Proverbi 6

BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figliuolo mio, se tu prometterai per l'amico tuo, tu hai firmato la mano tua apresso ad altrui,	1 My son, if you have taken a pledge on behalf of your friend, then you have bound your hand to an outsider,
2 e hai obbligato la roba tua; a quello tu sei obligato con le tue parole.	2 then you are ensnared by the words of your own mouth, and taken captive by your own words.
3 Fa adunque, figliuolo mio, quello ch' io ti dico, e te stesso ti libera; per che tu sei intrato nelle mani del tuo prossimo (per la obligazione fatta). Discorri, sollecita e cerca l'amico tuo,	3 Therefore, my son, do what I say, and free yourself, for you have fallen into the hand of your neighbor. Run, hurry, awaken your friend.
4 acciò tu sie liberato da quello obligo; e liberati dalle mani sue.	4 Do not grant sleep to your eyes, nor let your eyelids slumber.
5 E fa come l'uccello quando si libera dalle insidie dell' uccellatore, (cioè quando tu se' cascato nel peccato, sei fatto suddito al diavolo e a lui dedicato; però bisogna tu ti levi, e discorri per la via della penitenza a liberarti da quello).	5 Rescue yourself like a gazelle from the hand, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Va alla formica, o uomo pigro, e considera le sue operazioni, e appara sapienza.	6 Go to the ant, you lazy one, and consider her ways, and so learn wisdom.
7 La quale, ben che non abbi duce, nè precettore, nè soprastante,	7 For though she has no ruler, nor instructor, nor leader,
8 s' apparecchia la estate il cibo, e congrega nel tempo della mietitura quello è bisogno per la vita sua.	8 she provides meals for herself in the summer, and she gathers at the harvest what she may eat.
9 O pigro, fino a ora dormi? Quando ti levarai dal sonno?	9 How long will you slumber, you lazy one? When will you rise up from your sleep?
10 Tu dormirai, e poco adopererai acciò che tu dormi.	10 You will sleep a little, you will slumber a little, you will fold your hands a little to sleep,
11 E verratti la penuria tostamente, e la povertà dalla quale tu non potrai fuggire: (e questo ti avvenirà così nelli beni spirituali, se tu sarai pigro a bene operare; sopraverratti la morte, dalla quale non potrai fuggire, e sarai dannato). Se veramente tu non sarai pigro, (ma sollecito così circa li beni spirituali come temporali), ti verrà copia del tutto, come fonti d' acque che non mancheranno: e penuria non si trovarà appresso a te.	11 and then destitution will meet with you, like a traveler, and poverty, like an armed man. Yet truly, if you would be diligent, then your harvest will arrive like a fountain, and destitution will flee far from you.
12 L'uomo apostata (seminator di discordie) è uomo inutile (è a se e ad altrui), e le opere sue sono perverse; (la bocca sua è dedicata ad adulazione e detrazione).	12 An apostate man, a harmful man, walks with a perverse mouth;
13 È nel vedere impudico (instabile e incostante), non sta mai fermo in uno luogo, (persevera nel mal fare) parlando con le dita.	13 he winks with the eyes, touches with the foot, speaks with the finger.
14 Pensa sempre nel cuore suo di far male, e tutto il tempo consuma in poner discordie.	14 With a depraved heart he devises evil, and at all times he sows conflict.
15 A questo tale sùbito e nell' improvviso verrà la perdizione sua, e sùbito morrà (quanto al corpo e quanto all' anima), e non vi sarà più rimedio.	15 To this one, his perdition will arrive promptly, and he shall be crushed suddenly: he will no longer have any remedy.
16 Sei condizioni di uomini ha odiato il Signore, e la settima ha detestato l'anima sua;	16 Six things there are that the Lord hates, and the seventh, his soul detests:
17 (I superbo va con) gli occhi elevati il mendace assuefatto, quello si diletta di sparger il sangue innocente;	17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18 quello compone nel cuore suo pessime cogitazioni (ordinate ad estirpar e confondere i buoni ); quello è pronto e preparato ad (eseguire e) operar ogni male;	18 a heart that devises the most wicked thoughts, feet running swiftly unto evil,
19 quello è pronto a testificar falsamente (e assuefatto); e quello che semina nel prossimo discordie, (come sono eretici e scismatici).	19 a deceitful witness bringing forth lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
20 Conserva, figliuolo mio, i comandamenti del padre tuo, e non abbandonare la legge della madre tua.	20 My son, preserve the precepts of your father, and do not dismiss the law of your mother.
21 Stabiliscile nel cuore tuo sempre (acciò tu abbi facoltà di ben operare), e circondale alla gola tua (acciò abbi modo di parlare [come] fa mestieri secondo il tempo).	21 Bind them to your heart unceasingly, and encircle them around your throat.
22 Quando tu anderai, fa che vengano teco; quando tu dormirai, saranno tue custodie; e quando ti sveglierai, parla con loro.	22 When you walk, let them keep step with you. When you sleep, let them guard you. And when you keep watch, speak with them.
23 Per che il comandamento è come lucerna, la legge come luce (in tutte le buone operazioni), e la correzione (degli uomini santi, come si debba bene operare) è una via a condurci a vita eterna;	23 For commandment is a lamp, and law is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life.
24 acciò te liberino dalle femine male, e dalla dolce lingua della adultera.	24 So may they guard you from an evil woman, and from the flattering tongue of the outsider.
25 Non desideri il cor tuo la bellezza sua, acciò tu non sia illaqueato da' suoi gesti.	25 Let not your heart desire her beauty; do not be captivated by her winks.
26 Per che la dilettazione della meretrice (è molto breve, e dura poco tempo, e il prezzo suo) è appena di valuta di uno pane; ma la femina tuole all' uomo l'anima sua preziosa (fatta alla imagine di Dio, quando l' uomo sì la sa sedurre).	26 For the price of a prostitute is only one loaf. Yet the woman seizes the precious soul of a man.
27 Saria possibile, che l'uomo potesse asconder il fuoco nel seno suo, e le sue vestimente non s'abruciasse?	27 Would a man be able to conceal fire in his bosom, so that his garments would not burn?
28 ovver andar sopra i carboni accesi, e non s'abruciasse le piante de' piedi?	28 Or could he walk over burning coals, so that his feet would not be burned?
29 Così colui che entra alla mogliere del suo prossimo, non sarà senza peccato da poi l'avrà toccata.	29 So also, he who enters to the wife of his neighbor shall not be clean when he touches her.
30 Non è gran peccato a furar quello d'altrui (per comparazione dell' adulterio); per che chi ruba fa questo, per che essendo povero, ch' egli abbi da sovvenirsi.	30 Not so great is the fault when someone has stolen. For he steals so as to satisfy a hungry soul.
31 Dopo serà cognosciuto il furto, bisognerà ch' el restituisca integralmente, e vendendo tutto lo aver di casa sua darà per satisfazione (e rimarrà libero).	31 Also, if he is apprehended, he shall repay sevenfold and hand over all the substance of his house.
32 Ma quello che è adultero, per la insipienza del suo cuore perde l'anima sua, (la qual è di molto maggiore danno, che perder la roba. Adunque maggior offesa è al prossimo l'adulterio, che il furto; per che nel furto si puote far restituzione, ma nell'adulterio non si puote far restituzione).	32 But whoever is an adulterer, because of the emptiness of his heart, will destroy his own soul.
33 Grande turpitudine e grande infamia si congrega lo adultero, e l' obbrobrio suo non è rimosso.	33 He gathers shame and dishonor to himself, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.
34 Per che il zelo e il furore di Cristo non li -perdonerà nel dì del giudicio.	34 For the jealousy and fury of the husband will not spare him on the day of vindication,
35 Nè si poterà placare per preghiera di alcuno, nè in quel tempo vi valerà (oro, ovver argento, ovver) dono alcuno, (ma rimarrà perpetualmente dannato).	35 nor will he agree to the pleadings of anyone, nor will he accept, as repayment, a multitude of gifts.
