1 David again mustered al the picked troops of Israel, thirty thousand men.	1 Davide radunò di nuovo tutti gli uomini migliori d'Israele, in numero di trentamila.
2 Setting off with the whole force then with him, David went to Baalah of Judah, from there to bring up theark of God, who bears the title 'Yahweh Sabaoth, enthroned on the winged creatures'.	2 Poi si alzò e partì con tutta la sua gente da Baalà di Giuda, per trasportare di là l'arca di Dio, sulla quale è invocato il nome, il nome del Signore degli eserciti, che siede in essa sui cherubini.
3 They transported the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of Abinadab's house which is on thehil . Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the cart,	3 Posero l'arca di Dio sopra un carro nuovo e la tolsero dalla casa di Abinadàb che era sul colle; Uzzà e Achìo, figli di Abinadàb, conducevano il carro nuovo:
4 Uzzah walked alongside the ark of God and Ahio went in front.	4 Uzzà stava presso l'arca di Dio e Achìo precedeva l'arca.
5 David and the whole House of Israel danced before Yahweh with al their might, singing to theaccompaniment of harps, lyres, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.	5 Davide e tutta la casa d'Israele facevano festa davanti al Signore con tutte le forze, con canti e con cetre, arpe, timpani, sistri e cembali.
6 When they came to Nacon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached his hand out to the ark of God andsteadied it, as the oxen were making it tilt.	6 Ma quando furono giunti all'aia di Nacon, Uzzà stese la mano verso l'arca di Dio e vi si appoggiò perché i buoi la facevano piegare.
7 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and for this crime God struck him down on the spot, andthere he died beside the ark of God.	7 L'ira del Signore si accese contro Uzzà; Dio lo percosse per la sua colpa ed egli morì sul posto, presso l'arca di Dio.
8 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the name Perez-Uzzah, which it still has today.	8 Davide si rattristò per il fatto che il Signore si era scagliato con impeto contro Uzzà; quel luogo fu chiamato Perez-Uzzà fino ad oggi.
9 That day David felt afraid of Yahweh. 'How can the ark of Yahweh come to be with me?' he said.	9 Davide in quel giorno ebbe paura del Signore e disse: "Come potrà venire da me l'arca del Signore?".
10 So David decided not to take the ark of Yahweh with him into the city of David but diverted it to thehouse of Obed-Edom of Gath.	10 Davide non volle trasferire l'arca del Signore presso di sé nella città di Davide, ma la fece portare in casa di Obed-Èdom di Gat.
11 The ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath for three months, and Yahwehblessed Obed-Edom and his whole family.	11 L'arca del Signore rimase tre mesi in casa di Obed-Èdom di Gat e il Signore benedisse Obed-Èdom e tutta la sua casa.
12 King David was informed that Yahweh had blessed Obed-Edom's family and everything belonging tohim on account of the ark of God. David accordingly went and, amid great rejoicing, brought the ark of God upfrom Obed-Edom's house to the City of David.	12 Ma poi fu detto al re Davide: "Il Signore ha benedetto la casa di Obed-Èdom e quanto gli appartiene, a causa dell'arca di Dio". Allora Davide andò e trasportò l'arca di Dio dalla casa di Obed-Èdom nella città di Davide, con gioia.
13 When the bearers of the ark of Yahweh had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fat sheep.	13 Quando quelli che portavano l'arca del Signore ebbero fatto sei passi, egli immolò un bue e un ariete grasso.
14 And David danced whirling round before Yahweh with al his might, wearing a linen loincloth.	14 Davide danzava con tutte le forze davanti al Signore. Ora Davide era cinto di un 'efod' di lino.
15 Thus with war cries and blasts on the horn, David and the entire House of Israel brought up the ark ofYahweh.	15 Così Davide e tutta la casa d'Israele trasportavano l'arca del Signore con tripudi e a suon di tromba.
16 Now as the ark of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul was watching from thewindow and when she saw King David leaping and whirling round before Yahweh, the sight of him fil ed her withcontempt.	16 Mentre l'arca del Signore entrava nella città di David, Mikal, figlia di Saul, guardò dalla finestra; vedendo il re Davide che saltava e danzava dinanzi al Signore, lo disprezzò in cuor suo.
17 They brought the ark of Yahweh in and put it in position, inside the tent which David had erected for it;and David presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices in Yahweh's presence.	17 Introdussero dunque l'arca del Signore e la collocarono al suo posto, in mezzo alla tenda che Davide aveva piantata per essa; Davide offrì olocausti e sacrifici di comunione davanti al Signore.
18 And when David had finished presenting burnt offerings, he blessed the people in the name ofYahweh Sabaoth.	18 Quando ebbe finito di offrire gli olocausti e i sacrifici di comunione, Davide benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore degli eserciti
19 To al the people, to the whole multitude of Israelites, men and women, he then distributed to each aloaf of bread, a portion of dates and a raisin cake. Then the people al went back to their homes.	19 e distribuì a tutto il popolo, a tutta la moltitudine d'Israele, uomini e donne, una focaccia di pane per ognuno, una porzione di carne e una schiacciata di uva passa. Poi tutto il popolo se ne andò, ciascuno a casa sua.
20 As David was coming back to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him.'Much honour the king of Israel has won today,' she said, 'making an exhibition of himself under the eyes of hisservant-maids, making an exhibition of himself like a buffoon!'	20 Ma quando Davide tornava per benedire la sua famiglia, Mikal figlia di Saul gli uscì incontro e gli disse: "Bell'onore si è fatto oggi il re di Israele a mostrarsi scoperto davanti agli occhi delle serve dei suoi servi, come si scoprirebbe un uomo da nulla!".
21 David replied to Michal, 'I was dancing for Yahweh, not for them. As Yahweh lives, who chose me inpreference to your father and his whole family to make me leader of Israel, Yahweh's people, I shal dancebefore Yahweh and	21 Davide rispose a Mikal: "L'ho fatto dinanzi al Signore, che mi ha scelto invece di tuo padre e di tutta la sua casa per stabilirmi capo sul popolo del Signore, su Israele; ho fatto festa davanti al Signore.
22 lower myself even further than that. In your eyes I may be base, but by the maids you speak of, bythem, I shal be held in honour!'	22 Anzi mi abbasserò anche più di così e mi renderò vile ai tuoi occhi, ma presso quelle serve di cui tu parli, proprio presso di loro, io sarò onorato!".
23 And to the day of her death, Michal, daughter of Saul, had no children.	23 Mikal, figlia di Saul, non ebbe figli fino al giorno della sua morte.
