NEW JERUSALEMBIBBIA
In the highlands of Ephraim there was a man cal ed Micayehu.1 C'era un uomo sulle montagne di Efraim, che si chiamava Mica.
He said to his mother, 'The eleven hundred silver shekels which were taken from you and concerningwhich you uttered a curse, having said in my hearing . . . Look, I have got that silver. I was the one who took it.'His mother said, 'May Yahweh bless my boy!'2 Egli disse alla madre: "Quei millecento sicli di argento che ti hanno rubato e per i quali hai pronunziato una maledizione e l'hai pronunziata alla mia presenza, ecco, li ho io; quel denaro l'avevo preso io. Ora te lo restituisco". La madre disse: "Benedetto sia mio figlio dal Signore!".
He gave the eleven hundred shekels back to his mother, who said, 'I have indeed vowed to give thissilver to Yahweh for my son, to have a statue carved and an idol cast in metal, but now I should like to give itback to you.' He, however, returned the money to his mother.3 Egli restituì alla madre i millecento sicli d'argento e la madre disse: "Io consacro con la mia mano questo denaro al Signore, in favore di mio figlio, per farne una statua scolpita e una statua di getto".
His mother then took two hundred silver shekels and gave them to the metalworker. With them, hecarved a statue (and cast an idol in metal) which was put in Micayehu's house.4 Quando egli ebbe restituito il denaro alla madre, questa prese duecento sicli e li diede al fonditore, il quale ne fece una statua scolpita e una statua di getto, che furono collocate nella casa di Mica.
This man Micah owned a shrine; he made an ephod and some domestic images, and instal ed one ofhis sons to be his priest.5 Quest'uomo, Mica, ebbe un santuario; fece un 'efod' e i 'terafim' e diede l'investitura a uno dei figli, che gli fece da sacerdote.
In those days there was no king in Israel, and everyone did as he saw fit.6 In quel tempo non c'era un re in Israele; ognuno faceva quello che gli pareva meglio.
There was a young man of Bethlehem in Judah, of the clan of Judah, who was a Levite and residedthere as a stranger.7 Ora c'era un giovane di Betlemme di Giuda, della tribù di Giuda, il quale era un levita e abitava in quel luogo come forestiero.
This man left the town of Bethlehem in Judah to settle wherever he could find a home. On his travelshe came to the highlands of Ephraim and to Micah's house.8 Questo uomo era partito dalla città di Betlemme di Giuda, per cercare una dimora dovunque la trovasse. Cammin facendo era giunto sulle montagne di Efraim, alla casa di Mica.
Micah asked him, 'Where do you come from?' The other replied, 'I am a Levite from Bethlehem inJudah. I am travel ing, and am going to settle wherever I can find a home.'9 Mica gli domandò: "Da dove vieni?". Gli rispose: "Sono un levita di Betlemme di Giuda e vado a cercare una dimora dove la troverò".
Micah said to him, 'Stay here with me; be my father and priest and I shal give you ten silver shekelsa year, and clothing and food.'10 Mica gli disse: "Rimani con me e sii per me padre e sacerdote; ti darò dieci sicli d'argento all'anno, un corredo e vitto". Il levita entrò.
The Levite agreed to remain in the man's house, and the young man became like one of his sons tohim.11 Il levita dunque acconsentì a stare con quell'uomo, che trattò il giovane come un figlio.
Micah installed the Levite; the young man became Micah's priest and stayed in his house.12 Mica diede l'investitura al levita; il giovane gli fece da sacerdote e si stabilì in casa di lui.
And Micah said, 'Now I know that Yahweh will treat me wel , since I have this Levite as priest.'13 Mica disse: "Ora so che il Signore mi farà del bene, perché ho ottenuto questo levita come mio sacerdote".
