Psalms 106

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!	1 Alleluia. Celebrate il Signore, perché è buono, perché eterna è la sua misericordia.
2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?	2 Chi può narrare i prodigi del Signore, far risuonare tutta la sua lode?
3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!	3 Beati coloro che agiscono con giustizia e praticano il diritto in ogni tempo.
4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,	4 Ricordati di noi, Signore, per amore del tuo popolo, visitaci con la tua salvezza,
5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.	5 perché vediamo la felicità dei tuoi eletti, godiamo della gioia del tuo popolo, ci gloriamo con la tua eredità.
6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;	6 Abbiamo peccato come i nostri padri, abbiamo fatto il male, siamo stati empi.
7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;	7 I nostri padri in Egitto non compresero i tuoi prodigi, non ricordarono tanti tuoi benefici e si ribellarono presso il mare, presso il mar Rosso.
8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.	8 Ma Dio li salvò per il suo nome, per manifestare la sua potenza.
9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,	9 Minacciò il mar Rosso e fu disseccato, li condusse tra i flutti come per un deserto;
10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.	10 li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava, li riscattò dalla mano del nemico.
11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.	11 L'acqua sommerse i loro avversari; nessuno di essi sopravvisse.
12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.	12 Allora credettero alle sue parole e cantarono la sua lode.
13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;	13 Ma presto dimenticarono le sue opere, non ebbero fiducia nel suo disegno,

19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;	19 Si fabbricarono un vitello sull'Oreb, si prostrarono a un'immagine di metallo fuso;
20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.	20 scambiarono la loro gloria con la figura di un toro che mangia fieno.
21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,	21 Dimenticarono Dio che li aveva salvati, che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi,
22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.	22 prodigi nel paese di Cam, cose terribili presso il mar Rosso.
23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.	23 E aveva già deciso di sterminarli, se Mosè suo eletto non fosse stato sulla breccia di fronte a lui, per stornare la sua collera dallo sterminio.
24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;	24 Rifiutarono un paese di delizie, non credettero alla sua parola.
25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.	25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende, non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.
26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,	26 Egli alzò la mano su di loro giurando di abbatterli nel deserto,

30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;	30 Ma Finees si alzò e si fece giudice, allora cessò la peste
31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.	31 e gli fu computato a giustizia presso ogni generazione, sempre.
32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,	32 Lo irritarono anche alle acque di Meriba e Mosè fu punito per causa loro,
33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.	33 perché avevano inasprito l'animo suo ed egli disse parole insipienti.
34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,	34 Non sterminarono i popoli come aveva ordinato il Signore,
35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.	35 ma si mescolarono con le nazioni e impararono le opere loro.
36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,	36 Servirono i loro idoli e questi furono per loro un tranello.
37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.	37 Immolarono i loro figli e le loro figlie agli dèi falsi.
38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.	38 Versarono sangue innocente, il sangue dei figli e delle figlie sacrificati agli idoli di Canaan; la terra fu profanata dal sangue,
39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.	39 si contaminarono con le opere loro, si macchiarono con i loro misfatti.
40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.	40 L'ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popolo, ebbe in orrore il suo possesso;
41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;	41 e li diede in balìa dei popoli, li dominarono i loro avversari,
42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.	42 li oppressero i loro nemici e dovettero piegarsi sotto la loro mano.
43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;	43 Molte volte li aveva liberati; ma essi si ostinarono nei loro disegni e per le loro iniquità furono abbattuti.
44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.	44 Pure, egli guardò alla loro angoscia quando udì il loro grido.
45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;	45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza con loro, si mosse a pietà per il suo grande amore.
46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.	46 Fece loro trovare grazia presso quanti li avevano deportati.
47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.	47 Salvaci, Signore Dio nostro, e raccoglici di mezzo ai popoli, perché proclamiamo il tuo santo nome e ci gloriamo della tua lode.
48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.	48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d'Israele da sempre, per sempre. Tutto il popolo dica: Amen.
