Jeremiah 25

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).	1 Questa parola fu rivolta a Geremia per tutto il popolo di Giuda nel quarto anno di Ioiakìm figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda - cioè nel primo anno di Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia -.
2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 Il profeta Geremia l'annunciò a tutto il popolo di Giuda e a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme dicendo:
3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.	3 "Dall'anno decimoterzo di Giosia figlio di Amòn, re di Giuda, fino ad oggi sono ventitré anni che mi è stata rivolta la parola del Signore e io ho parlato a voi premurosamente e continuamente, ma voi non avete ascoltato.
4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).	4 Il Signore vi ha inviato con assidua premura tutti i suoi servi, i profeti, ma voi non avete ascoltato e non avete prestato orecchio per ascoltare
5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.	5 quando vi diceva: Ognuno abbandoni la sua condotta perversa e le sue opere malvage; allora potrete abitare nel paese che il Signore ha dato a voi e ai vostri padri dai tempi antichi e per sempre.
6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)	6 Non seguite altri dèi per servirli e adorarli e non provocatemi con le opere delle vostre mani e io non vi farò del male.
7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."	7 Ma voi non mi avete ascoltato - dice il Signore - e mi avete provocato con l'opera delle vostre mani per vostra disgrazia.
8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,	8 Per questo dice il Signore degli eserciti: Poiché non avete ascoltato le mie parole,
9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.	9 ecco manderò a prendere tutte le tribù del settentrione, le manderò contro questo paese, contro i suoi abitanti e contro tutte le nazioni confinanti, voterò costoro allo sterminio e li ridurrò a oggetto di orrore, a scherno e a obbrobrio perenne.
10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;	10 Farò cessare in mezzo a loro le grida di gioia e le voci di allegria, la voce dello sposo e quella della sposa, il rumore della mola e il lume della lampada.
11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.	11 Tutta questa regione sarà abbandonata alla distruzione e alla desolazione e queste genti resteranno schiave del re di Babilonia per settanta anni.
12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),	12 Quando saranno compiuti i settanta anni, io punirò il re di Babilonia e quel popolo - dice il Signore - per i loro delitti, punirò il paese dei Caldei e lo ridurrò a una desolazione perenne.
13 and against that country I shal perform al the words with which I have threatened it, that is,everything written in this book." '	13 Manderò dunque a effetto su questo paese tutte le parole che ho pronunziate a suo riguardo, quanto è scritto in questo libro, ciò che Geremia aveva predetto contro tutte le nazioni.
14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')	14 Nazioni numerose e re potenti ridurranno in schiavitù anche costoro, e così li ripagherò secondo le loro azioni, secondo le opere delle loro mani".
15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;	15 Così mi disse il Signore, Dio di Israele: "Prendi dalla mia mano questa coppa di vino della mia ira e falla bere a tutte le nazioni alle quali ti invio,
16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'	16 perché ne bevano, ne restino inebriate ed escano di senno dinanzi alla spada che manderò in mezzo a loro".
17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it	17 Presi dunque la coppa dalle mani del Signore e la diedi a bere a tutte le nazioni alle quali il Signore mi aveva inviato:
18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):	18 a Gerusalemme e alle città di Giuda, ai suoi re e ai suoi capi, per abbandonarli alla distruzione, alla desolazione, all'obbrobrio e alla maledizione, come avviene ancor oggi;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,	19 anche al faraone re d'Egitto, ai suoi ministri, ai suoi nobili e a tutto il suo popolo;
20 with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (al the kings of the country of Uz); al the kings of thecountry of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is stil left of Ashdod;	20 alla gente d'ogni razza e a tutti i re del paese di Uz, a tutti i re del paese dei Filistei, ad Ascalòn, a Gaza, a Ekròn e ai superstiti di Asdòd,
21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;	21 a Edom, a Moab e agli Ammoniti,
22 (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;	22 a tutti i re di Tiro e a tutti i re di Sidòne e ai re dell'isola che è al di là del mare,
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, al the people with shaven temples;	23 a Dedan, a Tema, a Buz e a quanti si radono l'estremità delle tempie,
24 al the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert	24 a tutti i re degli Arabi che abitano nel deserto,
25 (all the kings of Zimri), all the kings of Elam, and al the kings of Media;	25 a tutti i re di Zimrì, a tutti i re dell'Elam e a tutti i re della Media,
26 al the kings of the north, near and far, one after another: in short, all the kingdoms on the face of theearth. (As for the king of Sheshak, he wil drink last of all.)	26 a tutti i re del settentrione, vicini e lontani, agli uni e agli altri e a tutti i regni che sono sulla terra; il re di Sesàch berrà dopo di essi.
27 'You wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall,never to rise again, before the sword that I am sending among you!"	27 "Tu riferirai loro: Dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: Bevete e inebriatevi, vomitate e cadete senza rialzarvi davanti alla spada che io mando in mezzo a voi.
28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!	28 Se poi rifiuteranno di prendere dalla tua mano il calice da bere, tu dirai loro: Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Certamente berrete!
29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."	29 Se io comincio a castigare proprio la città che porta il mio nome, pretendete voi di rimanere impuniti? No, impuniti non resterete, perché io chiamerò la spada su tutti gli abitanti della terra. Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.
30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.	30 Tu preannunzierai tutte queste cose e dirai loro: Il Signore ruggisce dall'alto, dalla sua santa dimora fa udire il suo tuono; alza il suo ruggito contro la prateria, manda grida di giubilo come i pigiatori delle uve, contro tutti gli abitanti del paese.
31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.	31 Il rumore giunge fino all'estremità della terra, perché il Signore viene a giudizio con le nazioni; egli istruisce il giudizio riguardo a ogni uomo, abbandona gli empi alla spada. Parola del Signore.
32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.	32 Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco, la sventura passa di nazione in nazione, un grande turbine si alza dall'estremità della terra.
33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.	33 In quel giorno i colpiti dal Signore si troveranno da un'estremità all'altra della terra; non saranno pianti né raccolti né sepolti, ma saranno come letame sul suolo.
34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .	34 Urlate, pastori, gridate, rotolatevi nella polvere, capi del gregge! Perché sono compiuti i giorni per il vostro macello; stramazzerete come scelti montoni.
35 No refuge then for the shepherds, no escape for the lords of the flock!	35 Non ci sarà rifugio per i pastori né scampo per i capi del gregge.
36 Listen! A shriek from the shepherds, a howl from the lords of the flock! For Yahweh has laid theirpasture waste,	36 Sentite le grida dei pastori, gli urli delle guide del gregge, perché il Signore distrugge il loro pascolo;
37 the peaceful sheepfolds are reduced to silence owing to Yahweh's furious anger.	37 sono devastati i prati tranquilli a causa dell'ardente ira del Signore.
38 The lion has left his lair and their country is a wasteland now, owing to the devastating fury, owing tohis furious anger." '	38 Il leone abbandona la sua tana, poiché il loro paese è una desolazione a causa della spada devastatrice e a causa della sua ira ardente".
