remove the straw from your eye,’ while you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? Hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, and then will you see clearly, so that you may lead out the straw from your brother’s eye.
43 Certo quel non è buono arboro, che fa mali frutti; e non è arboro malo, che facci buoni frutti.	43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor does an evil tree produce good fruit.
44 Egli è conosciuto ogni arboro per il frutto suo. Certo non ricogliono li fichi dalli spini; e non vendemmiano l'uva dalla rovere.	44 For each and every tree is known by its fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather the grape from the bramble bush.
45 Il buono uomo proferisce il bene dal buono tesauro del suo cuore; e il mal uomo proferisce il male dal malo tesauro. Imperò che per l' abbondanza del cuore parla la bocca.	45 A good man, from the good storehouse of his heart, offers what is good. And an evil man, from the evil storehouse, offers what is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
46 Ma il perchè mi chiamate: Signore, Signore, e non fate quel ch' io vi dico?	46 But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?
47 Io vi mostrerò a cui sia simile ogni uomo, che a me viene, e ode li parlari miei, e opera quelli.	47 Anyone who comes to me, and listens to my words, and does them: I will reveal to you what he is like.
48 Egli è simile all' uomo edificante la casa, il quale cavò in profondo, e pose il fondamento sopra la pietra; ma fatto il crescere d'acqua, con impeto corse (e alzossi) il fiume (correndo) a quella casa, e non la possette movere; imperò che lei era fondata. sopra la (ferma) pietra.	48 He is like a man building a house, who has dug deep and has laid the foundation upon the rock. Then, when the floodwaters came, the river was rushing against that house, and it was not able to move it. For it was founded upon the rock.
49 Ma cui ode, e non fa, egli è simile all' uomo edificante la sua casa sopra la terra senza fondamento; nella qual corse impetuosamente il fiume, e incontanente quella cascò; e fu fatta una grande ruina nella casa di colui.	49 But whoever hears and does not do: he is like a man building his house upon the soil, without a foundation. The river rushed against it, and it soon fell down, and the ruin of that house was great.”
