Jeremiah 5

1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.	1 Circuite le vie di Ierusalem, e guardate, e considerate, e addomandate nelle piazze sue, se voi potete trovare uomo che facci giudicio, e che cerchi la fede; e sarò a lui propizio.
2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.	2 E se anche: vive lo Signore, abbiano detto; e questo giuraranno falsamente.
3 O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.	3 Signore, li tuoi occhi ragguardano la fede; percotestili, e non si dolsono; attritastili (cioè correggestili), e rinunciarono di ricever la disciplina; indurarono le loro faccie sopra le pietre, e non volseno ritornare.
4 Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.	4 E io dissi: forse che sono poveri e istolti, e ignoranti la via del Signore, il giudicio dello loro Iddio.
5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.	5 Adunque io anderò alli ottimati, (li ottimati sono come principi), e parlerò con loro: loro hanno conosciuto la via del Signore, e lo giudicio dello loro Iddio; ed ecco che più hanno rotto lo giogo insieme costoro, e hanno rotto li legami.
6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.	6 Però hae percosso loro lo leone della selva, lo lupo nel vespro li guastoe, lo leopardo vigilante sopra le loro cittadi; ogni uomo lo quale sarà uscito di quelle sarà preso; però che sono moltiplicate le loro prevaricazioni, e le loro inobbedienze sono confortate.
7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.	7 Or sopra che cosa ti potrò io essere propizio? li tuoi figliuoli m' hanno abbandonato, e giurano in quelli che non sono iddii; io li hoe saturati, e loro hanno commesso adulterio, e nella casa della meretrice lussuriavano.
8 They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.	8 Sono fatti (amatori delle femine) come i cavalli che sono mandati alle cavalle per stallonì; ciascuno andava dopo la moglie del prossimo suo, come pazzo.
9 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?	9 Or non visiterò io sopra costoro? dice il Signore; e l' anima mia non si vendicherà in cotali genti?
10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.	10 Salite in su le sue mura, e dissipatele (cioè guastatele), ma non le consumate; togliete via li suoi rami, imperò che non sono del Signore.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.	11 La casa d' Israel sì è prevaricata per prevaricazione in me, e la casa di Giuda, dice Iddio.
12 They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:	12 Hanno negato Iddio, e dissono: non è egli, e non verrà sopra noi lo male; il coltello e la fame non vederemo.
13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.	13 Li profeti parlarono al vento, e risposta non fue in loro; adunque queste cose avverranno a loro.
14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.	14 Dice Iddio Signore delli esèrciti: però che avete parlato cotali parole, ecco io doe le mie parole nella bocca tua in fuoco, e questo popolo in legna, e divorerà (e consumerà) loro.
15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.	15 Ecco, o casa d' Israel, io adducerò gente sopra voi da lungo paese, dice Iddio, robusta gente, antica gente, la cui lingua tu non saprai, nè intenderai come si parli.
16 Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.	16 Lo suo turcasso quasi come uno sepolcro aperto; e tutti forti.
17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.	17 E (quella gente) mangerà lo tuo pane e le tue biade; divorerà li tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole; anche mangerà le tue greggie, la vigna e li tuoi fichi; e atterrerà le tue cittadi armate, nelle quali tu hai fidanza, (dico) di coltello.
18 Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.	18 Ma pure in quel tempo io non farò voi in consumazione, dice Iddio.
19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.	19 E se voi direte: per che ci ha fatto Iddio tutte queste cose? dirai a loro: siccome voi abbandonaste me, e serviste allo iddio straniero nella vostra terra, così servirete alli altrui nella terra non vostra.
20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,	20 Annunciate queste cose alla casa di Iacob, e fatelo udire nella casa di Giuda, dicendo:
21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:	21 Odi, populo istolto, lo quale non hai cuore; i quali avete occhi e non vedete, avete orecchie e non udite.
22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?	22 Me adunque non temerete, dice Iddio, e dalla mia faccia non vi dolerete? il quale (cioè Iddio) ho posto la rena termine al mare, comandamento sempiterno, lo quale comandamento non preterirà; e commoverannosi e non potranno; e le sue onde gonfieranno, e non passeranno quello.
23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.	23 A questo popolo si è fatto lo cuore incredulo (cioè che non crede) e aspro; partironsi e andàronsene.
24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.	24 E non dissono nel loro cuore: temiamo Iddio nostro Signore, il quale ci dà piova temporanea (cioè quando deve essere) e serotina quando richiede lo tempo;la plenitudine della ricolta annuale conservandola a noi.
25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.	25 Le vostre iniquitadi (e li vostri mali) hanno declinate (e tolte) tutte queste cose; e li vostri peccati vi hanno vietati li beni da voi.
26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.	26 Però che nel mio populo sono trovati li empii (e li malvagi e) agguatando come fanno li uccellatori, ponendo li lacciuoli e le tagliuole, e pigliando gli uomini.
27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.	27 Si come la gabbia (ritrosa) piena di uccelli, è così la loro casa piena d' inganno; e però sono magnificati e arricchiti.
28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.	28 E sono impinguati e ingrassati, e hanno passati i miei detti pessimamente. Lo piato (e la questione) della vedova non giudicarono, (cioè che non aiutarono la vedova nè la povera nel suo piato); lo piato delli pupilli non dirizzonno, e lo giudicio del povero non giudicarono.
29 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?	29 Or non visiterò io sopra queste cose? dice Iddio; ovvero sopra cotali genti non si vendicherà l'animo mio?
30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;	30 Stupore e (così) cose maravigliose sono fatte in terra.
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?	31 Li profeti profetarono le bugie (e li mentiri), e li sacerdoti sì truffarono colle loro mani, e lo mio popolo hae amato (e dilettatosi in) cose così fatte: or dunque che si farà nel suo novissimo die?
