NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 Now after Joshua's death, the Israelites consulted Yahweh, asking, 'Which of us is to march on theCanaanites first, to make war on them?'	1 По смерті Ісуса сини Ізраїля спитали в Господа: «Хто з нас має виступати першим проти ханаанян, щоб воювати з ними?»
2 And Yahweh replied, 'Judah is to march on them first; I am delivering the country into his hands.'	2 І сказав Господь: «Юда нехай виступає. Ось я віддаю край йому в руки.»
3 Judah then said to his brother Simeon, 'March with me into the territory al otted to me; we shall makewar on the Canaanites, and then I in my turn shal march into your territory with you.' And Simeon marched withhim.	3 Юда й сказав своєму братові Симеонові: «Йди зо мною в мою частку, й будемо воювати з ханаанянами; а потім піду й я з тобою в твою частку.» І пішов Симеон разом з ним.
4 So Judah marched on them, and Yahweh delivered the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands, andthey defeated them at Bezek-ten thousand of them!	4 Виступив Юда, і віддав Господь ханаанян та перізіїв йому на поталу, і розбили вони з них під Безеком десять тисяч чоловік.
5 At Bezek they came upon Adoni-Bezek; they joined battle with him and defeated the Canaanites andPerizzites.	5 Біля Безеку зіткнулись вони з Адонівезеком, вдарили на нього й розбили ханаанян та перізіїв.
6 Adoni-Bezek took to flight, but they chased and captured him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.	6 Адонівезек утік, та вони кинулися за ним, схопили його й повтинали йому на руках і на ногах великі пальці.
7 Adoni-Bezek said, 'Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to pick up the crumbsunder my table. As I did, God does to me.' He was taken to Jerusalem, and there he died.	7 Сказав тоді Адонівезек: «Сімдесят царів з повідтинаними пальцями на руках і ногах збирали кришки під столом у мене. Як я вчинив, так Господь відплатив мені!» І привели вони його в Єрусалим, де він і вмер.
8 (The sons of Judah attacked Jerusalem and took it: they put its people to the sword and set fire to thecity.)	8 І вдарили сини Юди на Єрусалим, опанували його, винищили лезом меча, а місто спалили.
9 After this the sons of Judah went down to make war on the Canaanites who were living in the highlands,the Negeb and the lowlands.	9 Потім сини Юди спустились, щоб воювати з ханаанянами, що жили в горах, на півдні, та по узгір’ях.
10 Judah next marched on the Canaanites living in Hebron -- the name of Hebron in olden days wasKiriath-Arba -- and beat Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.	10 Далі виступив Юда проти ханаанян, що жили в Хевроні, — Хеврон же звавсь раніше Кіріят-Арба, — і розбили Шешая, Ахімана й Талмая.
11 From there, he marched on the inhabitants of Debir -- the name of Debir in olden days was Kiriath-Sepher.	11 А звідтіля пішов на мешканців Девіру, що звався колись Кіріят-Сефер.
12 Caleb said, 'To the man who conquers and captures Kiriath-Sepher, I shal give my daughter Achsahas wife.'	12 І обіцяв тоді Калев: «Хто нападе на Кіріят-Сефер і візьме його, за того віддам дочку мою Ахсу.»
13 The man who captured it was Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, who gave him hisdaughter Achsah as wife.	13 І взяв його Отнієл, син Кеназа, меншого Калевового брата, і віддав він за нього дочку свою Ахсу.
14 When she arrived, he urged her to ask her father for arable land, but when she alighted from thedonkey and Caleb asked her, 'What is the matter?'	14 А коли вона прибула, він підмовив її просити в батька поле; і як зіскочила з осла, Калев спитав її; «Що тобі?»
15 she said to him, 'Grant me a blessing! As the land you have given me is the Negeb, give me springs ofwater, too!' So Caleb gave her what she wanted: the upper springs and the lower springs.	15 А та до нього: «Дай мені, — каже, — благословення: дав бо єси мені суху землю, дай мені і джерела вод! І дав він їй горішні й долішні джерела.
16 The sons of Hobab the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, marched up with the sons of Judah from theCity of Palm Trees into the desert of Judah lying in the Negeb of Arad, where they went and settled among thepeople.	16 Сини кенія Ховава, Мойсеєвого тестя, з Пальмового міста, повиходили разом із синами Юди в пустиню Юди, що на південь від Араду; пішли вони й оселились з амалекитянами.
17 Judah then set out with his brother Simeon. They beat the Canaanites who lived in Zephath anddelivered it over to the curse of destruction; hence the town was given the name of Hormah.	17 Згодом двигнувся Юда з братом Симеоном, і розбили вони ханаанян, що жили в Цефаті, і цілком знищили його, тим і прозвано те місто Хорма.
18 Judah then captured Gaza and its territory, Ashkelon and its territory, Ekron and its territory.AndYahweh was with Judah, who made himself master of the highlands;	18 Далі завоював Юда Газу з її околицею, Аскалон з околицею й Екрон з околицею.
19 he could not, however, dispossess the inhabitants of the plain, since they had iron chariots.	19 Господь був з Юдою, так що він посів гори. Подолян же не здолав прогнати, бо в них були залізні колісниці.
20 As Moses had directed, Hebron was given to Caleb, and he drove the three sons of Anak out of it.	20 І дали вони Калевові Хеврон, як заповідав Мойсей, і повиганяв він звідтіль трьох синів Анака.
21 As regards the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, the sons of Benjamin did not dispossess them, and theJebusites have been living in Jerusalem with the sons of Benjamin ever since.	21 Євусіїв же, мешканців Єрусалиму, не повиганяли сини Веніямина, так що живуть євусії в Єрусалимі з синами Веніямина по цей день.
22 Similarly, the House of Joseph marched on Bethel, and Yahweh was with them.	22 Дім Йосифа виступив і собі проти Бетела, і Господь був з ними;
23 The House of Joseph made a reconnaissance of Bethel. (In olden days, the name of the town wasLuz.)	23 бо як вони розглядали Бетел, що звався перше Луз,
24 The scouts saw a man coming out of the town and said to him, 'Show us how to get into the town andwe shal show you faithful love.'	24 побачили розглядачі чоловіка, що виходив з міста, і сказали йому „Покажи нам, де можна вломитись у місто, й ми тебе помилуємо.“
25 And when he had shown them a way into the town, they put the town to the sword but let the man andhis whole clan go.	25 І він показав їм вхід до міста, й вони побили його вістрям меча, чоловіка ж того й усю родину відпустили.
26 The man went off to the country of the Hittites and built a town which he called Luz; and that has been its name ever since.	26 Пішов той чоловік у хеттитську землю, збудував місто й назвав його Луз. Так зветься воно й по цей день.
27 Manasseh did not dispossess Beth-Shean and its dependencies, nor Taanach and its dependencies,nor the inhabitants of Dor and its dependencies, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its dependencies, nor theinhabitants of Megiddo and its dependencies; in those parts the Canaanites held their ground.	27 Манассія не прогнав мешканців Бетшеану з його присілками, ані мешканців Танаху з його присілками, ані мешканців Дору з його присілками, ані мешканців Ївлеаму з його присілками, ані мешканців Мегіддо з його присілками. І зостались ханааняни вперто жити в цій країні.
28 But when the Israelites became stronger, they subjected the Canaanites to forced labour, althoughthey did not dispossess them.	28 Як же Ізраїль вбився в потугу, зробив він їх рабами, повиганяти ж їх — не повиганяв він.
29 Nor did Ephraim dispossess the Canaanites living in Gezer; thus, the Canaanites went on living inGezer with him.	29 Та й Ефраїм теж не повиганяв ханаанян, що жили в Гезері, так і зостались ханааняни жити в Гезері.
30 Zebulun did not dispossess the inhabitants of Kitron or of Nahalol. The Canaanites lived on withZebulun but were subjected to forced labour.	30 Завулон не повиганяв мешканців Кітрону і Нагалолу. Так і жили ханааняни поміж ними, але були їхніми рабами.
31 Asher did not dispossess the inhabitants of Acco, nor those of Sidon, of Mahalab, of Achzib, of Helbah,of Aphek or of Rehob.	31 Ашер не повиганяв мешканців Акко й мешканців Сидону, Хелеву, Ахзіву, Хелви, Афеку і Рехову,
32 So the Asherites lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the country, not having dispossessed them.	32 і жили ашерії серед ханаанян, мешканців краю, бо вони їх не повиганяли.
33 Naphtali did not dispossess the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh or of Beth-Anath; they settled among theCanaanite inhabitants of the country, but the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath were subjected toforced labour for them.	33 Нафталі не повиганяв мешканців Бетшемешу і Бет-Анату, і жив серед ханаанян, що перебували в цій країні, але мешканці Бетшемешу і Бет-Анату стали їхніми рабами.
34 The Amorites drove the Danites back into the highlands and would not let them come down into theplain.	34 Аморії ж відкинули даніїв у гори й не давали їм спускатись у долину.
35 The Amorites held their ground at Har -- Heres and Shaalbim, but when the hand of the House ofJoseph grew heavier, they were subjected to forced labour. (	35 І жили аморії й далі в Гархересі, в Аялоні й у Шаалвімі. Як же почав дім Йосифа брати над ними гору, вони стали їхніми кріпаками.
36 The territory of the Edomites begins at the Ascent of Scorpions, runs to the Rock and continues onupwards.)	36 Границя ж аморіїв ішла від узвозу Акраббім і від Селі далі вгору.
