1 Az ige, mely elhangzott Jeremiáshoz az Úrtól:	1 The following message came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
2 »Halljátok e szövetség igéit! Beszéld el azokat Júda férfiainak és Jeruzsálem lakóinak!	2 Speak to the men of Judah and to the citizens of Jerusalem,
3 Mondd nekik: Így szól az Úr, Izrael Istene: Átkozott az az ember, aki nem hallgat e szövetség igéire,	3 saying to them: Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Cursed be the man who does not observe the terms of this covenant,
4 melyet atyáitoknak parancsoltam azon a napon, amelyen kihoztam őket Egyiptom földjéről, a vaskohóból, amikor ezt mondtam: Hallgassatok szavamra, és tegyétek meg mindazt, amit parancsolok nektek! Akkor az én népem lesztek, én pedig a ti Istenetek leszek,	4 which I enjoined upon your fathers the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that iron foundry, saying: Listen to my voice and do all that I command you. Then you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
5 hogy teljesítsem az esküt, melyet atyáitoknak esküdtem, hogy tejjel-mézzel folyó országot adok nekik, ahogy ez ma is van.« Feleltem és mondtam: »Ámen, Uram!«	5 Thus I will fulfill the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey: the one you have today. "Amen, LORD," I answered.
6 Majd ezt mondta nekem az Úr: »Kiáltsd mindezeket az igéket Júda városaiban és Jeruzsálem utcáin, s mondd: Halljátok e szövetség igéit, és tegyétek meg azokat!	6 Then the LORD said to me: Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: Hear the words of this covenant and obey them.
7 Mert óva intettem atyáitokat azon a napon, amelyen felhoztam őket Egyiptom földjéről, és mind a mai napig, idejekorán intettem őket, s mondtam: Hallgassatok szavamra!	7 Urgently and constantly I warned your fathers to obey my voice, from the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt even to this day.
8 De nem hallgatták meg, és nem hajtották ide fülüket, hanem mindenki a maga gonosz szívének megátalkodottsága szerint járt. Ezért elhoztam rájuk e szövetség minden igéjét, melyet azért parancsoltam, hogy megtegyék, de nem tették meg.«	8 But they did not listen or give ear. Each one followed the hardness of his evil heart, till I brought upon them all the threats of this covenant which they had failed to observe as I commanded them.
9 Majd ezt mondta nekem az Úr: »Összeesküvés van Júda férfiai és Jeruzsálem lakói között.	9 A conspiracy has been found, the LORD said to me, among the men of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem.
10 Visszatértek atyáik korábbi bűneihez, akik vonakodtak meghallgatni igéimet; ők is más istenek után mentek, hogy azoknak szolgáljanak. Izrael háza és Júda háza felbontotta szövetségemet, melyet atyáikkal kötöttem.	10 They have returned to the crimes of their forefathers who refused to obey my words. They also have followed and served strange gods; the covenant which I had made with their fathers, the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken.
11 Ezért így szól az Úr: Íme, én olyan bajt hozok rájuk, amelyből nem tudnak kijönni. Kiáltanak majd hozzám, de nem hallgatom meg őket.	11 Therefore, thus says the LORD: See, I bring upon them misfortune which they cannot escape. Though they cry out to me, I will not listen to them.
12 Menjenek csak Júda városai és Jeruzsálem lakói, és kiáltsanak azokhoz az istenekhez, akiknek tömjént áldoznak! De azok nem tudják őket megszabadítani bajuk idején.	12 Then the cities of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to which they have been offering incense. But these gods will give them no help whatever when misfortune strikes.
13 Mert amennyi városaid száma, annyi lett az istened, Júda! És amennyi Jeruzsálem utcáinak száma, annyi oltárt állítottatok a gyalázatos bálványnak, oltárokat, hogy tömjént áldozzatok Baálnak.	13 For as numerous as your cities are your gods, O Judah! And as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars for offering sacrifice to Baal.
14 Te pedig ne imádkozz ezért a népért, és ne mondj értük esdeklő imádságot! Mert nem hallgatom meg, amikor hozzám kiáltanak bajuk miatt.	14 Do not intercede on behalf of this people, nor utter a plea for them. I will not listen when they call to me at the time of their misfortune.
15 Mit akar kedvesem a házamban? Végbevinni az álnok tervet? Talán a fogadalmak és a szent hús eltávolítják tőled gonoszságodat, hogy akkor majd ujjonghass?«	15 What right has my beloved in my house, while she prepares her plots? Can vows and sacred meat turn away your misfortune from you? Will you still be jubilant
16 Zöldellő, szép, formás gyümölcsű olajfának hívta nevedet az Úr. Nagy, zúgó hanggal tüzet gyújtott rajta, és összetörtek ágai.	16 when you hear the great invasion? A spreading olive tree, goodly to behold, the LORD has named you; Now he sets fire to it, its branches burn.
17 A Seregek Ura, aki ültetett téged, bajt mondott ki rád Izrael házának és Júda házának gonoszsága miatt, melyet elkövettek a maguk kárára, hogy bosszantsanak engem, tömjént áldozva Baálnak.	17 The LORD of hosts who planted you has decreed misfortune for you because of the evil done by the house of Israel and by the house of Judah, who provoked me by sacrificing to Baal.
18 Az Úr tudatta velem, és megtudtam. Akkor megmutattad nekem tetteiket.	18 I knew it because the LORD informed me; at that time you, O LORD, showed me their doings.
19 Én pedig olyan vagyok, mint egy kezes bárány, melyet levágni visznek; és nem tudtam, hogy ilyen terveket szőttek ellenem: »Pusztítsuk el a fát gyümölcsével együtt, és vágjuk ki az élők földjéből, hogy nevére se emlékezzenek többé!«
20 Seregek Ura, igazságos bíró, vesék és szívek vizsgálója, hadd lássam bosszúdat rajtuk, mert eléd tártam ügyemet!
21 Ezért így szól az Úr Anatót férfiairól, akik életedre törnek, és azt mondják: »Ne prófétálj az Úr nevében, hogy meg ne halj kezünk által!«;
22 ezért így szól a Seregek Ura: »Íme, én meglátogatom őket: az ifjak kard által halnak meg, fiaik és leányaik éhen halnak.
23 És maradékuk nem lesz, mert bajt hozok Anatót férfiaira: látogatásuk esztendejét.«
