NEW JERUSALEMBIBBIA
And so, brothers, I was not able to talk to you as spiritual people; I had to talk to you as people stilliving by your natural inclinations, stil infants in Christ;1 Io, fratelli, sinora non ho potuto parlare a voi come a uomini spirituali, ma come ad esseri carnali, come a neonati in Cristo.
I fed you with milk and not solid food, for you were not yet able to take it -- and even now, you are stilnot able to,2 Vi ho dato da bere latte, non un nutrimento solido, perché non ne eravate capaci. E neanche ora lo siete;
for you are still living by your natural inclinations. As long as there are jealousy and rivalry among you,that surely means that you are stil living by your natural inclinations and by merely human principles.3 perché siete ancora carnali: dal momento che c'è tra voi invidia e discordia, non siete forse carnali e non vi comportate in maniera tutta umana?
While there is one that says, 'I belong to Paul' and another that says, 'I belong to Apol os' are you notbeing only too human?4 Quando uno dice: "Io sono di Paolo", e un altro: "Io sono di Apollo", non vi dimostrate semplicemente uomini?

For what is Apollos and what is Paul? The servants through whom you came to believe, and each hasonly what the Lord has given him.5 Ma che cosa è mai Apollo? Cosa è Paolo? Ministri attraverso i quali siete venuti alla fede e ciascuno secondo che il Signore gli ha concesso.
I did the planting, Apol os did the watering, but God gave growth.6 Io ho piantato, Apollo ha irrigato, ma è Dio che ha fatto crescere.
In this, neither the planter nor the waterer counts for anything; only God, who gives growth.7 Ora né chi pianta, né chi irrìga è qualche cosa, ma Dio che fa crescere.
It is al one who does the planting and who does the watering, and each will have the proper pay for thework that he has done.8 Non c'è differenza tra chi pianta e chi irrìga, ma ciascuno riceverà la sua mercede secondo il proprio lavoro.
After all, we do share in God's work; you are God's farm, God's building.9 Siamo infatti collaboratori di Dio, e voi siete il campo di Dio, l'edificio di Dio.
By the grace of God which was given to me, I laid the foundations like a trained master-builder, andsomeone else is building on them. Now each one must be careful how he does the building.10 Secondo la grazia di Dio che mi è stata data, come un sapiente architetto io ho posto il fondamento; un altro poi vi costruisce sopra. Ma ciascuno stia attento come costruisce.
For nobody can lay down any other foundation than the one which is there already, namely JesusChrist.11 Infatti nessuno può porre un fondamento diverso da quello che già vi si trova, che è Gesù Cristo.
On this foundation, different people may build in gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay or straw12 E se, sopra questo fondamento, si costruisce con oro, argento, pietre preziose, legno, fieno, paglia,
but each person's handiwork wil be shown for what it is. The Day which dawns in fire will make it clearand the fire itself wil test the quality of each person's work.13 l'opera di ciascuno sarà ben visibile: la farà conoscere quel giorno che si manifesterà col fuoco, e il fuoco proverà la qualità dell'opera di ciascuno.
The one whose work stands up to it wil be given his wages;14 Se l'opera che uno costruì sul fondamento resisterà, costui ne riceverà una ricompensa;
the one whose work is burnt down wil suffer the loss of it, though he himself will be saved; he wil besaved as someone might expect to be saved from a fire.15 ma se l'opera finirà bruciata, sarà punito: tuttavia egli si salverà, però come attraverso il fuoco.
Do you not realise that you are a temple of God with the Spirit of God living in you?16 Non sapete che siete tempio di Dio e che lo Spirito di Dio abita in voi?
If anybody should destroy the temple of God, God will destroy that person, because God's temple isholy; and you are that temple.17 Se uno distrugge il tempio di Dio, Dio distruggerà lui. Perché santo è il tempio di Dio, che siete voi.
There is no room for self-delusion. Any one of you who thinks he is wise by worldly standards mustlearn to be a fool in order to be real y wise.18 Nessuno si illuda. Se qualcuno tra voi si crede un sapiente in questo mondo, si faccia stolto per diventare sapiente;
For the wisdom of the world is folly to God. As scripture says: He traps the crafty in the snare of theirown cunning19 perché la sapienza di questo mondo è stoltezza davanti a Dio. Sta scritto infatti:

'Egli prende i sapienti per mezzo della loro astuzia'.

and again: The Lord knows the plans of the wise and how insipid they are.20 E ancora:

'Il Signore sa che i disegni dei sapienti sono vani'.

So there is to be no boasting about human beings: everything belongs to you,21 Quindi nessuno ponga la sua gloria negli uomini, perché tutto è vostro:
whether it is Paul, or Apol os, or Cephas, the world, life or death, the present or the future -- al belongto you;22 Paolo, Apollo, Cefa, il mondo, la vita, la morte, il presente, il futuro: tutto è vostro!
but you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.23 Ma voi siete di Cristo e Cristo è di Dio.
