Deuteronomy 24

NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 'Suppose a man has taken a wife and consummated the marriage; but she has not pleased him andhe has found some impropriety of which to accuse her; he has therefore made out a writ of divorce for her andhanded it to her and then dismissed her from his house;	1 «Як чоловік візьме жінку й ожениться з нею, а вона не знайде милости в його очах, бо він помітив би в неї щонебудь негоже, то напише їй розвідний лист і, вручивши їй, відпустить зо свого дому;
2 she leaves his home and goes away to become the wife of another man.	2 вона ж, вийшовши з його дому, піде заміж за іншого,
3 Then suppose this second man who has married her takes a dislike to her and makes out a writ ofdivorce for her and hands it to her and dismisses her from his house or if this other man who took her as his wifedies,	3 а цей другий — якщо теж зненавидить її, — то, написавши розвідний лист, оддасть їй у руки й вишле її з дому; або коли вмре цей другий чоловік, який узяв її за жінку,
4 her first husband, who has repudiated her, may not take her back as his wife now that she has beenmade unclean in this way. For that is detestable in Yahweh's eyes and you must not bring guilt on the countrywhich Yahweh your God is giving you as your heritage.	4 то не можна першому її чоловікові, що був відпустив її, знову брати її собі за жінку після того, як вона опоганилась; бо це гидота перед Господом, Богом твоїм, і ти не будеш допускати гріха на землю, яку Господь хоче тобі дати в посідання.
5 'If a man is newly married, he must not join the army, nor must he be pestered at home; he must beleft at home, free of al obligations for one year, to make his new wife happy.	5 Коли чоловік узяв щойно жінку, не годиться йому йти на війну, ані не можна накладати на нього якогось громадського відробітку; вільний від усього він зостанеться цілий рік у себе вдома, щоб веселитися з жінкою, що її взяв.
6 'No one may take a mil or a mil stone in pledge; that would be to take life itself in pledge.	6 Не можна брати в заставу жорен або жорновий камінь, бо тим заставляється життя.
7 'If anyone is caught, having kidnapped one of his brother-Israelites, whether he makes him his slaveor sel s him, that thief must die. You must banish this evil from among you.	7 Коли виявиться, що хтось полонив одного з своїх братів, зо синів Ізраїля, і поводився з ним як з рабом або продав його, то тому, хто полонив, — смерть. Так викорінюватимеш зло з-посеред себе.
8 'In a case of a virulent skin-disease, take care you faithful y observe and exactly carry out everythingthat the levitical priests direct you to do. You must keep and observe everything that I have commanded them.	8 А як вибухне проказа, зважай добре, щоб ти пильно виконував усе, чого навчатимуть вас священики-левіти; як я це заповідав їм, так і старатиметесь виконувати.
9 Remember what Yahweh your God did to Miriam when you were on your way out of Egypt.	9 Пам’ятай, що вчинив Господь, Бог твій, у дорозі, після вашого виходу з Єгипту.
10 'If you are making your brother a loan on pledge, you must not go into his house and seize thepledge, whatever it may be.	10 Як позичаєш щонебудь твоєму ближньому, не заходь до нього в хату, щоб узяти заставу.
11 You must stay outside, and the man to whom you are making the loan must bring the pledge out toyou.	11 Стій знадвору, а той, кому позичаєш, винесе тобі заставу надвір.
12 And if the man is poor, you must not go to bed with his pledge in your possession;	12 Коли ж він убогий чоловік, то не підеш спати, взявши до себе його заставу.
13 you must return it to him at sunset so that he can sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it wil be anupright action on your part in God's view.	13 Мусиш неодмінно звернути йому заставу при заході сонця, щоб він міг лягти спати у своїй одежині й поблагословив би тебе, й тоді буде тобі заслуга перед Господом, Богом твоїм.
14 'You must not exploit a poor and needy wage-earner, be he one of your brothers or a foreignerresident in your community.	14 Не утискатимеш убогого й нужденного поденника, чи то він із твоїх братів-одноплемінників, чи з приходнів, які перебувають у твоїй землі, у твоїх містах.
15 You must pay him his wages each day, not al owing the sun to set before you do, since he, beingpoor, needs them badly; otherwise he may appeal to Yahweh against you, and you would incur guilt.	15 Того ж самого дня виплатиш його заробіток, ще перед заходом сонця; бо він убогий, і всією душею чекає виплати; тож не закликатиме проти тебе Господа, та й ти не матимеш гріха.
16 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children for parents, but each must be put todeath for his own crime.	16 Не можна карати смертю батьків за дітей, ані дітей за батьків. Кожний буде скараний за свій гріх.
17 'You must not infringe the rights of the foreigner or the orphan; you must not take a widow's clothesin pledge.	17 Не кривосудь приходня й сироту та не бери вдовичої одежі в заставу;
18 Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt and that Yahweh your God redeemed you from that.That is why I am giving you this order.	18 пам’ятай, що ти був рабом у Єгипті і що Господь, Бог твій, визволив тебе звідти; тим і наказую тобі так чинити.
19 'If, when reaping the harvest in your field, you overlook a sheaf in that field, do not go back for it. Theforeigner, the orphan and the widow shal have it, so that Yahweh your God may bless you in al yourundertakings.	19 Як збиратимеш жниво з твого поля і як забудеш сніп на полі, не повертайся за ним: нехай буде для приходня, для сироти й для вдовиці, щоб Господь, Бог твій, поблагословив тебе в усякім ділі твоїх рук.
20 'When you beat your olive tree, you must not go over the branches twice. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	20 А коли оббиватимеш маслину, не будеш придивлятися ще раз до гілля: нехай буде для приходня, для сироти й для вдовиці.
21 'When you harvest your vineyard, you must not pick it over a second time. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	21 Як збиратимеш виноград у себе в винограднику, не підеш потім оглядати грона: нехай вони зостануться для приходня, для сироти й для вдови;
22 'Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt. That is why I am giving you this order.'	22 пам’ятай, що ти був рабом у Єгипетській землі; тож і наказую тобі так чинити.»
