1 Nel mese terzo del partimento d'Israel della terra d'Egitto, in questo dì venne nella solitudine di Sinai.	1 In the third month of the departure of Israel out of the land of Egypt, on this day they came into the wilderness of Sinai:
2 Chè partendosi da Rafidim, e pervenenti in sino nel deserto di Sinai, s'incastellarono in quello medesimo luogo; e quivi li figliuoli d'Israel fecero case nella regione del monte.	2 For departing out of Raphidim, and coming to the desert of Sinai, they camped in the same place, and there Israel pitched their tents over against the mountain.
3 Ma Moisè andd a Dio nel monte; e chiamò lui lo Signore del monte, e disse: queste cose dirai alla casa di Iacob, e annunzierai alli figliuoli d'Israel:	3 And Moses went up to God: and the Lord called unto him from the mountain, and said: Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 Voi stessi vedeste quelle cose ch' io ho fatte a quelli d'Egitto, e come io portai voi sopra l'ale dell' aquile, ed abbiavi assunti a me.	4 You have seen what I have done to the Egyptians, how I have carried you upon the wings of eagles, and have taken you to myself.
5 Se adunque udirete la voce mia, e guarderete lo patto mio, sarete a me in dilezione più di tutti li popoli: mia in verità è tutta la terra.	5 If therefore you will hear my voice, and keep my covenant, you shall be my peculiar possession above all people: for all the earth is mine.
6 E voi sarete a me in regno sacerdotale, e gente santa; e queste sono le parole che favellerai alli figliuoli d'Israel.	6 And you shall be to me a priestly kingdom, and a holy nation. Those are the words thou shalt speak to the children of Israel.
7 Venne Moisè, e chiamò li maggiori di nascimento del popolo, ed espose tutte le parole le quali gli comandava lo Signore.	7 Moses came, and calling together the elders of the people, he declared all the words which the Lord had commanded.
8 Rispose tutto il popolo insieme, e disse: tutte quelle cose che disse lo Signore faremo. E quando rapportò Moisè le parole del popolo al Signore,	8 And all the people answered together: All that the Lord hath spoken, we will do. And when Moses had related the people's words to the Lord,
9 rispose a lui lo Signore: già ora verrò a te nella oscurità della nuvola, acciò che oda lo popolo lo mio favellare il quale io farò a te, e poi creda a te in perpetuo. Nunciò adunque Moisè le parole del popolo al Signore.	9 The Lord said to him: Lo, now will I come to thee in the darkness of a cloud, that the people may hear me speaking to thee, and may believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people to the Lord.
10 Il quale disse a lui: vae al popolo, e santifica coloro oggi e domani; e lavinsi le vestimenta loro.	10 And he said to him: Go to the people, and sanctify them to day, and to morrow, and let them wash their garments.
11 E siano apparecchiati lo di terzo; nello di terzo discenderà lo Signore innanzi ad ogni schiatta sopra lo monte Sinai.	11 And let them be ready against the third day: for on the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
12 E ordinerai al popolo li termini d'intorno, e dirai: guardatevi, che voi non sagliate nello monte, nè non tocchiate le fini sue: chiunque toccherà lo monte, di morte incontinente morrà.	12 And thou shalt appoint certain limits to the people round about, and thou shalt say to them: Take heed you go not up into the mount, and that ye touch not the borders thereof: every one that toucheth the mount dying he shall die.
13 La mano non tocchi lui; ma colle pietre sia opprimuto, ovvero che sia cavato alle mazze; se animale sia, ovvero uomo, non viverà; quando comincerà a sonare colla buccina, allora salgano nel monte.	13 No hands shall touch him, but he shall be stoned to death, or shall be shot through with arrows: whether it be beast, or man, he shall not live. When the trumpet shall begin to sound, then let them go up into the mount.
14 E discese Moisè del monte al popolo, e santificò lui. E quando ebbero lavato le vestimenta loro,	14 And Moses came down from the mount to the people, and sanctified them. And when they had washed their garments,
15 disse a loro: siate apparecchiati nello terzo die, nè non vi approssimate alle mogli vostre (dice Dio onnipotente).	15 He said to them: Be ready against the third day, and come not near your wives.
16 Già era venuto lo terzo die, e la mattina schiarava; ed ecco incominciarono ad essere uditi li tuoni, e risplendere le saette, e li nuvoli gran dissimi coprire lo monte; e lo clamore della buccina fortemente gridava. Temette lo popolo ch' era nei castelli.	16 And now the third day was come, and the morning appeared: and behold thunders began to be heard, and lightning to flash, and a very thick cloud to cover the mount, and the noise of the trumpet sounded exceeding loud, and the people that was in the camp, feared.
17 E quando ebbe menato loro Moisè incontro a Dio dal luogo delli castelli, istettero alle radici del monte.	17 And when Moses had brought them forth to meet God from the place of the camp, they stood at the bottom of the mount.
18 Ma tutto lo monte Sinai fumava; perciò ch' era disceso lo Signore Iddio sopra quello in similitudine di fuoco; e usciva lo fumo di quello, quasi come di fornace; ed era tutto lo monte spa ventevole.	18 And all mount Sinai was on a smoke: because the Lord was come down upon it in fire, and the smoke arose from it as out of a furnace: and all the mount was terrible.
19 E lo suono della buccina a poco a poco crescea, e (crescea lo suono della buccina, alcuna volta alquanto maggiore e prolisso, cioè) più lunga mente s'aspettava; e favellava Moisè, e lo Signore rispondeva a lui.	19 And the sound of the trumpet grew by degrees louder and louder, and was drawn out to a greater length: Moses spoke, and God answered him.
20 E discese lo Signore sopra monte Sinai, in quella medesima altezza del monte, e chiamò Moisè nell'altezza sua. Il quale quando ascese,	20 And the Lord came down upon mount Sinai, in the very top of the mount, and he called Moses unto the top thereof. And when he was gone up thither,
21 disse a lui: discendi, e protesta al popolo, acciò che per avventura ne volessero trapassare li termini a vedere lo Signore, e perisca di loro molta moltitudine.	21 He said unto him: Go down, and charge the people: lest they should have a mind to pass the limits to see the Lord, and a very great multitude of them should perish.
22 Ma li sacerdoti, li quali verranno al Signo re, siano santificati, acciò che non li percuota.	22 The priests also that come to the Lord, let them be sanctified, lest he strike them.
23 E disse Moisè al Signore: non potrà salire lo popolo nel monte Sinai; tu in verità hai testifificato e comandasti, dicendo: poni i termini intorno al monte, e santifica lui.	23 And Moses said to the Lord: The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou did charge, and command, saying: Set limits about the mount, and sanctify it.
24 Al quale disse lo Signore: va e discendi; ed ascendi tu, ed Aaron (tuo fratello) teco; ma li preti e il popolo non trapassino li termini, e non salgano al Signore, acciò che per avventura non uccida loro.	24 And the Lord said to him: Go, get thee down: and thou shalt come up, thou and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people pass the limits, nor come up to the Lord, lest he kill them.
25 E discese Moisè al popolo, ed ogni cosa narrò a loro.	25 And Moses went down to the people and told them all.
