| 1 Visión que tuvo Isaías, hijo de Amós, acerca de Judá y de Jerusalén, en tiempos de Ozías, de Jotam, de Ajaz y de Ezequías, reyes de Judá. | 1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. |
| 2 ¡Escuchen, cielos! ¡Presta oído, tierra! porque habla el Señor: Yo crié hijos y los hice crecer, pero ellos se rebelaron contra mí. | 2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for the LORD has spoken: "Sons have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me. |
| 3 El buey conoce a su amo y el asno, el pesebre de su dueño; ¡pero Israel no conoce, mi pueblo no tiene entendimiento! | 3 The ox knows its owner, and the ass its master's crib; but Israel does not know, my people does not understand." |
| 4 ¡Ay, nación pecadora, pueblo cargado de iniquidad, raza de malhechores, hijos pervertidos! ¡Han abandonado al Señor, han despreciado al Santo de Israel, se han vuelto atrás! | 4 Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged. |
| 5 ¿Dónde pueden ser golpeados todavía, ustedes, que persisten en la rebelión? Toda la cabeza está enferma y todo el corazón dolorido; | 5 Why will you still be smitten, that you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. |
| 6 de la planta de los pies a la cabeza, no hay nada intacto: ¡heridas, contusiones, llagas vivas, que no han sido curadas ni vendadas, ni aliviadas con aceite! | 6 From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and bleeding wounds; they are not pressed out, or bound up, or softened with oil. |
| 7 Su país es una desolación, sus ciudades, presa del fuego; su suelo, delante de ustedes, lo devoran extranjeros; ¡hay tanta desolación como en el desastre de Sodoma! | 7 Your country lies desolate, your cities are burned with fire; in your very presence aliens devour your land; it is desolate, as overthrown by aliens. |
| 8 La hija de Sión ha quedado como una choza en un viñedo, como una cabaña en una plantación de pepinos, como una ciudad sitiada. | 8 And the daughter of Zion is left like a booth in a vineyard, like a lodge in a cucumber field, like a besieged city. |
| 9 ¡Si el Señor de los ejércitos no nos hubiera dejado algunos sobrevivientes, seríamos como Sodoma, nos pareceríamos a Gomorra! | 9 If the LORD of hosts had not left us a few survivors, we should have been like Sodom, and become like Gomorrah. |
| 10 ¡Escuchen la palabra del Señor, jefes de Sodoma! ¡Presten atención a la instrucción de nuestro Dios pueblo de Gomorra! | 10 Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah! |
| 11 ¿Qué me importa la multitud de sus sacrificios? –dice el Señor– Estoy harto de holocaustos de cameros y de la grasa de animales cebados; no quiero más sangre de toros, corderos y chivos. | 11 "What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the LORD; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of he-goats. |
| 12 Cuando ustedes vienen a ver mi rostro, ¿quién les ha pedido que pisen mis atrios? | 12 "When you come to appear before me, who requires of you this trampling of my courts? |
| 13 No me sigan trayendo vanas ofrendas; el incienso es para mí una abominación. Luna nueva, sábado, convocación a la asamblea... ¡no puedo aguantar la falsedad y la fiesta! | 13 Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and sabbath and the calling of assemblies-- I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. |
| 14 Sus lunas nuevas y solemnidades las detesto con toda mi alma; se han vuelto para mí una carga que estoy cansado de soportar. | 14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me, I am weary of bearing them. |
| 15 Cuando extienden sus manos. yo cierro los ojos; por más que multipliquen las plegarias, yo no escucho: ¡las manos de ustedes están llenas de sangre! | 15 When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood. |
| 16 ¡Lávense, purifíquense, aparten de mi vista la maldad de sus acciones! ¡Cesen de hacer el mal, | 16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil, |
| 17 aprendan a hacer el bien! ¡Busquen el derecho, socorran al oprimido, hagan justicia al huérfano, defiendan a la viuda! | 17 learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. |
| 18 Vengan, y discutamos –dice el Señor– Aunque sus pecados sean como la escarlata, se volverán blancos como la nieve; aunque sean rojos como la púrpura, serán como la lana. | 18 "Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. |
| 19 Si están dispuestos a escuchar, comerán los bienes del país; | 19 If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; |
| 20 pero si rehúsan hacerlo y se rebelan, serán devorados por la espada, porque ha hablado la boca del Señor. | 20 But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken." |
| 21 ¡Cómo se ha prostituido la ciudad fiel! Estaba llena de equidad, la justicia moraba en ella, ¡y ahora no hay más que asesinos! | 21 How the faithful city has become a harlot, she that was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. |
| 22 Tu plata se ha vuelto escoria, se ha aguado tu mejor vino. | 22 Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water. |
| 23 Tus príncipes son rebeldes y cómplices de ladrones; todos aman el soborno y corren detrás de los regalos; no hacen justicia al huérfano ni llega hasta ellos la causa de la viuda. | 23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Every one loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not defend the fatherless, and the widow's cause does not come to them. |
| 24 Por eso –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos, el Fuerte de Israel–; ¡Ay! ¡Me desquitaré de mis adversarios y me vengaré de mis enemigos! | 24 Therefore the Lord says, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: "Ah, I will vent my wrath on my enemies, and avenge myself on my foes. |
| 25 Volveré mi mano contra ti, depuraré tu escoria con potasa y eliminaré todos tus desechos. | 25 I will turn my hand against you and will smelt away your dross as with lye and remove all your alloy. |
| 26 Haré a tus jueves como eran antes y a tus consejeros, como el principio. Después de esto, te llamarán «Ciudad de la Justicia», «Ciudad Fiel». | 26 And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city." |
| 27 Sión será rescatada por el derecho y los que se conviertan, por la justicia. | 27 Zion shall be redeemed by justice, and those in her who repent, by righteousness. |
| 28 Los rebeldes y pecadores serán destrozados juntamente y desaparecerán los que abandonan al Señor. | 28 But rebels and sinners shall be destroyed together, and those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed. |
| 29 Ustedes se avergonzarán de las encinas que tanto amaban. se sonrojarán de los jardines que eligieron; | 29 For you shall be ashamed of the oaks in which you delighted; and you shall blush for the gardens which you have chosen. |
| 30 porque serán como una encina de hojas secas, como un jardín sin agua. | 30 For you shall be like an oak whose leaf withers, and like a garden without water. |
| 31 El hombre fuerte se convertirá en estopa y su obra será la chispa: arderán los dos juntos y no habrá quien extinga el fuego. | 31 And the strong shall become tow, and his work a spark, and both of them shall burn together, with none to quench them. |
