Habacuc 2

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En mi puesto de guardia me pondré, me plantaré en mi muro, y otearé para ver lo que él me dice, lo que responde a mi querella.	1 I shal stand at my post, I shall station myself on my watch-tower, watching to see what he wil say tome, what answer he wil make to my complaints.
2 Y me respondió Yahveh y dijo: «Escribe la visión, ponla clara en tablillas para que se pueda leer de corrido.	2 Then Yahweh answered me and said, 'Write the vision down, inscribe it on tablets to be easily read.
3 Porque es aún visión para su fecha, aspira ella al fin y no defrauda; si se tarda, espérala, pues vendrá ciertamente, sin retraso.	3 For the vision is for its appointed time, it hastens towards its end and it wil not lie; although it may takesome time, wait for it, for come it certainly will before too long.
4 «He aquí que sucumbe quien no tiene el alma recta, más el justo por su fidelidad vivirá».	4 'You see, anyone whose heart is not upright wil succumb, but the upright wil live through faithfulness.'
5 ¡Oh, ciertamente es traidora la riqueza! ¡Es hombre fatuo y no tendrá éxito el que ensancha como el seol sus fauces; como la muerte, él nunca se sacia, reúne para sí todas las naciones, acapara para sí los pueblos todos!	5 Now, surely, wealth is treacherous! He is arrogant, for ever on the move, with appetite as large asSheol and as insatiable as Death, gathering in al the nations, and making a harvest of al peoples.
6 ¿No profetizarán todos éstos sobre él una sátira, adivinanzas y enigmas sobre él? Dirán: ¡Ay de quien amontona lo que no es suyo (¿hasta cuándo?) y se carga de prendas empeñadas!	6 Are not the peoples al bound to satirise and make up cryptic riddles about him? As for instance:Disaster to anyone who amasses goods not his (for how long?) and to anyone who weighs himself down withgoods taken in pledge!
7 ¿No se alzarán de repente tus acreedores, no se despertarán tus vejadores, y serás presa de ellos?	7 Wil not your creditors suddenly stand up, wil not those who make you shiver wake up, and you wil fala prey to them?
8 Por haber saqueado a naciones numerosas, te saqueará a ti todo el resto de los pueblos, por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan.	8 Since you have plundered many nations, al the nations that remain wil plunder you, because of thebloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to all who live in it.
9 ¡Ay de quien gana ganancia inmoral para su casa, para poner su nido en alto y escapar a la garra del mal!	9 Disaster to anyone who amasses ill-gotten gains for his house, so as to fix his nest on high and soevade the reach of misfortune!
10 ¡Vergüenza para tu casa has sentenciado: al derribar a muchos pueblos, contra ti mismo pecas!	10 You have conspired to bring shame on your house: by overthrowing many peoples you have workedyour own ruin.
11 Porque la piedra grita desde el muro, y la viga desde el maderamen le responde.	11 For the very stone will protest from the wal , and the beam wil respond from the framework.
12 ¡Ay de quien edifica una ciudad con sangre, y funda un pueblo en la injusticia!	12 Disaster to anyone who builds a town with bloodshed and founds a city on wrong-doing!
13 ¿No viene de Yahveh Sebaot que los pueblos se fatiguen para el fuego y las gentes se agoten para nada?	13 Is it not thanks to Yahweh Sabaoth that the peoples' toil is fuel for the fire, and the nations' labourcame to nothing?
14 ¡Pues la tierra se llenará del conocimiento de la gloria de Yahveh, como las aguas cubren el mar!	14 But the earth wil be full of the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh as the waters cover the depths of thesea.
15 ¡Ay del que da de beber a sus vecinos, y les añade su veneno hasta embriagarlos, para mirar su desnudez!	15 Disaster to anyone who makes his neighbours drink, pouring out his poison until they are drunk, sothat he can see them naked!
16 ¡Te has saciado de ignominia, no de gloria! ¡Bebe tú también y enseña tu prepucio! ¡A ti se vuelve el cáliz de la diestra de Yahveh, y la ignominia sobre tu gloria!	16 You are ful of shame, not glory! Your turn now to drink and show your foreskin. The cup in Yahweh'sright hand comes round to you, and disgrace wil overshadow your glory.
17 Pues la violencia hecha al Líbano te cubrirá y la matanza de los animales te aterrará, (por la sangre del hombre y la violencia a la tierra, a la ciudad y a todos los que la habitan).	17 For the violence done to the Lebanon wil overwhelm you and the massacre of animals will terrify you,because of the bloodshed and violence done to the country, to the city and to al who live in it. Disaster toanyone who says to the log, 'Wake up!', to the dumb stone, 'On your feet!' (This is the prophecy!) Look, he isencased in gold and silver, -but not a breath of life inside it!
18 ¿De qué sirve una escultura para que su autor la esculpa, una imagen fundida, un oráculo engañoso, para que en ellos confíe el autor de tal obra haciendo ídolos mudos?	18 What use is a sculpted image that a sculptor should make it? - a metal image, a lying instructor! Andwhy does the image-maker put his trust in it, that he should make dumb idols?
19 ¡Ay de quien dice al madero: «Despierta», «Levántate», a la piedra muda! ¿Da ello algún oráculo? ¡Está, sí, cubierto de oro y plata, pero ni un soplo en su interior!	19
20 Mas Yahveh está en su santo Templo: ¡silencio ante él, tierra entera!	20 But Yahweh is in his holy Temple: let the whole earth be silent before him.
